Default Re: ThunderClan Medicine Cat's Den

Springpaw
long-furred, oriental-shaped, gray-and-orange calico molly with blue eyes; torn right ear
purrks: herbal knowledge - tier 2 | the collector | mind reader[all perm. active]

The lack of words that escaped her mentor’s mouth after she questioned the potential of them having to amputate the limb, her throat was quick to feel like it tightened up and her body felt tense to the point of no avail. This was going to be a minor problem for both her and her mentor. Reason why was that they had literal little to zero knowledge about amputation, and it wasn’t like anybody else in the clan bore much knowledge about such a situation that they had to partake in. Stars, how in the hell were they going to do this? Leafpaw was in unbelievable pain, and Springpaw herself had no idea how exactly that was going to get the… tail off without causing any more damage to the young siamese than what she was already in. It was just severely frustrating and uncomfortable that both of the medicine cats were being dragged into a situation where they couldn’t get themselves out of.

Hearing Drizzlecloud speak broke her out of the haze that was clouding her mind, the calico focusing herself up towards her mentor as she told her to get a lot of cobwebs. Great, so they were going to go down the path of having to amputate this young apprentices’ tail? Sucking a deep breath through clenched teeth, she gave a quick, abbreviated nod and flew her way towards the herb storage, frowning at the lack of cobwebs that they bore. Not good at all. They were going to need to go out and collect more before this weather grew any worse and cobwebs grew more and more difficult to find. Of course, the medicine den probably bore a chance of finding some small cobwebs occupied in corners, but they still needed bigger wads to use for situations such as this one. So, with the mingled emotions thrumming through her system, she reached a forepaw over and carefully grasped a single wad of cobwebs that she sincerely hoped would be enough for this gruesome process. All they could do was hope for the best.

Prickling at the silvery wad with a foreclaw, she half-heartedly limped her way back towards Drizzlecloud and set it down in front of her, a heavy look staining her face. “We’re running very low on cobwebs, Drizzlecloud. Marigold and poppy flowers too. This wad should be enough for the area after the tail is taken out. We are going to need to be quick with sending out patrols for more cobwebs and may have to go out there ourselves if we have too. This coming leaf-bare isn’t going to be easy.” Her voice shook while she spoke as she set down the wad of cobwebs, making her way towards the other side of Leafpaw as she carefully inspected the young feline’s facial expression, silently irking how distant the young feline looked. She was going to be needing some burnet to keep her strength up after this, but hopefully they shouldn’t be too late to counter such actions. “What do you want me to do first, Drizzlecloud?”

@something. @Leafy [this was a very bad post and I apologize for that-]

A soft whimper escaped her muzzle as she listened to Cherrypaw’s cries–for a moment, she was at a loss, unsure as to what she could do. Was it the pain that was making her cry, or something else? Perhaps both? Her gaze shifted to Springpaw, nodding thankfully towards her when she offered to discard of the… Well, the ear on the ground. “Thank you, Springpaw.”

Back to the task at hand, though. She was about to pluck a wad of cobwebs off of the ground beside her when she heard Cherrypaw’s words–her brows furrowed together in confusion. Who was she talking about? By the sounds of it, there seemed to be someone else at work here. Someone else who had been feeding Cherrypaw lies. Her tail lashed back and forth behind her, frustrated for a moment, before the fiery emotion faded away into concern once again.

“Cherrypaw, darling,” She began softly as she carefully kneaded the cobwebs with her paws. “Who are you talking about? Who is 'she'?”

[ @pumpkinbubble. ]

For a moment–and only a moment–Drizzlecloud watched as Sourpaw and Yarrowcrest applied the cobwebs to Sparrowfur’s wounds. It seemed like they had the gist of it, pressing the webbing to her open wounds with enough pressure to hopefully promote blood-clotting. She hummed softly, more-so to herself, though, “Good job.”

Snagging the last wad of cobweb nearby with one of her claws, she carefully–but quickly–kneaded at the webs to create a sort of bandage before she plucked it up off of the ground to press it against Sparrowfur’s shoulder. Leaning over slightly, she placed a few licks between the molly’s ears–in hopes of comforting her and dragging her back to consciousness.

