Briarfang felt relief and confidence ripple through him as he passed the second checkpoint the dark brown tabby couldn't believe how well he was doing and continued swimming strongly to the next checkpoint.

Beepaw yelped as a log got in the way of her path. She climbed up on the log and watched the other cats swim forward past the second checkpoint. She was a little disappointed that she only made it to the second checkpoint, but given she was an apprentice she did pretty good.



"Go Lakeblossom!" she cheered as her mentor passed the first checkpoint.

Okay, a few more got started, that was starting to look more like it, yes. Beepaw, impeded by a log, climbed onto it and luckily remained unharmed. Though they valuable time just standing there; they were still in the race, after all. He'd have to see if the apprentice continued or not... Might have to say something if they didn't. It seemed Briarfang and Juniperpaw were both in the head; he was a little impressed by the young apprentice's swimming abilities - she'd only learned recently after all. Still, it was good to see them take to the water this easily.

Now, behind him, someone had decided to begin throwing a hissyfit. Ignored by the other two adults by his side (although he'd wish they would've handled this), Gingerfrost turned around with a deep sigh. Stupid worry-wart, huh. That was certainly a new insult. You know, maybe he should throw this kit overboard just to test thus theory -- unfortunately that would be kit murder.
"Since when do you know how to swim?"
Obviously he knew this one would sink right to the bottom of the river: he'd been handling kit swimming classes as of late, and he did not recall himself or Mistycloud ever teaching the kit how to swim.

Beepaw jumped back in the water. She couldn't rest on the log for the whole race! She swam past the next checkpoint.

"I'm a Riverclan cat! It's in my blood!" he cried. Lionpaw curled into himself and continued griping over how unfair Gingerfrost was being. This went on for quite a while until he finally tuckered himself out. His outburst had dulled into quiet mewling and sniffles as sleep fell over him.

(He's just gonna nap for the rest of the race. Feel free to have someone take him back to camp~)

Okay, with baby grumpypants taken care of and seemingly sleeping, Gingerfrost was about to return to the race. Only to realise: they could hardly leave a two-moon-old child sleep here, right? Err, probably not. Then who might be available to take him back to the nursery, hm. He cast a quick look around, eyes falling on Marigoldleap who'd joined to watch. She had children, right? Surely she knew how to handle this.
"Marigoldleap," he carefully called to the feline "Mind taking him back to camp?"
The tabby gestured towards the sleeping Lionpaw, waiting for her confirmation before glancing back at the race. It seemed Briarfang had taken the lead, though the others were right behind the warrior. This might prove to be a tight race, despite the few participants.

Marigoldleap looked at Gingerfrost then Lionpaw. Yeah she could do that. The molly moved over ro Lionpaw and gently touched him to wake up. She normally would just pick them right up, but despite his young age he was an apprentice and she was going to treat him as such. If he wanted a ride she'd give one. "Come on Lionpaw lets go back to camp, so you can sleep snug in the apprentices den.", Marigoldleap meowed softly. Hopefully he wouldn't be difficult. She didn't want him to think bad of her.
