Halfstone didn't let up, even though he'd been beaten and when he reached the beach, he flopped head over tail once before rolling and rolling amd rolling in the sand, becoming partially buried in it.
He lay there for a moment before leaping up and shaking the sand out of his fur. He approached Duskpaw.
"Yeah! Good race."

Still not used to the deep sand, she looked out at the crashing waves. Beautiful they really were. At the gathering she had only listened to them. Never saw them.
It took much more effort to run in the deep sand, though, oddly enough the sand hardened once she got close to the waters edge. She stopped, watching as the waves rolled in. She wondered for a split second if RiverClanners ever swam in the ocean, seemed like a death trap to her. Plopping down, she watched as the waves sometimes touched her toes. The sand felt weird in her fur but, hopefully it would come out pretty easily.
