Re: WindClan Galewood
Buttercuptwist
she/her - 76 moons
Wow. Well that was a lot of news. And not one bit of it seemed to be good. What in StarClan's name was happening? Cats somehow failed to respect the furies? An apprentice died? Did nobody warn him about death berries? She made note to herself, she must go over that with Spottedpaw. Having an apprentice die due to a lack of knowledge would be, well. She'd never forgive herself, that's for sure. Her heart sank. Poor Sunpaw.
Just when she thought the news couldn't get worse, it turned out an apprentice had been running round on a murder spree? Since when was that something that happened in this clan? They were fiercer than they once were, yes. But to murder their own? Nothing to worry about, she supposed seeing as Twilightstar's already executed him. A shudder ran through her. An apprentice becoming a murderer? IT made no sense.
So that was 2 apprentices dead. One by total mistake, one suddenly walking a path of evil. Horrible. Maybe she should take on another apprentice, it seemed like the clan needed it. She wrapped her tail round her front paws, a kind of embrace to reassure herself. Sure she wasn't the most responsible of cats, but she couldn't stand to see one of this clan's young die.

Jaggedkit wasn't fond of whatever his sister had decided to do. It was something stand in mum fires did sometimes and what other big cats did to the kits. He didn't mind much, only because it was his sister and she was allowed to do whatever she wanted. "yeah, but his missing bits didn't look nice. I didn't like them, they made me feel yucky!" he didn't have the exact words but that was the best he could describe it. Strawberrykit then continued to tell him what she'd learnt, biting! Was that something he had to do aswell?
Jaggedkit hadn't seen his father approaching among a crowd of so many cats as big as him, so when Snowybreeze had attempted to groom Jaggedkit's head in greeting it completely spooked him. Fur spiked up, Jaggedkit let out hiss preparing himself to attack only to realise that this was no stranger. Just snowy dad. That was a nice surprise! Jaggedkit had been looking for snowydad right? No actually he hadn't been, bit he was still happy to see him! Jaggedkit attempted to headbutt his dad in return, a small purr forming in his throat.
Snowydad was saying a lot of words, most of which jaggedkit didn't understand at all. He assumed they must be fun things though. "who's twi- twilly- twillylightstar-" what a hard name to pronounce! He'd just shorten it. "Who's twillystar and why are they so important that we have to listen to them?" he inquired, genuinely not understanding what the importance of this whole meeting was.

