“Alright—for a battle crouch, you have to be very careful. You have to bend your legs enough but not too much so you’re ready to dart around quickly if needed. Always be ready to move!” as she spoke she got into the instructed crouch. “It’s good to keep your head low to the ground and your ears pinned all the way back to hide them from attacks. For your tail, you have a few options. Cats will go for it from behind, and you don’t want to lose it! You can tuck it in between your legs, which is what I like, or coil it around one of your back legs!” she explained to the kit.

"But doesn't that look like you're scared?" She mewed curiously, mimicking the move and trying to keep her ears pinned back. Her excitement betrayed her as her ears kept popping back up. She glanced over to Bristlethorn multiple times, attempting to get the move perfect.

She glanced her attention over to the kit to inspect her skill. “Be sure to keep your ears- yep, like that.” she nodded, but then her words jinxed her as the kits ears kept popping back up. She did her best to suppress a small chuckle, but failed. “Scared? The ears or the tail tucked in? Either way, both should be obvious it’s for defense. Ya don’t wanna lose a tail, that can be a whole painful process. And for the ears, it can also be threatening, but ya don’t want to make the same mistake I did and injure your ear.” she flashed her nicked ear to show the injury. “I’ve seen much worse too, cats missing half or their whole ear.”

"Oh whoa! Yea! I wanna be able to hear!" She mewed, not fully understanding that a nick in the ear wouldn't deafen her. I mean, kits don't know much anyways! Muddykit took a deep breath, stiffening up and scrunching up her face for a second before letting it go and relaxing back down into the crouch, making sure to keep her ears back. She had heard about the heroes of old stories taking deep breaths, it really worked!

The warrior would've corrected the kit on thinking it made you deaf, but she was just so darn cute! The kit could find out the truth some other time. “Pretty good! Just tuck your tail in a bit more!” she instructed.
