Wolfcry smiled at him. "Good because I love your name." she purred. "Well I'm glad, I do want kits in the future....but..." she tailed off, will her kits be afraid of her when they born? she thought.

The molly's moistened moss was in her maw, the type she tended to keep in her personal stock to ensure she could clean fur and wounds clear of any grime or muck. And her target today had plenty of both, injuries not withstanding. Yet. Somehow she doubted the clan's deputy would put up with their grooming quietly. Crowtooth always did have a penchant for the dramatics. A fact which she admittedly enjoyed, but not today. He was going to be representing the clan, for stars' sake! He better damn well bloody look the part!

It took some time. The black and white tom absolutely refused to sit still for more than two seconds. Which... granted... She was a culprit of herself. But for this, they needed the element of surprise. If he would just... Aha! Finally! With a single nod, Hawkfur burst forward, her own form besides him as they took the feline formed dust mound down.

In an instant, Lightningstorm dropped the moss on the tom's head, intent on getting that face clean if possible. Stars, the moss was already looking worse than her usual patients' after a quick use. Strength wise she wouldn't do much. The calico was stronger than she appeared, yes. But with her petite height and wiry frame, she didn't look much stronger than the average WindClan apprentice to begin with. And Crowtooth was big. Really big. And with a stubborn streak that was only matched by his goofiness. Which meant this would be quite the battle even with the both of them teamed up.

"And if you won't stop your bloody wormin' about, then don't do it for you. Do it for the kittens! Can you imagine! Star filled eyes going off to meet the other clans only to find out that WindClan is just known as that one clan with the overgrown dust mite for a deputy?" the molly chirped along as she struggled to clean the tom, a clear tease in her voice as she readied for a snarky retort. One she would gladly weather if it meant having a half presentable deputy present for RiverClan's inevitable return.

Watching the patrols he'd just sent out Crowtooth startled seeing Dreamsky asking to go, eyes flicking to the last cats leaving as he sweated. "Ah sorry I just sent out patrols yer a bit late. If ya wanna do a solo huntin' trip feel free, or maybe nab an apprentice fer a huntin' lessson? Always apprentices lookin' fer trainin' around here.



If ya really wanna go on a patrol I can remember yer name fer next time though, alright?" The tom couldnt stick around to see what she chose however, noting a commotion he had to tend to and excusing himself to sort it out, waving goodbye to Dreamsky as he did.

Alright. Who was going to make the first move. Crowtooth had been announced as Deputy which was all well and good but stars above he was a mess. Not conduct-wise, but... physically. Hawkfur wouldn't have bothered to do anything about it had it just been grief that kept the skunk-striped tom from cleaning himself. Hell, even the typically sleek and shiny Hawkfur was a bit ragged himself after losing his mate. But this... It was like he had no concern over how he looked! And with the Gathering coming up, there was no excuse. This would be Crowtooth's debut as WindClan's Deputy, and RiverClan was back (at least, they were supposed to be. Checking the borders had left Hawkfur more confused as it seemed the markers hadn't been renewed yet. But regardless.)! He couldn't just waltz onto the Sea Stones looking like he just rolled out of the tunnels!

Hawkfur and Lightningstorm had been sharing meaningful looks for days. At first the bereaved tom had floundered at understanding what the glances meant, but as the days wore on and Crowtooth grew dustier, he started getting the message. There hadn't been a plan to force him into cleaning himself, and even Hawkfur's renewed confidence in himself wouldn't let him tell his friend directly that he stank. But one afternoon, that all changed.

The moment Crowtooth settled for once--how could a cat that large move around that quickly??--the Fury and Medicine Cat struck. A single nod from Lightningstorm had Hawkfur bolting for Crowtooth, using his size to flop down onto his friend's back and begin viciously cleaning his face. He grimaced at the taste of dust and sand, but he would get his best friend looking shiny and presentable one way or another! "THIS IS FOR YOUR OWN GOOD!" He insisted, even as Crowtooth struggled beneath him.

There would be no snarky retort to Lightningstorms comments, only the indignant yowling of a tom being ASSAULTED!



Between being flattened by Hawkfur and strategically attacked by the medicine cats surprisingly strong self there was no escape, the deputy was truely stuck in place and forcibly bathed. And BOY did he make his displeasure at that fact known. Yowling, howling, cries of betrayal as the tom desperately tried to writhe out of the vice grip and the unforgiving attack of wet moss and tongues.


His carefully collected dust! His 'charming' scruffiness! His musty smell!!! STOLEN FROM HIM!!!!


"YOU FILTHY TRAITORS!!! BETRAYED BY MY OWN FRIENDS!!!! YOUVE NEVER HAD OBJECTIONS TO MY FUR BEFORE THIS YOU DRAMA QUEENS AND IVE BEEN TO DOZENS OF GATHERINGS!!!! RELEASE MEEEEEEEEEEE!!!"
Glass house meet stones considering Crowtooth in fact was the drama queen acting like he was being murdered because his best friends decided he shouldnt look like a fool for once. There was no escape however, and steadily the toms fur was tamed to a presentable fashion.



The irony was, they had a good damn point!
Crowtooth being as dusty and scruffy as he tended to be was fine for just a random windclan warrior and even at home, given the clan knew of his competence despite his appearance. But for his debut at the gathering it'd kinda not show windclan in good light if he showed up a mess. And he certainly wasnt going to do this himself so here the deputy was, pinned to the ground the day of the gathering to be set to order by two cats who'd had enough.
