Daffodilpaw giggled with delight as she hared after her mentor. She could feel the wind billowing in her pelt, hear her paws as they hit the ground, and hear her heart pounding in her ears. But even after she unsheathed her claws to give herself more traction while running, she couldn't quite catch up to her mentor. C'mon small legs! Go! Go! Go! She willed herself forward, knowing it was futile to expect to win against a full grown warrior, but putting all of her heart into it anyway. She had to squint her eyes against the wind, laughing with a little leap of pure delight.

Daffodilpaw laughed at her mentor. "Whoohooo!" She shouted, pushing herself further. Just a little more... Her sides were heaving now but she didn't care. She didn't want to stop until she had to or Elkjump stopped. She felt like she could walk among the clouds right now if she leapt high enough.

Daffodilpaw gasped when Elkjump stopped, she was going too fast! Quickly, she leapt and turned in the air, digging in her claws to the ground when she landed and pushing her weight down. Eventually, she ground to a halt...right in front of the barrier. She released a breath of relief she didn't know she holding, and, panting, dipped her head to Elkjump. "Sorry, Elkjump!" She mewed.

She looked up at his question, and nodded eagerly. "Defend your clan. Be loyal to your clan. Check borders. Don't hunt in another clan's territory. Ummm..." She paused to think for a moment, then brightened up again. "An honorable warrior does not need to kill in battle. And then the rules about Gatherings, warriors sitting vigils and everything." She shuffled her paws anxiously. "I don't know it all word for word... But Rabbitfur and Gorseflower made sure Bouncepaw and I knew the code before we became apprentices!" She sat up proudly as she spoke about her family, tail waving happily.

“No worries, Daffodilpaw!" It seemed Elkjump was getting comfortable talking around her now. Listeñing to the apprentice, the tom nodded. “Don't forget respecting all prey and sick cats, elders, queens and kits are put first in feeding priority." Sure, all about food- but Elkjump got hunrgy from that run to be fair.

Daffodilpaw was glad that Elkjump didn't seem so nervous around her now! But she wished he wouldn't talk so much about food! She drew her tongue across her muzzle, she could practically taste a nice rabbit. "Right!" She chirped, nodding her head enthusiastically. She looked to the border, and almost forgot about how hungry she was. Before her stood a long row of trees that seemed to go on endlessly. To her, a WindClan cat who had always been under the open sky, it looked so...confining. She shuddered as she stared at the border, part of her marveling at how many trees there were. "Who lives here?" She asked, trying to sniff it out but all she could pick up were the preyscents in the glade behind her.

Daffodilpaw flattened her ears against her head. She couldn't fathom it, who would want to live in a place like that? It's so...confined. She looked over to her mentor. "How can they stand it? They couldn't possibly run at full speed there."