[ @boo! @eris @spookywynds @the.lemon.witch sorry this is so short lol, wanted to get a reply out so here it is]

Oh, she just couldn’t help but be… Really, really amused. Sprucepaw was such a character, after all, it was hard to pat down the laughter that was bubbling up in her throat just from witnessing his sour attitude. Even if he had only said one word, it was obvious that he was pretty pissed due to his current circumstances.

Ah, it was a mole bite.

Goodness, a mole nipped you?” She asked quietly, head tilted to the side, offering him a small, teeny-weeny smile. Her gaze shifted to Springpaw for a moment, grinning at her apprentice, showing her just how amused she was by all of this. Mhm, off I go,”

And with that, she toddled off to go and snag a bit of cobwebs. Not too much, since it really wasn’t that dire of an injury, but enough to completely wrap around Sprucepaw’s paw and to keep the poultice in it’s place. When she returned, she was just in time to hear half of what Springpaw was saying. “There’s no shame in having prey fight back sometimes, kiddo. Like Springpaw said–you can just learn from this experience, that’s all. That’s what being an apprentice is all about, right? Besides, it’ll be a funny little story in a couple of moons from now.”

As she spoke, she sat beside Springpaw, beginning to knead the wad of cobwebs that she had brought over.

[ @/eris @Alchemist Kitsune ]

Drizzlecloud tipped her head to the side as she listened to Dreampaw’s explanation. Well, being completely honest, she liked the smell of lavender, too! It was probably her favourite herb for that simple reason–and the scent relaxed her. She wasn’t sure if that was a medical thing or just a her thing, though. “Does the scent relax you, too?”

“Whenever I need lavender I usually send a patrol out to Firefly Cove–lots of flowers out there, after all, so it’s pretty easy to find out there.” Drizzlecloud explained softly–it was her favourite part of their territory, too, fun fact!

A quiet chuckle escaped him when he turned to display his growing belly–funny, and very cute–but not fit for an apprentice who was looking to become a warrior. What if someone accused him of being lazy? That would be no good at all! “Ah, not fat. Chubby, perhaps–it’s cute, though, kiddo.”

She seated herself in front of him, lifting her paw and hoping that he would mimic her action and do the same. “Alright, let’s see how you’re healing, shall we?”

[ @GhostCop ]

Drizzlecloud huffed at the sudden weight when Lotuspaw–who was now unconscious–slumped against her. Shifting to carefully guide her to lay down in a moss bed, she stood up tall again once she was certain that Lotuspaw was in a comfortable position–and as soon as she stood up, she noted the nasty fox bite on her lower back. Her lips curled in a silent snarl–frustrated, confused–Lotuspaw was so young, why was she out on that fox patrol?

“It looks like a really bad bite, Springpaw, but I don’t see any other injuries other than that one.” She explained briefly, scooping up the marigold that her apprentice brought over to chew it up in her mouth. While she made the poultice and Springpaw cleaned up the wound with the water-soaked moss, she began to knead the cobwebs that she had brought over to make an effective bandage.

[ @/eris @poppy. ]

Drizzlecloud had been sorting out the herb storage–ah, they were really low on marigold after… Well, everything. She couldn’t help but sigh, shaking her head. No good at all. She’d have to send out some more patrols soon, that was one thing that she was certain about. Her nose twitched when she smelled something off–the scent of illness, to be more specific. Twisting around, she watched Burnetkit–a kit that she was familiar with–and presumably his parents came walking in.

She was quick to stand up, padding over to meet them, and as the kitten began to explain how he was feeling, she crouched down to be on the same level as him. Goodness.

“Mhm, it’s good that you came here. Right where you were supposed to go, kiddo, very good.” She spoke slowly, her words especially articulated so as to make sure that Burnetkit would be able to understand what she was saying before she nodded her head towards an empty moss bed. “C’mere, let’s get you comfortable before we get to work, okay? I promise, we’ll get you all fixed up and feeling better soon.”