Re: WindClan Galewood
| Dapplebreeze |
71 Moons - WindClan Fury Lieutenant
Agatha Kitty - Active | Silver Tongue - Active | Killer Aptitude [Tier 3] - Inactive
Dapplebreeze remained at the back of the crowd, happy to keep an eye out for any disturbances that might try to make their way into the meeting from either outside the safety of their walls... or within. Stars almighty, she loved WindClan. She truly did. The fury would give her life for any one of her clanmates, but they could be so inexplicably buffoonish sometimes. It was quite telling that she had stayed most of the meeting shaking her head in disappointment, not even being able to muster up disbelief for the many atrocities the clan had suffered through these past two moons solely by their own paws. Sometimes it felt as though if WindClan's own worst enemy was itself and its strange aptitude for turning on itself when there were no enemies to rally against.
Even as the meeting ended, murmurs started to erupt, and one particular troublemaker spoke out, confusing the senior warrior as to where her leaps to conclusion have been taken to arrive to this as her question. Had she not heard Twilightstar's plight to be on the lookout for red berries? To inform the high ranks so that Lightningstorm could identify them and have them eradicated from the territory? She was certain that after the events that had led to her mentor's exile the medicine cat wanted nothing to do with the cursed red fruits. And considering Sunpaw's end, it was no doubt a good idea to simply be rid of them altogether. If a grown warrior was making the mistake of eating them, then they were clearly a threat to the clan, no questions asked.
The patched warrior opened her maw, ready to interject - she thought it honestly silly for the leader to repeat herself, and perhaps offering Silverfur to go out with her to do a sweep of the death berries would be a fun, productive day between the two of them - when she was stopped. A familiar, fluffy form burying his head in her fur, tears and sobs shaking his body. Oh dear... Had Birchpaw not heard of his mentor's demise? A look of empathy crossed the molly's dark hues, her own heart still shorn and twisted, attempting to heal after her daughter's death.
There were a number of things that Dapplebreeze had not agreed on when it came to Sunpaw. He had been erroneously demoted, in her eyes. Yes. It was true. The demoted warrior had killed an apprentice aged cat. But this cat had been a trespasser. Since when had the other clans shown any level of sympathy for their own paws? Twistedpaw herself had suffered just a season past to the claws of RiverClan for the crime of an accidental trespass. Would have potentially been killed if not for darling Batglare and Swiftfire. Perhaps a warning to be more careful. A reminder to make sure the apprentice understood its trespass before going through such drastic measures. But at the end of the day, it was the life of a cat from outside their clan that had been lost. An enemy. She could hardly find fault for that.
Regardless of her opinions on the matter, however, the lieutenant obeyed the leader. She trusted her judgement, and assumed there had been a logical reason for the demotion that she simply couldn't understand. And Sunpaw should have abided by it. Acted properly on it. And not gone out on his own to find berries of all things to eat and bring back home with him. His death had been an accident, yes. But try as much as she could, she failed to see it as tragic. It had been foolish decisions that had led to it. Breaking of rules and common sense that even kits should have had led to his death. No tears needed to be shed as far as she was concerned.
Or such had been her view. Birchpaw's sobbing questioning had her reassessing her original opinions on the matter. Because... truly... Despite his faults at the end, it was clear that Sunpaw had done right by his apprentice. Had shown him love and care enough for the yellow eyed tom to feel his passing so passionately. A sight that brought sorrow in and of itself and made her dip her head respectfully for the first time in honor of the warrior's passing.
"I'm afraid so, my darling," she mewed, raising one paw in the air in an attempt to wrap it up around the apprentice, her maternal nature winning out against the need to reinforce the cruelties of life once more, as it so often did when it came to her little ones. Even as she admitted to the fact. She would comfort, yes. But she would never hide the truths of clan life from those she had been tasked to teach. From those that she had taken under her wing. "He runs in Silverpelt now."

Maggotpaw's mouth opens then closes quickly. Had they been hissing like a cowardly Thunderclanner? Do Thunderclan hiss often? Are they all cowards, or just the ones that hiss? Well. It doesn't want to be either of those things—cowardly, Thunderclan—so it knocks the hissing out fast.
"Then I'll bite you. And step on you and jump on you and squish you. And then I'll chase you around and hunt you." Maggotpaw won't do anything of the sort. It hates that stuff—besides chasing, chasing is fun—and it would really rather be hiding in the elder's den more than anything, but if hissing is off the table then empty threats will have to do. "And since that's all you're gonna make me do and I already know how to do it then you should tell Twilightstar I don't need a stupid mentor with a scratched-up face. Or any kind of mentor. Okay? Go now." The little brat instructs, nodding up at the Galewood as if it expects Whisperinghive to clamber on up right now and execute Maggotpaw's orders.

Whisperinghive
A 12-16 moon old tom with marigold-orange fur, dull green eyes, and a thin scar running from below his left eye down his muzzle to his nose.
Purrks: Killer Aptitude T1 [ACTIVE] Survival Instincts[ACTIVE] Just a Scratch [ACTIVE]
Uh-huh. This little scrap was going to hunt him down? "I'm sure you will." Whisperinghive said sarcastically and dryly, his expression bored as he continued to stare down at the new apprentice. He acted like this when he was an apprentice, only a bit better. Whisperinghive would have never dared to speak to Batglare with that amount of disrespect. "Uh-huh." The warrior responded. This apprentice had guts. Too many. "Moving on, He started, biting his tongue to stop a hiss from escaping his mouth at thr insult to his face. "We will start with a territory tour to start your training." Whisperinghive continued, sitting with his tail curling over his paws. "Is that alright, or do you already know every paw step of our vast territory?" The warrior dryly mocked, his left ear twitching with irritation.
"If so, we'll move on to hunting, then battle training." Whisperinghive had gotten most of his training from events and a bit from Batglare and Berryfrost, so he didn’t know if he should do all of this for the apprentice. 'They're arrogant enough.' The warrior thought with a twitch of his tail. He couldn't imagine what Maggotpaw would be like at the end of it's training. Wait, what happened to Duckthroat?
Wait, someone hurt Duckthroat?

