rookfire broke through the undergrowth after mistlewhisker, silently like a slightly lighter tinted shadow than its source, as her voice broke the almost cozy atmosphere the two traitors had been harbouring, and took his stance by her side. he had intended on gathering some of the last watermint this season before the water got too cool and most of the plants would rapidly be reclaimed by the nature around, absorbed into the soil like every leafbare, and taken mistlewhisker for the simple reason of avoiding annoying any other cat and still being very much focussed on proving his worth to her so it was a win win in his books. what the medicine cat had not been expecting was the quiet echoes of voices at the border, causing a diversion of their original plans early on and finally peaking in the two high ranks confronting foggymask, whom rookfire was admittedly happy to see here, and some unknown riverclan molly.
there hadnt been any direct contact or any of them crossing the border considerably just yet, but the conversation they had heard was enough incriminating evidence in addition to how close the two had gotten overall. striped tail briefly jerking in excitement at the possibility of taking part in his first execution, rookfires face remained mostly blank, letting nothing but the disappointment reflect openly. if rookfire didnt have a appearance to uphold, especially being out with mistlewhisker at this moment, he mightve let himself be a bit more joyous about having been right foggymask was a traitor with too much confidence and he had known to all along stars damn it! foggymasks behaviour during the enforcer challenge had only solidified his suspiciouns more, so at this point, he wasnt sure how much more solid the evidence couldve gotten before there were consequences. slacker, selfish, traitor. all the things rookfire fought against ever becoming himself. in some twisted way, this was like driving the final stake through the heart of what he himself couldve become, pampered by riverclan or letting shadowclan feed him through the seasons by luck alone. that version of himself didn exist and the possibility of it would die with foggymask.

BlueberryFrost bowed. "I'm very sorry. You may tell StormStar what I did." She would rather get demoted than die. She didn't really want an exile. She didn't want a demotion either, but it was better than exile. "You will never see me here again." The riverclanner dipped her head once more. Who knew just needing fresh air turned into this? She didn't realize she was on ShadowClan territory. "I'm sorry I trespassed. This will never happen again." She thought for a second. "If i may leave, i can go tell StormStar."@Mica @otter @alec

"Foggymask, Foggymask, Foggymask," Each utterance took on a lower tone until the name was snarled out in disgust. "Consorting with minnows, how low have you fallen?" The mass of raw muscles and scars slithered out of the darkness with a lash of her tail. Dawnstar shook her pelt and paused beside the medicine cat apprentice and deputy to stare at the blabbing guppy.
"Swim home little minnow and make sure Stormstar knows that ShadowClan will happily start lining her borders with bodies if any of you fish touch mine again."Dawnstar shooed the RiverClan warrior away with a dismissive wave of her paw.
"So not only did you make a fool of yourself and me when I was kind enough to give you a chance to prove yourself to the clan as Enforcer material, you went out of your way to go against my order and are trifling with the weakest and the most unstable clan in the forest." WindClan or even ThunderClan would be more desirable than spoiled fish long past their prime.
"You bring such shame to ShadowClan. So you've got two choices, you can die with what little honor you have left as a ShadowClan cat or I can let you walk away, never allowed to carry the ShadowClan name again, never to return, and live out the rest of your days as a disgraceful loner. Choose. She demands Foggymask.

He had thought nobody would be patrolling the borders, nobody here to see him. He was wrong. Foggymask had began to say something when Mistlewhisker interrupted him. His fur fluffed up in surprise, ears pinned back in shock. And then Dawnstar showed up. His silky tail tucked between his legs, he lowered his head in shame.

BlueberryFrost flinched. "I will be leaving. Thank you for this warning." She bowed to the Shadowclan leader before heading back. What was she thinking? She knew this wouldn't turn out well. She didn't want to tell the leader what happened and get exiled, but it was for the best. @Undertaker @Mica @alec @otter

the unfamiliar riverclan molly apologised and rookfire sure hoped she valued mistlewhiskers nice offer, take her ass to stormstar and get exiled or worse. well, perhaps death was the easy escape in this situation, theyd be without a clan, found out to be traitorous and taking their own need for comradiry to the border instead of their own darn clan mates. hell, rook had not heard a lot of the conversation but for all they new, and with how sensitive the informations shared between the two were, this may as well be the seventh time! or whatever came after seven! or the number after that number, or-
the medicine cat apprentice supressed a snappy 'you better keep to your word' at what he would call her closing statement, remaining as quiet as he had before in order to not dig himself a deeper grave in mistlewhiskers books. honestly, the line between showing independent thinking and skill and metaphorically stepping on her paws was too thin and smeared for rook to really be able to do anything if he got the chance to overthink it long enough to convince himself the outcome would be horrible. were this a more fast paced situation, some kind of darn fight breaking out he was sure he could handle himself just fine...not that he wasnt doing so right now, standing besides his deputy and hopefully looking scary enough to make the riverclanner run and hide was enough for now.
remaining white tipped ear swivvled behind at the undergrowth moving out of the way with the slightest rustle, dawnstar appeared next to them and oh foggymask was so cooked. rookfires angular head turned to the side ever so slightly, just enough to allow him to actually look at dawnstar despite the eyesight he lacked on his left as she addressed the traitor, words dripping with venom and chasing a slight shiver down his spine. man he was glad he wasnt the one standing face to face with an angry dawnstar.
words, stabbing at foggymask with ease, at least from what he knew, continued to fill the silence between them, almost as if the birds had stopped singing to listen, he wouldnt judge them at all. dawnstar let the riverclanner go as well, rookfire took note of the higher ranking cats behaviour in case he would see himself faced with a situation akin to this alone and without guidance to confirm his choices as good. to be honest, he was glad the queen of mean brought up exactly those points that had been burning just an inch beneath his skin, insistent. all apart from his lacking on patrol, a minor issue, yet more fuel added to the fire.
die with a resemblance of the shadowclan honour he still carried or be chased away. foggymask chose death. rookfire wouldve as well. but this wasnt him facing execution, this was him quietly hopeful dawnstar might make him execute her command. given both dawnstar and mistlewhisker were here, it was more than highly unlikely, but how do people say? hope dies last. even if said hope was in relation to being ordered to murder a cat almost twice his age for shadowclan.