[ @LostSoldier @5K3LL3T0N_5H43 @/eris @Willooow ]

Drizzlecloud’s left ear twitched at Nightgaze’s question, humming softly as she glanced over her supplies. Well, surely telling her what she was going to be doing wouldn’t hurt, right? “Well, cobwebs are just to wrap up wounds. I’m going to be wrapping your paw, as well as your leg. This yellow flower here is marigold–we only need a little bit of it today though, so I’ve only brought out half a head. It’s used to fight infections, so I’ll be making a poultice with it to apply to your paw.”

She poked at the sturdy stick with a claw, flashing Nightgaze a grin. “This here is going to help mend your leg–it’s broken, so we gotta wrap it with the cobwebs and align this stick here with your leg to keep it straight. That way, the bone will be able to heal more effectively.”

[ @The Dalek ]

And… There was more sickness. When Mushroomkit came stumbling in, vomit dripping from his jaws, she couldn’t help but let out a mewl of distress. She was quick to appear at the kitten’s side, carefully nosing at his shoulder to guide him over to sit in an empty moss bed. Oh, goodness, come, lay down. I’ll get you cleaned up, okay?”

She gave him a gently nuzzle between the ears before she bumbled off to get some water-soaked moss to clean up the vomit from his jaws.

“Springpaw, Mushroomkit’s feeling under the weather, too! I’m gonna clean him up, it seems like he’s been vomiting. I don’t know what other symptoms he’s experiencing right now, but… I’m assuming this is because of what Bumblestar told us about before, too,” She called out, sounding kind of like she was speaking aimlessly but she was just hoping that her apprentice would be listening to what she was saying.

Sparrowfur - she/her - 19 moons
Beefed Up I - inactive

---

---
dizzy, drowning, dying

Sparrowfur could feel it. She reached out but to no avail. She thought of her mate. Her apprentice, thought of her life. Is this all it comes to? Nineteen moons to drown in a dream?
Surely, it couldn't end like this?
Suddenly shes plucked from the water. Suddenly shes breathing. She gasps for the fresh air and with weary eyes looks up to find a fuzzy figure standing over her.

"Good job, love." The golden figure speaks, giving a gentle lick between her ears.

Sparrowfur recognizes the voice instantly. She feels her eyes prick with tears. The figure is nothing but a memory. An odd vision from her vague recollection. She still smells like fresh dirt. Like Marigolds. Sparrowfur's breath begins to slow. She cannot bring herself to look at the cat, instead she stays in her scent. She lingers in the echo of the past. She does not speak to the figure, but she feels as though there is a mutual understanding between the two. She sighs, closes her eyes, and sinks back into reality.

miss you momma
---

Sparrowfur quietly groans as her eyes flutter open. The scent is gone, the only cat that stands over her now is the gray medicine cat, along with her familiar mate and her apprentice. Everything still stings. Everything aches. But her heart feels a little lighter, at least she is surrounded by the cats she loves. The cats that she cares about. She heaves a heavy sigh and continues to let the surrounding cats care for her wounds.

Springpaw
long-furred, oriental-shaped, gray-and-orange calico molly with blue eyes; torn right ear
purrks: herbal knowledge - tier 2 | the collector | mind reader[all perm. active]

Springpaw’s heart clenched in her chest from the aching sight of her cousin slumping down onto the ground out of pure exhaustion and fatigue, the calico instinctively leaping over to help out with carrying the skunked body of the young apprentice to a nearby nest in order to properly work on the minor bite wound along the lower parts of her back. From a single glance towards the puncture wounds that inflicted the area, Springpaw could’ve sworn that she felt her stomach clench uneasily against the unholy sight of Lotuspaw practically bleeding out right in front of her. She silently thanked her mentor for jumping into action so quickly before she could, as the diluted feline needed a single moment to process the strangled momentum of emotions thrusting through her chest. Being both mild and severe; she was furious, upset, puzzled, and disappointed. All of the emotions were practically buzzing around in her brain like worker bees working themselves restlessly until they died and collapsed onto the dirt grounds of the earth. Curling her lips and briefly lashing her tail against her thoughts, Drizzlecloud’s words lured her out her out of that contained shell as she directed her attention towards her jade-green hues, furrowing her brows as she listened intently.

