The blue-eyed she cat looked around as she heard the familiar voice of her brother, Bramblekit. Of course he would participate, too. "You really think we will be leaving the camp?" Snowkit meowed when her brother told her not to wander off. She gave him a quick lick on the shoulder and a kind of mocking smile. She knew he just meant well and tried to protect her, but she couldn't resist the urge to tease him at least a little. The question was partly serious though, and another kit had the same thought apparently. The white and grey kit twitched her ears when the other one asked Rookfire if they would hunt for real outside. For a second, Snowkit felt a rush of excitement. Hunt outside like the apprentices and warriors! But she knew better. The chances of them going out were rather.. small.
Snowkit looked back at her brother and meowed with a lowered voice: "You think we have an advantage at this? Because of the times mother has left us outside I mean..." She spoke so quiet that hopefully nobody else heard her. It wasn't anyones business how their mother treated them sometimes. At least in her opinion. But at the same time, she kinda wished that someone knew. Someone saw. So that maybe someone could explain to her why her mother did what she did.
Snowkit gave Bramblekit a questioning look. As annoying as he could be from time to time, she was happy he was her brother, so that she didn't have to endure her mothers parenting techniques alone. She would absolutely be able to endure them by herself, but it was nice to have someone who understood. At least sometimes.
Bramblekit only grunted at Snowkit’s tease, turning his gaze to the side. He knew that she was teasing him, and he knew that he was being overprotective. But still…he felt the reminder was warranted. But he still shrugged in response to his sister’s question. “I’m not sure, it’s not like there’s prey here.” He mewed pointedly, echoing Adderkit’s question. “Unless they have warriors bring prey to us?” He tilted his head at the question, asking it to nocat in particular. He was certain they’d find out.
Bramblekit’s ear flicked at Snowkit’s other question, and he gave her a pointed glance. He didn’t want to bring attention to their…family situation in such a public space. Not because he wanted to protect their mother, honestly he couldn’t care less about her. But he didn’t know if the clan would believe them, and if they didn’t then their mother’s wraith would be on another level. He nodded subtly in agreement. “At the very least, we have better endurance.” He murmured, his words no louder than a breath. Though he begrudged admitting it, their mother’s ‘training’ regimen did serve its purposes sometimes. They were certainly better prepared for this, and almost any training or lesson, than their peers.
Spiritkit slowly slunk over. Hunting! Oh, joy! Anything to be the best.

starting this by saying, i did not expect this many people to show up wow. secondly, kits can still join after we have started, i dont really mind that. finally, i wasnt super sure when to post here because i wanted to let people arrive first lol but since ppl can still join after i am going to aim for one rook post every 2 or 3 days to avoid inactivity :3
rookfire had, for one, not expected for the nursery to hold this many kits, and even less so expected for so many to be interested. lots of dawnspawn appeared from somewhere in the clearing as well which was fortunate since he hadnt planned on asking at dawnstars den. lots of little voices squeaked replies, mostly proclaiming theyd participate and how good they would be, a little tabby one (rowankit) that he was pretty sure didnt come out of the nursery squinted up at him, the only one politely asking. "yes of course"
scorpionkit screaming all over the clearing was not the plan and he leaned down slightly to shush the kit, "hey hey i can hear you, no need to scream yeah?" voice sparked slightly with the half-laugh he huffed alongside.
briefly overwhelmed by the amount of kits, he had lost track of what he was going to say until another kits little voice carried over to him, very good question yes phenomenal thats what he was going to talk about, the how. "good question! you guys are a bit too small ta' take outside right now but we'll have fun in here i promise you"
stepping around the kits sitting by his paws, the medic moved a tail length or two away to be able to look at all of them at once. "first up, my name is rookfire n im the medicine cat apprentice right now. can ya tell me your names?, i dont know all yet" casual chatter first, 'hunting' later, he had not planned anything super exciting besides the regular mossball stuff n letting them have a go at his tail so rook tried to keep his hopes for genuinely sparking excitement in check. though he hope of learning all their names over the course of this was also limited, he'd prefer know at least a few to avoid calling them 'you' and pointing or 'wee one' irrationally often.

