Batkit wrinkled up his snout. They didn't like the sound of all of that stuff. What a pain it must be to have to serve the elders all the time! He almost wanted to stay a kit...but being an apprentice sounded like so much fun otherwise! Besides, he didn't have to care about all of that now. It must be a pain for Seapaw, though. Batkit felt bad for him.

Special place? Batkit nearly forgot about that! They nodded eagerly. "Yeah, yeah! Where is it?" He bounced in place, feeling excited and discarding his worries about the elders. Batkit hoped wherever this was in camp, it'd be as cool as Seapaw had made it sound.

Seapaw was a little bit worried now. Batkit probably thought the special place was in camp. "Its uh ... it's a bit out of camp, it's called cattail pond, we learn how to swim and hunt a bit there." Seapaw gulps, thinking that Batkit hopefully will come with him. "There's some shallow bits, shallow enough for you, maybe I could teach you too swim? That would be good, learning early" He meows, trying to convince Batkit, "Oh and there might be some really small chubs there, you could catch your first fish!" Seapaw meowed. What he was telling the kit he could do was probably really wrong ... no it wasn't 'probably' wrong, it was wrong. Maybe he should have just gone by himself. Batkit might tell on him now, then he would be in trouble and have to clean the elders ticks or something.

Huh? "Why is it out of camp? I...ohhh," Batkit trailed off as he realized that was why this was called an adventure game. The kit experienced a mental war. On one paw, he really wanted to learn to swim and fish, but on the other, wasn't this...against the rules? Batkit was pretty sure they couldn't just break the rules. Wouldn't Pikestar get mad? But...Seapaw seemed like he knew what he was doing. And the apprentice had said he could do all of those things. Batkit let out a tiny squeak of indecision. "Are you sure you're allowed?" But the kit already knew that even if they weren't, they may just end up following along. It was like that for him. Always doing what others want and never really doing much when others did bad things. Batkit supposed they could just back out and never tell anyone...but then all the apprentices would think he's just a boring, cowardly minnow! Which he was, but they still didn't want to look like that.

StreamFlake awoke to the sound of icekits voice, she blinked the sleep from her eyes as she tried to interpret the voice of Icekit

"Mom! Batkit went outside! With Seapaw!" Icekit mewed frantically, her fluffy pelt and tail spiked in fear

"Wha- What?! Icekit, make sure Houndkit is ok and stay put in the nursery until I come home." She said, standing up before taking a deep breath, it had been a while since she had left camp. With a strech of her slender body she shot off, following the scent of the apprentice and her child to the cattail pond.

Seapaw stopped and thought for a second. "Well it might be, but don't you wanna do all those things?" He asked Batkit. Honestly if he didn't want to go anymore he could just go by himself. The tiny kit would just be a coward Seapaw thought, he was adventurous as a kitten. Why couldn't this kitten? "I guess I could go by myself if you don't want too" He told the kit, starting to slowly walk off. Waving his tail side to side in excitement and to tell the kit to follow him if he wanted too. If Batkit didn't decide soon, he would just go by himself and probably never ask them again until they were an apprentice. He just hoped his mother hadn't found out yet. Mothers of kittens were always frantic about their kittens leaving the nursery without them knowing. Hopefully Seapaw would be able to avoid that.

Batkit really did want to go. He watched Seapaw walk off sadly. He didn't want to look like a coward, but the rules! But his reputation...the kit sighed and bounded after Seapaw. At least now all the apprentices would bow at their paws when their ceremony came. "Of course I'm coming with you for adventure," they said, reassuring themselves more than Seapaw. Maybe this would earn him a good nest in the den! In the future, some apprentice will surrender the superior nest to him, Batkit the not-coward! Well, he was getting ahead of himself. That probably wouldn't happen. Batkit watched Seapaw's tail for a moment, before joking, "With the way you wave your tail, a bird will think it's a worm and try to eat it!"

Seapaw smiled, Batkit was going to come with him. He stopped smiling when the kitten made a joke about him. It was kind of funny but ... but - Oh Seapaw couldn't say anything about it ... it wasn't a bad joke. He put his tail down and kept on walking.

It was snowing now ... a lot of snow ... why was it snowing anyway? Yes it was leaf-bare but still. The snow was cold on his paws but he ignored it. Hopefully Batkit wouldn't get too cold or complain that their paws were freezing. What would Seapaw do then? Carry him too Cattail Pond? No, then Seapaw himself would probably be complaining. Carrying kittens were queens or warriors jobs, kittens could be heavy. It would be like carrying a mini apprentice ... but Seapaw also hated hearing complaining. If Batkit complained too much he would probably carry him ... Ugh stop! Seapaw told himself, he was tired of hearing himself complaining about complaining and carrying kittens. Too tiring.

Seapaw stopped for a second to shake his pelt free of snow. "Bleh, Snow ..." He muttered. He then sat down and started grooming himself. Feeling wet because of snow was worse then swimming, and swimming was gross! He stopped for a second or two to make sure Batkit was following him, but he didn't see if he was actually following him or not. He stood up and kept on walking.

Streamflake wasnt a fool and understood immediately, with a hiss underneath her breath she shot off once more. Her baby was NOT going to be out here in this weather or for his age.

Batkit pounced on some rather fluffy snowflakes but forgot about the rest of the snow, essentially face-planting into it. He raised his head and shook the snow off. They peeked over a pile at Seapaw. Eh, he had time to fool around. Besides, adventure! They rolled around for a bit before popping back up and floundering through the snow after Seapaw. Or, well, what they thought was the apprentice. Really, Batkit was following the prints in the snow.

They took their sweet time, sure that they were mostly close behind the apprentice. "Isn't this snow-" Batkit broke off, flopping into the snow. "Pfft," he spat out some of the snow. "Isn't this just water? Am I swimming? Tech-tech ick lee? Technic-alley?" The kit struggled to say the big word. They picked up their pace, realizing they were further away from Seapaw than they'd originally realized. The apprentice was really good at walking for some reason.

Absently he wondered how he'd get all the snow out of his fur and look dry when he returned to the nursery. Streamflake would definitely not be happy if she ever found out about his adventure.