Well, at least it was only just one injury that they needed to take a close inspection upon, but it was still critical to the point where if it isn’t done properly, then Lotuspaw was at the absolute risk of dying and then he would have her blood on his paws for his negligent treatment towards his clan-mates for that fox patrol. Swallowing down a silent snarl that bubbled in her throat, she used her fusing fury to fuel her into action as she leapt towards the young molly, carefully moving the sodden piece of moss along the severed wounds to cleanse out the bacteria and blood that coated the area. Slowly, yet gradually, the moss began to turn into a dark, crimson red as it soaked in the blood of cleansed off. “At least it’s just a bite and nothing more… but that won’t mean that it won’t leave any difficult complications later on after it heals. I don’t think she’ll be able to walk properly even after it heals.” She explained, mentally cringing at the thought of her cousin having constant struggles with walking properly and even being at the potential risk of getting made fun of by other apprentices her age. Stars, this was all just a messed up situation.

Springpaw
long-furred, oriental-shaped, gray-and-orange calico molly with blue eyes; torn right ear
purrks: herbal knowledge - tier 2 | the collector | mind reader[all perm. active]

Brows quick to furrow, oriental-shaped ears instinctively swerved forward to listen to the snuffling noises that escaped from the young kit below her paws, her blue gaze watching inquisitively as the young kit awkwardly slipping and falling as she tried to remain particularly stable and focused towards the young healer. Curiosity and puzzlement endured the feline as she cocked her head sideways as if to try to further investigate the strange gait that the young molly bore. Was it from some sort of traumatic experience that occured that caused her to walk or rather wobble like that? Or, could it simply have been that she was born with such impeccable ability? Whichever it was, it caught her attention, and almost certainly driven her into the dark as soon as the young kit spoke, catching the young healer’s attention again as her blue gaze focused upon the patched tabby’s own, brows furrowing once again from the vast vocabulary that escaped the kits’ lips. It was both mildly adorable and amusing at how the young kit spoke, but it was charming how Springpaw could easily understand the words that slipped past the young molly’s mouth, which only made the calico far more puzzled.

She could’ve sworn that all the kits in the nursery would’ve learned her name shortly after they gained the right amount of sentience to properly understand proper vocal communication. Was Poppykit not taught of who the medicine cats were within her own clan? The thought felt a little bit bittersweet at first, and yet more irritating than she had expected. There weren't many cats in the clan that weren’t even properly trying to teach the young youth about how to give out proper respect towards any other queens or elders and the initial knowledge about their other clan-mates and the other clans. It was sad, really. Poppykit being so painfully innocent and curious about the medic’s name that it almost made Springpaw’s heart twist painfully in her chest. Nonetheless, the calico will give her her name and alignment, just so that Poppykit bore at least a proper understanding of who she was. “Well, it’s a mighty pleasure to meet you, Poppykit. I’m Springpaw, and I serve as one of our clans’ medicine cats. Or, preferably, I am currently the medicine cat apprentice of our clan, to be exact.” She gave the brittle-boned molly a small, quirky smile as she flashed her sharp canids. Would it have been enough to soothe the impending curiosity that the young molly bore? Potentially not, but it’s better to try than not.

The little trek towards the medicine den had been interesting, yet rather worrisome. Not for herself, per se, but rather for the tiny brittle feline following close behind her. Sure, the little kit was only a couple fox-lengths away from the young healer, but the way she was walking looked a little bit concerning. Each of her paws kept moving in such a strange coordination that it almost left the young healer mildly baffled by the way her twig-like legs wobbled and slipped away beneath herself like they grew a sense of consciousness of their own. Springpaw was almost bound to go over and try to adjust the young molly or even question if she was alright, but she always seemed to have herself pushed back onto all fours without the guidance of the young healer. Tough kit, the apprentice could give her that, but it was concerning. By the time Poppykit became an apprentice, there were almost indefinife cases of where the poor thing could get bullied by all of the snuck-upped apprentices who always thought they were better than all the rest of the kits. If merely made Springpaw want to scoff at the mere immaturity that most of the cats bore these days. When did any adult properly look after their own kits these days? Like seriously, teach your children better manners or else they turn into brats that don’t care about what they say or do.

