Flintfang bowed his head in rememberance for the newest death. He hadn't known Lizardfrost well, but he had no doubt that she'd served her station to the best of her ability. All Flintfang could hope for now was the constant stream of death to stop.

Birdpaw let out a startled squeak at the sight of Lizardfrosts body. Another dead cat?! Panic shooo her with worry for Stormpaw and Flickerpaw. Did the same thing happen to them?!

Padding forward to stand beside her Dad, she looked up at him, slightly nervous. Was she still technically his daughter, even though they never talked? Pressing her little body against his dark fur, she blinked up at him. "I'm sorry your friend passed away, Daddy." She whispered, trying to give him a comforting nuzzle.

Splashpaw

Splashpaw was lounging in the clearing, staring up at the sky. It was beautiful. She even thought she saw a cloud in the shape of a cat!

The black, messy furred she-cat was sitting away from the fallen cat in the clearing... she didn't know them well so she respectfully kept a distance until the cats closer to them got to visit.

The tom poked his head out of the apprentice den and for a moment stared in horror at the dead body. It wasn't that he hadn't see one before but it was upsetting, and honestly slightly scary that one of the Shields couldn't fend off a few cats, what did that mean for the clan? He stepped out and took a seat from Lizardfrost a respectful distance away, not wanting to bother the other cats that knew her, he could grieve later.

He never had to be the one to bring a body in. He had groomed Lizardfrost to the best of his abilities, covering her decaying scent with lavender. Wormbite's tail flickered back and forth, a tired rage resting in his hues. He walked to the middle of the clearing, gently setting the Shield onto the soft grass of her home. He leaned down to press his nose affectionately against her cheek before standing up. His shoulders shook with weary and sorrow.

Wormbite took a breath and then another, dropping his gaze to the ground. "Lizardfrost is no longer with us. However, she died a warrior's death even so. I found her near the outskirts border with two dead outsiders. They were not familiar but once more, do not approach the border. Especially if you are alone. We have lost too many clanmates. " His expression became unreadable, his pulse ringing inside his ears.

"Please come and pay your respects. Lizardfrost was a wonderful Shield." Wormbite pulled away, ears flattening to his skull. Too many lives. Slatewhisker's death hadn't even been expected from just one outsider. Did.. did it mean there were more? He couldn't understand. He wished to do more but all he could think of was personally attempting to track down these outsiders. Wormbite knew on his own was unlikely to yield any results but, he did not want to lose anymore clanmates. He's too many bodies in his damned lifetime.

Bouncepaws smile faded at the news of the Shields death. He ran over, looking for signs of life, he never really knew Lizardfrost that well, but he knew that she was a great shield. He looked up, “May I help bury her?” he asked

She put the fish in the fresh kill pile then sat around Lizardfrost to pay her respects and mourn with everyone...

Fawnpaw
She knew it before she even set paw in camp. It hung heavy in the air like the scent of fresh rain after a storm - though despite the sun that resided in the chilly sky there would be no bright light over this misfortune. Standing at the entrance of camp, stunned, was Fawnpaw. She couldn't see exactly who was being surrounded yet but it was another dead body. Pikestar, Wormbite, Birdpaw, Fogcloud, Mapledawn - so many of her Clanmates were there. Grieving. And yet, as the medicine cat looked on, all she could feel was a bone chilling numbness.

Not again. She couldn't do this again. She couldn't keep burying her Clanmates, her family.

With a soft, almost inaudible squeak, the young brown dappled she-cat turned and bolted further into the territory.

Her fault. Her fault. Her fault.
