Bouncepaw sniffs the air, then wrinkles his nose. "This place smells like crowfood," he meows. He actually disliked it more than the smell of Riverclan- at least near the water, he could also feel the refreshing, cool air and the sound of the river. But this place... even the air smelled stale. He steps closer, then smells the familiar scent of a border marking from his clan. Maybe a passing Windclan patrol?
"So this is how a border marking smells like." Bouncepaw comments, scanning the area to see if there were any other cats nearby. He doesn't think so, at least for now. He looks up at Bluestrike. "Thunderclan, Riverclan, Shadowclan. Are we going back to camp now?" His voice has some disappointment in it.

Eh, its not as bad as RiverClan. Bluestrike joked, not catching on to how his apprentice felt. No, we're going to head to the forest to maybe get some training in. He mewed.
(Next post you do will be back in the training thread, I'll mention you there)

The tunneler took the apprentices to the shadowclan border first, a keen eye on the four as he tried to keep calm and not be too mad given most of them werent at fault.
"Right, mark the border an' then yer lookin' for juniper berries. Theyre little blue purple berries on bushes wit' pine needles an' have a sharp woodsy pine like scent. Remember, blue/purple not red not any other colour an' limit the amount, we're gonna be gettin' burnet at Sedgewater an' honey at the thunderglade after this an' ya can only take so much."
Spotting a bush the tom gestured to it as an example and decided to snack on one as he was there. It'd be a nice break to have smooth calm and smooth breathing, brought by the berries, for once anyways.
"Alright so some o' ya'll obviously dont know the play when yer patrol mates let ya down. Ya aint helpless, if they dont show ya can tell me an' be off the hook entirely. It just has ta be before patrols are due. If yer gettin' nervous because time is close? If they ditched ya an' disappeared mid way? Say somethin'. Yer not gonna get in trouble for that, only if ya dont show, disappear mid patrol yerself, or stay silent only then ta later get upset yer in the doghouse wit' the trouble cats."
The tom waited until it seemed they'd all marked the border and collected the juniper berries, wondering if any of them noticed his raspy breathing and speech was now smooth and so sussed out the use, and moved on. He wasnt going to wait to see if they had things to say when they had a job to do and next up was sedgewater.
Whispering Wetlands was the first of the borders on their tour, and Shrewstep approached it with a pep in his step. As always. Because that was just how he was. Until he was dead tired, he had no reason not to be beebopping about with a smile on his face. Shadepaw did......not seem impressed by this, but that was kind of just her problem. Shrewstep wasn't going to bother changing who he was for this little mite of an apprentice. He'd made it this long being cheerful in the dour world of Shadowclan (ok so maybe he'd spent half his time being just as gloomy and defensive as the rest of them but that was in the past before he'd discovered the joy of having fewer attachments).
This is Whispering Wetlands, our border with Windclan. he began, narrowing his eyes slightly at the moorland. He had no love for the rabbits, none at all. They had been on better terms recently and it appeared Twilightstar and Dawnstar had some sort of respect for each other, but moons upon moons of hostilities in his young life meant it was hard to forget and forgive Their leaders the oldest at the minute, and we've been on decent terms with them for a good few moons now. That being said, here came his personal venting they were our main enemies for a while. Drove us out of our camp when I was an apprentice, during Icestar's time, but we got them back eventually! The border had been lined with pelts, a tactic he'd seen as horribly gruesome at the time. But now.....it made perfect sense. @snowflake.

The walk to the Whispering Wetlands was uneventful, Hawkfur enjoying the opportunity to stretch his legs. As they approached the willow trees, Hawkfur opened his jaws to scent the border to ensure nothing could catch them by surprise. The typical ShadowClan scent still marred the scenic landscape, but this time there was something else almost overpowering it. He frowned, scenting again. It was prey, but... off. Wait... oh, right! Frogs! It had been a long while since Hawkfur had scented a frog, much less eaten one, so he admittedly was a bit rusty at scenting them out. Huh, a scent this powerful at the border? Well, it wasn't exactly concerning, so he shrugged it off.
Hawkfur began marking the border, keeping an eye out for a ShadowClan patrol that might be feeling a little vicious. He kept an eye out for Burnetpaw; not out of suspicion that she would disappear, but just so the little nagging in his head that she would get dragged to the other side of the border would shut up. He was an anxiety-ridden fool, what could he say?
The farther along the border the patrol went, the stronger the scent of frog became, almost to the point of discomfort. Hawkfur frowned deeper this time, glancing back at his patrol. "You guys wouldn't happen to liKE FROGS--" He coughed slightly as his volume raised, cursing whatever sickness had made him so damn LOUD. It was almost like someone beyond the stars had paid for a wheel to be spun to give him a random affliction and being a loud freak was what it landed on! He just hoped it wasn't permanent... "I've never scented thiS MANY BEFOR--DAMN IT!!!!!" Hawkfur groaned, embarrassment making his ears burn. Maybe he just should have stayed at camp. "I'm so sorRY--I'm not doing this oN PURPOSE--" Hawkfur hissed as it continued, clamping his jaws shut with a huff. Fine, he just wouldn't talk.
Continuing meant the scent grew stronger still, until they reached a particularly wet part of the border where it approached RiverClan's territory. The croaking of toads and chirps of frogs was nearly deafening, and Hawkfur paused again to turn to his clanmates. "Okay, I think we can head bA--WHAT THE--" suddenly a swarm of frogs leapt out from the marshes, startled by the patrol's approach, and nearly bowled Hawkfur over. The Fury shrieked in surprise, tail bushed out twice its size as a frog landed square on his face."GE'RROFF! GET OFFF!!!!" He whipped his head to the side, sending the slimy thing flying away. STARS, THEY WERE EVERYWHERE!!!!