The curiosity that the young molly bore was heartwarming, to say the least. It reminded her a lot of herself when she was close to the age of turning into an apprentice. It was rather bittersweet the more that she thought about it, a somber smile worming its way to her lips as she focused towards the darkened entrance towards the medicine den. Completely ignorant to the autumn chills that bit through her long fur, the calico briefly glanced down towards the curious molly as she felt a heartfelt chuckle escape her air-chilled lungs, the molly briefly and gently nudging the molly into the den with a snow-furred forepaw. “I get it; the smell is mighty strong at first before you even enter the den. You’ll get used to it, I promise you. When I first came to this den, it was difficult to get used to the smell of different herbs that were either too sharp, bitter, or sweet in smell.” Springpaw explained, entering into the much warmer den as she felt relieved being in a place that was much warmer than the teeth-clattering autumn cold outside of the den. She carefully eyed the brown-furred patched tabby kit behind herself as the kit waddled her way into the medicine den, silently chuckling at how her rather stuffed nose scrunched against the strong smell of herbs and her round, soft eyes equally amazed at the different organizations of how the medicine den was than how the nursery looked. It was understandable, to say the least. The medicine den was a much different environment than what the nursery would be.

Another smile practically wormed its way towards her lips as Poppykit expressed that she never strayed far from the nursery before, further confirming the calico that the young molly had indeed not been shown much about the different dens of ThunderClan camp. It wasn’t like Springpaw could argue, though. Poppykit was young; very young, to be honest. At least around two moons old, if Springpaw calculated correctly. Nonetheless, it did make sense in a way why the young molly would be kept in the securities of the nursery just before she was old enough to venture out and explore camp just within a cat's view. It made sense, and whoever her caretaker was doing a decently good job at taking care of the young tabby molly and her rather strange ways of walking, but the calico wouldn’t be impulsive enough to simply blurt out her personal thoughts unless desired by someone or something. So, with a crooked smile smeared across her cheeks, the calico merely raised a rounded paw to indicate that her little patient was inside of the medicine den. “I surely can see that, my littlest poppy. Now, where you currently are at is the medicine den! It’s a place where cats that were either currently sick or injured come to get themselves checked out and then get patched up! In which, you are indeed lucky to have strolled yourself into the rightful place, Poppykit. That little cold of yours will be gone in no time, I just need to give you that little special treatment and you should be on your way.”

In which, her little patient was deemed curious about what specific special treatment the medicine cat apprentice had been rambling on about so insessantly, which was bound to make another cheek-sore of a smile drag its way towards her face. Gosh, why did this little kit remind her so sincerely about herself? It was almost daunting and bittersweet in a way. She was indeed just as curious, if not still curious to this very day—she was always the quickest learner out of her little ragtag group of siblings while they were still together as young kits. A numb, almost panging ache grew from the deepest pits of her heart from just the simplest thought of her siblings that began to lurk and creep around the corners of her minds like the wretched dreams of nightmares. Her breath had almost grown aloft as her mind grappled with its memories for a split second before reverting back to reality, her body feeling light as if she had been standing on a block of thin ice for a short period of time. Briefly catching herself and half-heartedly coughing out the hitched breath that was stuck momentarily in the depths of her throat, she focused back towards her little patient as she watched the kit huddle herself down onto her small haunches, her almond-shaped hues staring deeply into Springpaw’s deep lapis blues as she patiently awaited for the young healer’s answer to her little question that she had spewed out of curiosity. Well, at least she was reasonable enough to be curious about what the medicine cat apprentice had meant by a special little treatment.

“Well, to answer that, my little poppy, the special treatment is the cure that you will be given for that nasty little cold you got. Or, in your case, just the sniffles or a runny nose. You can go ahead and remain seated right there while I go to work on the cure, or you can come over and watch as I do the process on one of the moss-beds. Either way could work, but you're a special little guest so I don’t mind if you wanna watch or not. Just hand tight while I get to work.” She casted the little kit another side-ways grin to further inform that the young molly was free to do whichever she desired… as long as she wasn’t too close to the rather prestigious herb storage enough that she could easily squish the rather vulnerable herbs, then she should be completely fine. With that being said, the calico rushed her way down towards the storage where each herb was neatly organized into small individual holes where they were each stocked well with different portions of herbal remedies. With a quiet, barely notable hum expelling through her throat, the calico reached a paw inwards to snatch up a random dock leaf with her foreclaws to pull closer to herself. Just what she needed to put the right amount of herbs into the direct center in order for Poppykit to take it. She didn’t need too much, thankfully. All she just needed was a little bit of catmint, coltsfoot, honey, and a little bit of feverfew… that is, if they had any.