AND IT NEVER MADE ANY SENSE, ANYTHING

MAGGOTPAW . 6 MOONS . IT/THEY . WINDCLAN
"He hurt Duckthroat?!"
The ongoing meeting had been a distant drone set in the background of Maggotpaw's present hissyfit, but that? The endangerment of one of Maggotpaw's beloved elders? That does not go unnoticed. Maggotpaw lurches away from Whisperinghive, momentarily forgetting their ire. They scramble awkwardly, first a few paces toward Duckthroat's den and then a few toward Lightningstorm's, where—there!
"Duckthroat! Somebody hurt you? He wanted to kill you?? Are you dying now? You can't die—cats can't hurt you, I don't want them too, you're elder, it's not allowed—" Their anger from before carries over, redirected. If Twilightstar hadn't already executed Quickpaw, Maggotpaw would be calling for blood. As things are, though, all they can do now is hover and inspect, weaving around the older cat before coming to a final stop by leaning in to try and rub their face against his flank, intent on marking Duckthroat with Maggotpaw-smell. You aren't supposed to steal things that aren't yours. Nobody is allowed to steal Duckthroat away if Maggotpaw doesn't want them to. Regardless of whether Duckthroat tolerates their fussing, Maggotpaw rocks back, ready to demand that they both find someplace quiet to sit because Duckthroat needs rest and Maggotpaw needs to pretend it's still a kit, but...but....
Maggotpaw has never been ashamed of itself before in its life and it likely never will be, but Duckthroat's admonishment almost gets it there. Almost. You promised to take care of me...oh—they did. Maggotpaw remembers. They just hadn't thought that time would really come. Their ears feel terribly warm and frustration twists their throat into a knot. It hates that Duckthroat witnessed any of this, hates being chastised by one of its very favorite cats. It decides it must hate Whisperinghive and Twilightstar (who gets a pass just this once, since she killed the monster that hurt Maggotpaw's poor, poor Duckthroat) most of all, right now. This is their fault. They made Duckthroat mad at me.
But there's still a Duckthroat in the world to be mad, and that is more important than any of the things that Maggotpaw hates.
"Whisperinghive is gonna show me how to execute cats, like what Twilightstar did. He said," it lies, soft and insistent. "So I can do that when cats mess with you, okay? So...so next time, you tell them I'll mess them up really bad if they try anything." Maggotpaw still has no real stomach for battle, but it knows that it doesn't like thinking about this kind of thing happening again. If executing cats is what makes them stop hurting elders, then Maggotpaw will gladly suffer through that lesson.
"You don't ever go outside again, ever, okay? Not unless the Furies are with you, and Twilightstar and Crowtooth, also. Okay?" Here's where it tries to lean in for another head-bump. "I'll be good for Whisperinghive—even if I hate him and want to stomp on him—if you be good for me. Your legs aren't allowed to hurt and you can't be attacked or killed ever. Alright? Plus you have to get better and be okay again really fast. Tell Lightningstorm and also Rabbitpaw that I said that and also that Starclan will fill their den with bugs if you're not okay fast enough." Maggotpaw pauses, leaning back with a thoughtful look. "The bugs will only bite them, also. Not you. They're nice to you."
Maggotpaw steps away from Duckthroat, back towards its mentor. "You can't be mad at me," it adds, all worn out of its fury and left only with its concern. "I'll take good care of you. I will. But you can't ever be mad me." It's not going to forget the disappointment in Duckthroat's voice any time soon, nor will it forget the borderline nausea it feels any time it wonders if this means Duckthroat might not like it anymore ever. And of course, there remains the issue that none of this would be happening if it were still a kit. Duckthroat would still like it and want to tell it stories. Duckthroat would probably even tell Whisperinghive to go away and stop bothering it.
Alas. Maggotpaw trudges back to sit with its mentor. Plops down heavily, like it's returned from a war. Doesn't look up at the face that it had just insulted moments ago. Just listens, biting back a sour retort now and then. It hs to be good. It has to try.
"I know the whole territory," it lies obstinately. "But I forgot it, so you need to show me again." It shifts its weight, scraggly tail thumping the grass. "And you need to look after Duckthroat with me. When we're not doing stupid stuff. Okay?"

