The large golden tom observed Sprucepaw's much more practiced decent with an attentiveness he only ever reserved for kits and apprentices. This young cat certainly showed promise; not many apprentices these days had the willpower to push through challenges without a mentor manually shoving them through. A spark of approval glimmered to life in his eyes, and he returned the nod with a dip of his own head before flicking his tail back towards camp.

"Well done Sprucepaw," he rumbled, tucking the large mossball he had collected under his chin as he began to lead the way back home. "Come, let us return. I will be sure to inform both Springpaw and your mentor of your successes here today."

Fernwillow began scenting the air immediately after arriving at Cattail Pond, the chilled breeze coming off the water making her shiver. She eyed Treepaw as the group arrived, ready to advise the apprentice against going too close to the water lest she fall in. "Treepaw, stay close to me." She meowed. "I don't want anyone falling into the water." The usually chatty feline said nothing further as she began her hunting, talking suddenly a chore she was not up to undertaking.