Pursing her lips, the long-furred calico searched aimlessly around each indented hole for the right herbs that she required, a frown growing apparent that she didn’t find any potential coltsfoot within their storage was more than enough to make the young calico a little bummed out. Well, if they didn’t have any coltsfoot or honey, then she would just have to stick with just using catmint and feverfew and just hope that Poppykit would take the herbal remedy without any potential complaints. With a huff expelling through her lips, the calico carefully scooped the herbs onto the single dock leaf as she gently nudged it towards the small stream that flowed through the middle of the clearing, listening to the water as it rippled away. Focused with the calming sound, she essentially began to work away with her paws to carefully claw off small bits of feverfew and catmint and add them to the dock leaf in order for them to be properly mixed together. Using both rounded paws, she carefully crushed the small remaining bits of herbs that she clawed off into a mush before taking one out and dipping it inside of the cool water from the stream, collecting some water to add to the mush in order to make it into a pulp that Poppykit would have to eat. A tinge of worry flicked at that back of the calico’s brain, her lips pursed as she focused immensely at her gentle kneading. What if this didn’t work? What if she was going to actually need to go out and collect some coltsfoot in order for Poppykit to be fully healed up? Well, both of them shared the same quantities, so it shouldn’t be much of a problem.

Growing satisfied with her crushing, she pulled her paws away and carefully inspected the small mushy pile of mixed herbs as she made sure that it was well-mixed so that the young kit wouldn’t notice much of a difference after she took the cure. Afterwards, she carefully began to chew it into a quick pulp. Since it was mushy, it didn’t take too long to carefully turn it into a pulp for the young kit to eat right in front of her. When she was finished, she carefully inspected the pulp with furrowed brows to make sure it was good enough for the kit to eat. With a curt nod, the calico heaved herself back onto her paws as she nudged the dock leave over in front of Poppykit’s view, her face contorted with both warmth and hope. “Here, go ahead and take this. It’ll help you with that sickness of yours. It should help you keep off from getting it again anytime soon. And, if you do, you know where to go to get this special treatment again.” She has a little side-ways smile towards the young kit, although feeling herself mentally kicking her in the chest for the choice of words. She didn’t even have any honey or coltsfoot to use for the mixture. How was she even certain that this would even work to hopefully keep this illness away from the young kit? Whichever, she hoped it would work, since catmint was indefinitely proved effective towards anything as negative as whitecough and greencough, but so was coltsfoot. Whisking the tip of her tail, the calico threw the thoughts away for a brief moment of time. She just needed to see if Poppykit would take the remedy or not and hope it would do more good than harm.

Occupied closely alongside her mentor, the oriental-shaped feline had also been organizing through the herb storage, peering plantatively towards how little marigold they bore within their storages after the first few clients that came storming in the more severe injuries than the last from both the recent battle and the fox attack along their ShadowClan border. It was almost agonizingly pitiful with how dangerously low their storage was getting, and yet… Springpaw couldn’t help but feel like she took in some effect with the drastic decrease towards the storage all just from what had happened during the battle. From just the singular thought itself, the calico was almost quick to feel her partially healed throat muscles tighten and clench with an agonizing pulse, her small, ivory-colored claws unintentionally slipping against the pain and digging themselves deeply into the coarse surface beneath her snow-furred paws. The hazardous memory flashed through her mind like the scraped images off of an old tape recorder along an old TV. A bitter, bile taste formulated at the back of her throat, and she was mercifully quick to swallow it down before her impotence could’ve been shown through the fragile shell that she had been keeping herself covered with with very little effort. How could she keep such prominent scars hidden from point of view? They were practically noticeable, and all they caused was nothing but a whole charade of insecurities to rush through the calico like a speeding bullet.

