“Well…” She hesitated. “I kind of… Got temporarily exiled from WindClan. I uh… Failed to complete a patrol and then… Er… Forgot about my punishment. I don’t usually forget things, but a lot was on my mind, so… I just thought I should tell you. It’s only a quarter moon until I can go back, but still, I thought you should be informed.”

Foxtail felt relieved that it wasn’t something else. “It’s okay. Everyone makes mistakes.” Suddenly, he heard leaves crunch behind him. He turned to see a familiar ginger she cat standing there.

I see where your loyalty lies" she looked at Foxtail with sadness, how could he break the code, how could he betray his clan this way and not tell anyone, how could he betray her, the cat who watched him through admiring eyes every day since apprenticeship. Turning away she fled into the forest.

“I must leave before…maybe we should stop this.” Hurt stabbed through Foxtail’s chest as he fled, tears welling up in his eyes as he pictured the pain stricken on Honeyfreckle’s face. “Gingerdapple!”
