Daffodilpaw gave a little bounce of joy at Elkjump's response. She hadn't seen all of the borders yet, and couldn't help feeling excited. Daffodilpaw purred in response. "That sounds great!" But then, she had a moment to think about it. And felt herself shrink beneath her pelt. "What if...what if we run into a RiverClan patrol?" She was too young to remember the battle with RiverClan, but she's heard the stories. The thought of having to fight other cats made her nervous.

Elkjump responded gladly “Riverclan is not there, they're exiled from the forest for 4 moons." Gladly, as in Daffodilpaw was lookin out for herself

Daffodilpaw released a sigh of relief and smiled up at Elkjump. "That's good." She commented, shuddering as she remembered the stories she heard about the battle. "May StarClan bring them back renewed." She murmured her small prayer before looking back at their path. Then another thought made her nervous. "What if rogues moved in?" Her eyes wide with horror. She couldn't imagine have cats with no faith in StarClan as her neighbors, what would become of the clans?!

Elkjump giggled “They won't, don't worry about it." Ironic for him to say that really. Finally, coming to a stop near a very damp area,Elkjump turned to his apprentice. "Here, Sedgewater Valley, so while we are here I'll show you how to scent a border ." Lifting his tail and rubbing it on a nearby tree.

Daffodilpaw felt comforted by Elkjump's response and smiled up at him. If her mentor wasn't worried, she wasn't either. Feeling much more safe and confident, she followed Elkjump up to the border. She barely had to take a sniff where he indicated before having to back away. The scent of her own clan was strong, but beyond that border were so many different scents that she felt overwhelmed. "Ack!" She yelped as she startled backwards, covering her nose with her tail. "Why does it smell like that?" She asked, rubbing her nose and looking to her mentor. "Is it because...RiverClan isn't here to mark their borders? I can smell ours..." She carefully took another half a whiff. "I can smell...fish. But it's barely there."

Haha, Elkjump had that reaction when he was a apprentice . “You'll get used to it! Oh the fish smell is because Riverclans diet,compared to our rabbits, is mostly made of varieties of fish.” The tom explained

Daffodilpaw wrinkled her nose and nodded. She carefully stepped forward to where Elkjump was and sniffed again. It smelled...wild. The RiverClan scent wasn't as strong on the other side of the border as the WindClan scent was on their side. She turned to her mentor with wide eyes. "I like our clan's scent better." She stated confidently.

Daffodilpaw beamed again and nodded excitedly. "Okay!" As she started to bounce away she paused and turned to look at her mentor. "Did you...maybe wanna race there?" She asked, her eyes glittering with hope and excitement. She still had so much pent up energy, but she didn't want to go too far away from Elkjump.