SOMETIMES MY MIND DON'T SHAKE AND SHIFT
BUT MOST OF THE TIME IT DOES
── ⋅ ⋅ ── ❖ ── ⋅ ⋅ ──
WHITERABBIT . 20 MOONS . SHE/HER . WINDCLAN
Mind you, Whiterabbit has turned the blindest of eyes to whatever all Maggotpaw's got going on. That's not her kit anymore, baby!! That's Whisperinghive's apprentice, and whatever goes on between those two is decidedly none of her business. Far be it from Whiterabbit to intrude on their sacred mentor-apprentice bond, and all. She's too busy already daydreaming about moving back in with the warriors. Maybe if she's lucky, there'll be space by Tinybunny's nest. Maybe she can put thorns in Goldenhoney's...that sounds fun. Should she beg to be put back on patrols as soon as possible now, or should she wait? Probably wait. The meeting's over now, but there's plenty of things everyone needs time to digest—a young killer needing to be put down, deathberries are a thing now...yikes—and she doesn't need to make a pest of herself and her wants right now, immediately.
Not to anyone who matters, anyway. After a biiiiig happy stretch, she decides that uncalled for violence against someone who has literally done nothing wrong to her is the only way forward. Whiterabbit's relieved to be free of her kit's needs and such, but she couldn't help but notice a certain somebody shouting its new name loud and proud as if he had the right to do so.
"Don't ever yell like that again." Here she is, voluntarily standing near Goldenhoney but not bothering to look right at him. She's not entirely sure she can trust herself to, but she was still quick to come on over here and quicker to open her scathing mouth. "I thought my ears were going to burst. It's a chant, not a strangled death wail." They're going to be sharing a den again soon, and she can't wait, and she hates that. So Goldenhoney has to pay in advance.

Once Goldenhoney finishes cheering, he notices Maggotpaw doesn't seem to happy with the whole thing.
But it's hard to tell.
Really, it's hard to know anything about your own kid when you can't see them because of someo-
Speak of the devil.
The golden bengal felt his ears droop a bit as soon as his ex-mate spoke to him.
Don't yell like that again?
Strangled wail?
"What, I can't support my kid?" He says, trying not to sound harsh, but he finds it a little difficult. He typically tries to avoid conversation with Whiterabbit, so this is definitely a whole new thing.

Re: WindClan Galewood
[CENTER] Duckthroat
106 Moons
He/Him
Duckthroat’s gaze softens as he looks at Maggotpaw, his heart warmed by the younger cat’s intense concern and affection.
" Maggotpaw, I’m alright," he says gently, his voice strained but sincere. " You don’t need to worry so much. I’m not going anywhere, and I’m not in any immediate danger. The clan is taking care of things."
He leans in to nuzzle Maggotpaw, grateful for the show of support. "I appreciate everything you’re doing. It means a lot to me. But you don’t have to learn how to execute cats or anything like that. What you need to focus on is staying strong and learning all you can. The best way you can help me—and everyone else—is by being the best warrior you can be."
Duckthroat pauses, looking at Maggotpaw with warmth. "I know it’s hard to see things like this. It’s not easy when someone we care about is hurt. But we can’t let anger or fear control us. Instead, let’s channel that energy into something positive. Be a good apprentice, learn your skills, and help keep our clan safe."
He rests a gentle paw on Maggotpaw’s shoulder. "I’m here, and I’ll be okay. You focus on your training and being there for your clanmates. We’ll all get through this together."
Duckthroat gives a reassuring purr, his eyes crinkling with a fond smile. " And as for the bugs, well—" he chuckles softly, "— I’ll leave that to you and Starclan’s sense of humor. Just remember, we’re a team. We look after each other."
He gives a final nuzzle, his tone filled with gratitude and affection. "Deal?"