Oriental-shaped ears instinctively swerved upwards as a small, meek voice filled her ears. The recoiling stench of an ill kit overfilling her nostrils as she whipped her head to face towards the direction of the entrance of the medicine den. Her remaining peripheral vision took notice of the hazy figure of two tom-cats and one little kit as the kit meekly spoke, whining about being terribly sick and wondering what’s wrong with them. Drizzlecloud, with her naturally gentle and motherly instincts, was quick to leap into action and go see what was the problem with the young kit, Springpaw, only soon following suit. The calico flashed a quick glance towards both tom-cats as she silently read both of the tom-cats to see what they showed in appropriate care for their kits’ well-being. Tossing that aside for now, the calico focused her attention towards the sickly ill kit as she cocked her head to the side, her lips forming into very brief words. “What… you… been… feeling… to… be… like this?” Her throat gurgled and burned while she spoke, but it was a plantitive attempt at asking for any potential symptoms for how this could’ve happened in the first place.

Roaringcoast
23 Moons || Cream, off-white, and deep ginger cat with blue eyes || They/Them ONLY

Mention(s): @something.
Appearing in the den, they aimed to locate the resident shecat. Finding her in their blue gaze, they call out towards her. “Ayo, Drizzlecloud, what herbs do you need for leafbare? It’s right around the tree and I don’t want you running out before it’s even started, I just need a description or any other information on the ones you need and I’ll grab it,” The cream and ginger cat mews flatly. Patrols weren’t enough, with all those battles, infections were sure to creep up on the clan one paw or another. You could never have enough herbs, especially this time of season. They stared blankly at her, this job must absolutely suck fox toes. Roaringcoast would just kneel over and die if they were assigned to permanently heal the clan.

More illness. More sickness. How much worse could this get? The rancid stench of vomit was quick to touch her sensitive nose-buds as a sharp pulse of worry spread across her features, her head whipping towards the direction of Drizzlecloud worriedly inspecting the tom-kit as she ushered him to lay down on one of the unoccupied moss-beds. Her blue gaze landed on the young tom, and she felt her stomach sickeningly clench as the sight of the vomit pooling around his jaws and dripping onto the dirt ground. Forcing the unsettling bile that was crawling up her throat, she quickly flew back towards the herb storage to look for anything in particular that could help with such a situation. Drizzlecloud’s words rang deep in her head, and every indulgent impulse was fought back to keep herself from accidentally slipping her claws out. There was a patient in need of help, she couldn’t simply just let her emotions get the absolute worst of her and make her become distracted from the numbing pain that kept fusing through her body like absolute hell. Sticking her paws into the herb storage, irritation began to strike at her. Did they even have any potential chervil? Well, they did, but their current storage of it was so little and scarce that the feline wasn’t even certain if it should be used to properly get rid of whatever was inside of Mushroomkit’s stomach!

Mumbling beneath her breath, she reached in and carefully grasped one of the stems of a dandelion flower as she pulled it towards herself, using a foreclaw to carefully pick off the flower part from the rest of the stem. Some of the clear, white liquid stained her snow-furred paws while she carefully cut the head off, but she would wash that later when there wasn’t a kit inside of the den currently spewing up vomit at the moment. Satisfied with her work, she carefully nudged the head of the flower towards the tom kit after her mentor was finished cleaning his mouth up to the point where it wasn’t coated with vomit, looking at the kit with a sincere look in her eye. “H-here… eat… this… will help… get the toxins… out… of body.” She explained, ignorant to the gurgling in her throat as she nudged the flower-head closer for the young tom to eat, silently hoping that he would without any hesitation or doubt on her ability.

Yeah, she didn’t need to be told that their herb storage was looking pretty rough, but nonetheless–hearing it being said out loud made her grimace. They could make do with what they had right now, for Leafpaw at least–but they’d have to scrounge up some supplies as soon as possible once this was all over. She could only imagine just how difficult leaf-bare was going to be–but they’d manage. Surely, they would. At the very least, she would rather die than give up on her clanmates like that. “Understood–we’ll work on sending out some more patrols after we’ve wrapped things up here. We can go out on our own patrol, too, grab some of the essentials that we’re missing… Well, we can do that once our patients’ stabilize enough to be left alone for a little while. Unless you’d want to stay here while I run out to find a few things?”