Shadepaw stopped at the border, again ignoring her mentors enthusiasm, gazing curiously at the new territory spread before her. No trees. She could see as far as the horizon, with nothing blocking her view. Of course, she had heard that Windclan didn't have any trees, but she couldn't imagine living in such a place, in the wide open, with nowhere to hide... Yeah, no. She made sure to memorize Windclan's scent. She understood why her clanmates called Windclanners rabbits. They reeked of the prey. She'd never really liked rabbits. Too stringy. Shadepaw glanced at Shrewstep when he began talking. He seemed to not like Windclan too much. Though, he said we were on decent terms... Oh. Drove out of camp. That'd do it. Her ears pricked when he mentioned Icestar. She hardly knew anything about the previous leader. All she knew was the name, and that Icestar was related to Dawnstar. After a moment of thought, debating, she asked, "How did you get them back?" She wanted to know. It could be a good strategy. If anything, it could be something to avoid in the future, if Windclan already knew the tactic. Or something to use against the other clans.

9 moons ~ WindClan ~ she/her ~ 13/100 "i cut my teeth on second hand sentiments"
The WindClan Fury's mysterious affliction was making it hard for the usually serious Burnetpaw to keep a straight face. She prided herself on her stoic front, the coolness and maturity she showed when other cats her age were still prancing around like stupid kits. But now, with Hawkfur attempting to keep himself from blasting them all off the face of WindClan's territory with his booming mew. Her mouth twitched more than once while he spoke; though she attempted to smooth most of her slip-ups over she couldn't stop the occasional huffing snicker from slipping out.
She had scented the frog too but had kept quiet, hoping that the two warriors on the patrol were experienced enough to know what they were doing in regards to the slimy creatures. The scent of mud and the sound of frogs croaking made her grit her teeth, the hoarse sound being one she particularly despised. Suddenly Hawkfur's booming yowl nearly made her jump out of her pelt, swiftly followed by an even bigger shock of what could only be described as a hoard of frogs leaping from the oblivion of the marsh.
They crashed into her willowy frame and she staggered and fell as they over-powered her, hissing and screeching as the cold marshy water from their slimy bodies soaked into her thin pelt. This was disgusting. Batting as many of them away as she could, claws outstretched, she gave an indignant screech as one of them attempted to hop onto her head. This was the pits.

She padded to the border, her fluffy tail flicking behind her, not much worry at all. At first she spotted one frog, crouching to get near it. She crept closer and closer…then she saw two frogs. Fun huh? Perhaps a double catch? Then…three…four…five…what in the WindClan hell was this? Her gaze flicked to ShadowClans side and…there were hardly any over there! Couldn’t the frogs be where they’re actually enjoyed and wanted.
She stomped forward to try and scare some back. “Get back ya hell spawn!” she hissed and…nothing. These little slimy creatures weren’t fazed on bit. She watched as the fury…talk-yelled?…either way it was amusing and she could help but muster a little chuckle each time it happened.
The she-cat followed with the patrol then…a damn STAMPEDE of frogs came. She watched as one landed on Hawkfur (which was well out of her way) she could’ve kept a straight face but them he started his…odd way of talking and at first it was a chuckle then…she basically doubled over laughing. “You- pft- the frog-” the young warrior couldn’t contain his entertained she was. Hardly a second later she noticed another stampede. She watched with a cool gaze then—oh crud, their coming her way. “No no no no no!” she tried scampering back but stumbled over her own paws and that was the end of it. She doubted there were worse ways to die. “ew ew ew Ew EW!” she tried shaking off the frogs that were clinging to her pelt, having little success in doing so.

IT WAS SO JOEVER!!!!! Hawkfur wailed on the frogs as they streaked from the gorse, his fluffy pelt damp with the marsh water that clung to the frogs like kits to a mother. Distantly the Fury could hear Duckfeather and Burnetpaw dealing with the frogs as well, and perhaps that was what got the Fury laughing manically. Perhaps it was the insanity of his weird voice infliction, or the stress of the recent moons, but suddenly Hawkfur was racing through the frogs, cackling like a madman. "DEFEND OUR BORDER!!!" He howled, a manic grin on his face as he sprinted through the madness. Frogs weren't worthy of eating, but he wasn't about to let the border get overrun by the gross things!
Hawkfur batted away frog after frog, trying to chase them into the woods on ShadowClan's side of the border, but for every frog he tossed to the side, three more showed up. Hawkfur shrieked as one clobbered his face again, and he bucked like a raging bull trying to get it off. ALRIGHT! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
[Flock Together T3 Active!]
Rallying his strength, Hawkfur ran into the middle of the largest group of frogs and took a deep breath before bellowing "GET OUT!" at the things. Some of the frogs paused before leaping back over the border, somehow compelled by the strange red tom, but many others remained, still content to hop around and cause problems. UGH!!!! Hawkfur swiped at a frog, sending it flying, before racing out of the swarm and glancing back at Duckfeather and Burnetpaw. "Let's go! Hopefully they'll settle down once we leave!!!"
