Frostpaw emerged from the bush, scraps of the bush hanging off his pelt. He was glad when he saw Toadstripe bring the shrew down. "I know," he mewed, flicking a leaf off his shoulder. "I thought I had it. And then I didn't." That was about all he could say.

He was a bit disappointed when he announced they would be heading back to camp. He could have stayed out here all day. "Do we have to do back?" he pleaded, quickening his pace until he was beside his mentor. @Fawnhearted

"Not yet", Toadstripe purred, excited at his apprentices enthusiasm. "We have one more stop, then when you get back I'll let you pick from the fresh-kill pile, as long as you bring this shrew to the Elders, they may tell you a story", he added with a twinkle in his eye.

Leading Frostpaw through the territory they stopped at the last spot, the sun wasn't setting yet but it was close. "This is the Thunderpath, stay away from this in general, there aren't any monsters right now but I'm sure you've heard stories of them".

Frostpaw nodded quickly. Maybe they would share a story, too. He always liked that. He followed Toadstripe through the territory. After a while, he detected a faint bitter smell coming from ahead. It grew stronger as they walked and he wrinkled his nose. He glanced questioningly at the warrior, but before he could speak, Toadstripe began to explain.

"Why does it smell so bad?" he asked, bounding forward to get a closer look.

"That", Toadstripe said, "Is the smell of a mons-", he let out a hiss grabbing Frostpaw by the scruff and dragging the 'paw away as he tried to leap on the path and a monster rushed past.

"Lesson Number One!! WE DONT GET THAT CLOSE IF MONSTERS ARE APPROCHING", he meowed, his fur fluffed up as the monster sped by. He let out a sigh before turning apologetically "I'm sorry, not trying to treat you like a kit, you just need to be careful okay?'', Toadstripe said letting out a breath.

"I think its time we head back, take the shrew to the Elders and get something from the fresh-kill pile Frostpaw", he said as they soon reached the camp. Giving a playful tail flick over his shoulder he passed the apprentice the shrew and trotted off.

(There is the end of Frost's technically first day as a apprentice!! we can post in the thread again soon with a battle training in a few days)

Frostpaw didn't notice the rumbling noise until Toadstripe had tackled him to the ground. His eyes bulging, he stared silently after the retreating monster. "That a monster?" he breathed, still not moving. It was so much bigger then he had imagined.

He nodded as Toadstripe got off him. "I'll be more careful," he promised, already recovering from his shock. It would be a great story to tell his friends at dinner. He snatched up the shrew and bounded after Toadstripe.

Frostpaw padded lazily out the apprentice's den, his jaws stretched in a wide yawn. He was bored. He wondered if Toadstripe could go out and train him. Glancing around, he tried to spot his mentor. @Fawnhearted

"Frostpaw!", Toadstripe called as he saw his apprentice. Flicking his ear he beconed the younger cat over. "Today we're doing battle training ing", Toadstripe said eagerly.

"Battle training? Yes!" Frostpaw gave a happy leap into the air as he bounded over to Toadstripe. "I already know some great moves!" he boasted, hardly able to wait. "C'mon!" He dashed for the entrance.

Toadstripe gave a chuckle and dashed after the apprentice. He would have to teach him about dashing off, but the tabby was glad the younger cat was so excited. When they finally reached the training clearing he turned to Frostpaw.

"Claws sheathed, I want you to show me what you know, it's okay if you don't know too much", he said gesturing for Frostpaw to attack him. @MooingPanda

Toadstripe didn't bother moving, he wanted to see what the apprentice would do so he stood his ground waiting to see how Frostpaw would attack.
