Wormkit tilted his head as he watched her suddenly freak out over hunting "eh- What are they gonna do if you're a little bit late?" He teased playfully sticking his tongue out "If you want, I can try to help" He said with a casual shrug. The apprentice aged kit grinned down at her.

Vinepaw shook her head. "My mentor would kill me if I didn't bring back prey yet. I bet the elders are complaining! You would understand since we're both apprentices." She meowed.

Vinepaw listened to the offer. "Alas. I would say yes but the prey would have your scent all over it." She muttered and twitched her tail.

Wormkit laughed, a bit more nervously than he intended "right- yeah sorry about that. I dunno my mentor just lets me do what i want basically" He said, lying through it's teeth.

It frowned at the fact she was going to have to leave though "We should definitely meet up again, you're really cool" He said, flashing a charming smile.

It flinched at her question, though it was barely noticable "mm- My mentor" He paused for a moment, furrowing his brows, he had to be quick. It didn't have much time to make up a lie

"His name is Foxleg, he's a pretty cool dude. He's taught me so much so far, i know most borders and all the pretty cool places in Shadowclan like the back of my paw!" It said, puffing it's chest out.

He was counting on her not knowing his entire clan, which felt unlikely she would but he could never be too sure. He watched her actions and expressions closely as he awaited her response.

The Shadowclan kit visibly relaxed as she either went along with it or believed him. He nodded, relieved at the almost immediate topic change "I'd love to, you sure your clan won't shred your pelt for having shadowclan scented prey?" It asked tilting it's head.

Wormkit wrinkled his nose at the thought of garlic covered prey but nodded "Fair, i guess if it works it works" He said with a laugh.

All it's attention turned to a small noise it heard from a small distance away. His ears perked as he turned to the noise. It was on the Shadowclan side of the border for sure, sounded like a squirrel. He crouched, creeping towards the sound.

He darted off in the direction the the squirrel. There was silence, then the sound of Wormkit struggling to climb up a tree, then a loud snap as the branch below him broke. The kit and the branch fell to the ground with a crash. Wormkit quickly stood up and brushed himself off. Tears of embarassment began to sting the corners of his eyes. He refused to let them fall though.

Wormkit squeezed his eyes shut tightly until his tears were under control. He couldn't come back empty pawed though. The smoky black and white speckled tom sucked air through his teeth as his muscles ached. He sighed heavily as this would also affect his hunting.

He was gone for a bit longer, probably about 15 minutes, give or take a few minutes. He returned with a scrawny squirrel and a decently plump mouse. He dropped them at the border where they had been, unsure if she would still be there or if she was still off hunting as well. He sat by his prey and waited, hoping no other Thunderclan cats would find him.

As she neared the border he slowly rose to his paws picking his prey back up. He crossed the border and dropped it closer to her. He gave a small smile as he saw her catches, a pang of jealousy clawed at his stomach but he tried his best to ignore it "Nice catch!" He said as enthusiastically as he possibly could right now.

The kit shifted away a bit, flinching in pain at the movement "oh- uh no i don't know what it was, It scarred away the squirrel I was following" He said, completely lying. His tail twitched behind it as it looked on at her.