A conversation for later, though, she let the offer hang in the air. They had other matters to tend to right now, unfortunately.

“Apply some pressure to the base of her tail. It’s going to hurt, but we have to try to limit the blood-flow. I’m gon–... I’m gonna… I’ll deal with her tail.” Saying it out loud left a pit in her stomach. She could hear her heartbeat pounding in her ears–and practically feel her blood rushing through her veins. “As soon as it’s off, we apply pressure to the wound–you don’t move your paws, I’ll grab the cobwebs, okay? I need you to do that for me.”

Her gaze drifted down to Leafpaw again, her heart hammering against her chest at the sight of the poor apprentice. The poor girl needed rest. A lot of rest.

[ @eris @Leafy ]

Drizzlecloud’s ears lay flat against her head as she watched the apprentice try to explain what was going on. Actually, she wasn’t sure if she was trying to explain or if she was trying to avoid doing that. Only a few words had been uttered by Cherrypaw, words that she couldn’t piece together to form any sort of logical explanation. She still needed to know more.

“Dark?” She quoted softly, head tilted to the side. She wasn’t sure if that was the beginning of a name or… Something else. She kind of hoped that it was a name and not the something else that she was beginning to suspect it was. “It’s okay, Cherrypaw. It’s just me. You can talk to me, remember? I’m here for you.”

[ @pumpkinbubble. ]

Drizzlecloud chuckled at the apprentice’s behavior–what a sweetheart! She couldn’t help but grin at the way that he displayed just how quickly he fell asleep. “Ah, well that’s good. I’m very glad that it worked!”

A little sweetheart and a bit of a goofball, it seemed. Whether he intended to or not, she snickered again at the way that he cluelessly began to inspect her paw rather than his own. “Alright, let’s see… It looks to be healing well! That’s a relief, isn’t it? I’d say that you should be ready to return to your training, but come back to see me as soon as possible if you start to feel any discomfort. Give your paw a bit of time to get used to the work again, though, okay? Don’t put too much pressure on it, can you promise me that?”

[ @GhostCop ]

A sudden booming voice shook her to her core–she wasn’t expecting it, so she sprang up to her paws, back arched with her fur all fluffed up. Her head snapped around to look at who had come barreling in, calling her name– “Mistberry? What’s going on?”

Thankfully, after her barks of simple commands, both felines were quick to jump into action. If Springpaw could smile, she definitely would, but the exact moment definitely wasn’t the right moment for Springpaw to just smile for no reason. Sparrowfur was bleeding out right in front of the feline’s just as they worked and prodded at getting each of her wounds all carefully patched up with cobwebs and keeping the young warrior from bleeding out. From just her own pair of cobwebs alone, she could already see the outer lines of it slowly becoming a deep, crimson red. With the amount of blood seeping onto the silver lining, she wasn’t quite sure if the cobweb was going to last for much longer, especially with how clotted it was becoming. Or, was that considered a good thing? Wasn’t blood clotting a good thing? Well, she surely didn’t know due to all the stress that was burdening itself along her shoulders for hell’s sake! Swallowing her irritation down her throat, she carefully compacted the cobwebs down a little more before focusing along her stomach, carefully using a snow-furred, blood-stained paw to feel around to see if there were any more injuries that needed to be checked up upon.

Hopefully there wasn’t any, or else she’d surely feel like she would start to mentally freak if that was going to be the case. Focusing her attention back towards Sparrowfur’s expression, Springpaw could feel her lips curl into a sour frown as she noticed how drastically exhausted the injured molly looked. It wasn’t like Springpaw could blame her. She would look just the same if she was tossed into the same situation. Another thing to absolutely suck about the situation was for the fact that this molly had absentmindedly risked her life to help get the foxes out of the border, and Foxstep didn’t even bother to do a damn thing to help! It was just all so infuriating and tiring to think about, and she hoped that this could be done and over without a pose of concern for her patients’ wounds growing infected.