Stars above, her siblings were loud! Wincing at the sudden unexpected interaction (although she’d never admit it) Rowankit wrinkled her nose and brought her paws up to block her ear canals. The little tabby leaned back slightly, one whisker brown raising in skepticism. Oh, but they were friendly. Sighing, the larger-than-average kit grinned, raising one paw to gently poke at Scorpionkit with the other still coving an ear. ”Shhh! Gotta be quiet so we can hear Rookfire!” Rowan protested particularly playfully, then took her other paw to whack at Pantherkit too. ”We’ll be good hunters! I promise~ we got this!” the Heartbreaker chirped. Placing both paws down normally again. She wondered what would happen if she tried to yoink Rookfire’s tail… but she couldn’t risk getting in trouble! No, no, of course not. ”Hey Scorpionkit,,” She whispered, ”I dare you to try and pounce on Rookfire’s tail. He’ll be super proud of your hunting abilities!” The best way to be mischievous and stay out of trouble was to make others cause mischief, and then scold them when they finished. It was an ingenious plan, and deathly hilarious! Oh, it seemed Rookfire had some plans. Medicine cat apprentice? A being to impress, it seemed! Silently, without a word, she lifted one paw and supposedly poked Scorp in the back, urging her on. Go on, cause drama! Problems! But the movement could easily be shrugged off as accidental, so there was a 50/50 chance the other would pick up what Rowankit was putting down. "I'm Rowankit, one of Dawnstar's. And these are my siblings." The little tabby motioned to Scorpionkit and Pantherkit with one paw, then flicked it over in the direction of Breezekit, then Adderkit. "So are they.. but maybe you know that." The kitten's ears quirked slightly. Rowan would allow her siblings to introduce themselves, no need to do it for them.
Though he begrudged admitting it, their mother’s ‘training’ regimen did serve its purposes sometimes. They were certainly better prepared for this, and almost any training or lesson, than their peers.
The white and grey kit flicked her ears at her brothers question. Smart thinking, that was absolutely a possibility. But she didn't answer anything because she understood he was just kind of thinking out loud. Her gaze wandered around between the kits that had gathered and then back to Bramblekit as he answered her question. "That is true." Snowkit simply answered and started to lick her chestfur. "Actually, I don't think we need endurance for this. Rookfire'll probably just let us catch some mossballs or somethin'. It's only mother who'd lead us out of camp and let us fend-", she swallowed and interrupted herself, her eyes darkening as she looked down on her paws. Her brother would know what she meant. "Nevermind. Let's focus." Snowkit didn't want to think about their mother anymore. It just made her sad, and even a little angry.
Rookfire's voice caught her attention, and Snowkit looked up to the medicine cat apprentice. She waited her turn and meowed "I'm Snowkit." the kit stood up as she spoke and sat down again when she was done, her fluffy tail wrapped around her paws.
Bramblekit blinked at Snowkit in acknowledgement. She was probably right, but having more endurance would help them outlast their denmates at the very least. He looked up at Rookfire when he asked for their names. “Bramblekit.” He meowed, lifting his tail as he introduced himself.
"Scorpi!!" A squeal of delight exploded from Venomkit's maw in response to Scorpionkit's sudden appearance. This would be twice as fun now that she was here! Scorpi's energy seemed to matched her own even if their noise levels weren't exactly in sync they both were loud! Scorpion just seemed to have extreme vocal capacity, which was super awesome in her eyes! Maybe one day she would be even louder..
Ears swivelled around as another familiar voice made itself know. "Pan!!" Another shriek of joy and the toygress was literally bouncing up and down in a frenzy of purring and grinning so wide her cheeks hurt. The small kitten was so succumbed with exhilaration that she hardly heard the dark cat until she had finally calmed down enough to realise that Rowankit was introducing them, well she missed out her!
"Hey, I'm here as well Rowwy!" The braided tabby pouted crossly before turning to who she now knew as Rookfire. "I'm Venom! And Dawnstar's my Mammy, too!" Honestly, she mostly only knew her mother as 'Mammy' at that point but her sister introduced her and her littermates as her kits so guess that was her name. Flashing an ecstatic smile, she reverted back to her overly enthusiastic demeanour. "I wanna hunt, now, now!"

Satisfied with the answer she got, Adderkit took a few steps back so she wasn't exactly crowding around the older tom any longer. She knew for a fact that she would hate being crowded around so she would rather not contribute to the problem. Thus she sat down two tail lengths away, neatly tucking her tail around her paws and sitting attentively. She briefly glanced over at her siblings debating if she wanted to join them but decided against it and turned to look back up the older cat as he spoke again. Now he was properly introducing himself. Rookfire a medicine cat. She stored both this names in the back of her mind knowing they'd be useful information. Whatever a medicine cat was, she knew it was important and if Rookfire was a medicine cat apprentice then that made him important. Someone she needed to respect, not like she didn't try to respect everyone that is. "Adderkit, one of Dawnstar's daughters." One of Dawnstar's many many Daughters. She remembered some kit, uh Bearkit, telling her being the kit of Dawnstar made her important. She believed them at first and it was a nice thought but she come to think it untrue. Or atleast partially untrue.
Addrrkit turned to look at every kit as the introduced themselves, she didn't think she would remember all their names. Maybe in time. Adderkit watched as Rowankit introduced herself, smiling as her sister then pointed to her. She gast venomkit a small smile too as she introduced herself and then declared that she wanted to hunt. Her siblings might be loud and annoying, but they were her siblings. So no matter what they did or how much they annoyed her, she would always be fond of them...even Scorpionkit and grottokit...and wolfkit. The whole lot of them were important to her.
She did notice that rookfire hadn't mentioned much about how they would be hunting, just that they would and it would be fun. Her previous satisfaction weakened as she turned to look at the medicine cat apprentice quizzically. Not only how would they be hunting but also how was he going to teach them? She knew all the hunting and fight was done by warriors and apprentices. Medicine cats, the name she had just learnt, spent all their time with plants. She was curious about that, she liked plants herself but that was a question she would be asking the other tom. In other words that was a question for the professional. "Um, your say your a medicine cat apprentice right. How are you supposed to teach us how to hunt? I thought you just spend time hunting for plants not prey?" she asked trying to sound polite and genuine, she didn't want her question to come off in the wrong way because she was genuinely curious! Okay!? She was rude... hopefully. Did the question sound rude? "sorry.." she added quietly.