Mistlewhisker was keenly aware of Rookfire's presence beside her, as well as the former RiverClanner's habit of targeting RiverClan cats in social situations. Frankly, Mistlewhisker didn't care how he felt about his former clanmates as long as it wasn't disruptive to his/ShadowClan's security and reputation. She could tell he really wanted to be the one to kill either Foggymask or the RiverClan molly. Mistlewhisker wasn't inclined to let him--he was a medicine cat, now.
Another presence lumbered up to the border, and a thrill shot through Mistlewhisker's pelt at her mate's arrival. Dawnstar glowered at Foggymask, saying what all of them had been thinking since the Enforcer challenge. She offered the same thing Mistlewhisker had to Blueberryfrost, but unlike the molly who fled with her tail between her legs, Foggymask chose death. Hm. Well, she would give him that. He would keep his honor as a ShadowClan cat till his last breath rather than flee like a coward. The Deputy fixed Dawnstar with a cool gaze--her executioner was ready.
Dawnstar's golden eyes followed the RiverClanner as she slunk away, then turned to Foggymask as he made his decision quite quickly. It had been obvious who'd wanted to live the rest of their lives as a disgrace. Now then, who to kill him? Dawnstar wasn't getting her paws dirty on such filth it was far too much of an honor to die by her claws.
Mistlewhisker was the obvious choice, but Rookfire wasn't hiding his desire to kill the traitor. Dawnstar was well aware that her mate would kill if ordered, and as fun as it was to watch Dawnstar wanted to give Rookfire a chance to handle it. He may be a medicine cat now, but Dawnstar wholeheartedly encourages violence and fighting to remain a part of her medicine cats' lives even after taking on a position of healing. Few seemed to remember how many battles Elmshadow jumped into as a medicine cat. ShadowClan had a reputation, a name to uphold, she couldn't have the clans forgetting they were cold no matter the rank they hold.
"You're practically vibrating with bloodlust. Go ahead," She nodded to Rookfire to carry out the deed. She flickered her tail along her mate's ear as she stretched. Mistlewhisker might be a little sore about not being given the right to kill the traitor, but they could always find her something else to kill like a certain irritating Skunkcat. One of these days, WindClan would give her a reason to have Mistlehwisker bring her Crowtooth pelt. If she waited long enough she was sure she'd get it.
"Clean up when you're done, I want the body tossed into the outskirts. Traitors don't get buried among the honorable." Dawnstar told them, melting into the shadows as she departed.

sharp grey eyes shining with what dawnstar had more or less rightfully described as bloodlust, rookfire briefly sought out her eyes "yes ma'am" before pinning down foggymask with his gaze. tail jerking from side to side in quick motions, he stepped up to foggymask slowly before ramming his (bad) shoulder into the others side with one paw placed next to the older warriors, knocking him sideways onto the ground. quickly, he shifted to pressing a paw down on the warriors shoulder, his own quietly aching with the impact of bone on bone as he leaned down.
jaws closing around foggymasks throat, white tipped paw heavy on the warriors shoulder to keep him in place as he yanked upwards. it was oddly familiar, to stand over a cat and tear his head back in order to dislodge flesh and ultimately tear into the other airways, only this time it was a traitor belonging to his own clan instead of a unknown apprentice that just so happened to be the one he got his claws on first. this would be a lot cleaner as well, no unnecessary tearing and shredding, just enough to end the others life without much suffering or waiting around.
sharp fangs digging into flesh, it wasnt long until something inside the traitors flesh prison gave away with a quiet crunching sound beneath the pressure of his bite and foggymask stilled. the medicine cat apprentice let off the traitor, bite mark and the part of flesh he had yanked loose well visible even from a couple of steps away and sandpaper tongue running along his bloodied maw briefly as dawnstar gave orders. before long, the leader had left, as soon as the deed was done, disappearing into the shadows as if she had never been here in the first place.
rookfire gave mistlewhisker a brief glance, looking for some sort of confirmation that he had done well, or at the very least acted correctly, before tugging foggymasks remains onto his back to carry him to the outskirts. blood sluggishly dripping from the warriors wound and onto dark fur, rookfire half-heartedly made an attempt to scratch some soil over the bit that had splattered onto the ground before finally starting their journey towards the outskirts.

Dawnstar allowed Rookfire to do the execution, so Mistlewhisker stepped back to give him room. Dawnstar's tail flicking her ear earned a raised brow from the Deputy, a glimmer of amusement sparkling in her eye before disappearing behind the wall of neutrality she usually kept over her emotions.
Rookfire killed Foggymask swiftly, and without much ceremony the two brought the body to the outskirts to dump it. Mistlewhisker prayed that Foggymask would find his way to wherever he belonged in the afterlife. Even though he was annoying and a tentative traitor, he was still a clan cat and had died with his ShadowClan status intact.
Once they were done, Mistlewhisker headed back with Rookfire.
