Quilkit flicked his tail. He was going to have to be creative to have a conversation. "Did you do anything today?"

Pebblekit thought about the question for a couple seconds, "umm, I slept, I snuggled with Songbird, and I played with a rock!" she responded, "what did you do?" she asked, tilting her head.

Thornleaf was just sitting out in the open in the camp, enjoying the nice warm air. It felt nice to let the sun soak in, but it wouldn't last long. Not only won't it last long for the sun to leave, but he would have to go do some hunting. There would be no time to stay in the camp, doing nothing.

The large fluffy grey tom glanced around with his green eyes, looking at the clanmates who were out in the camp too. Thornleaf gave one of his huge left paws a lick before drawing it over his face to wash himself. He also did that to the other side.

"Nothing really," he looked towards the entrance. "Wished that someone could've gotten me company, but I guess you've fixed that problem," he looked back at Pebblekit, smiling.

Rushingmoor laughed and shot back,

“Ah but you observed that!”

His tone was light and he couldn’t help laughing again at his own stupid response. It probably wasn’t the best comeback he could’ve come up with, but he found humor in backing up statements with ridiculous facts and watching the other cats grow more and more frustrated with his faulty logic. Some cats really believes him to be a mouse-brain for a few moments before he revealed he was messing with them.

Twilightstar’s question caught him by surprise and he had to think of how to explain. His reasoning might have been a bit odd, but it wasn’t anything super secretive- she already knew of his plan, she might as well know his reasons to avoid credit. Rushingmoor simply didn’t want to seem too eager to other cats. He preferred to be unemotional and uninvolved and it was easier to be that way all the time than have to explain his occasional wish to pursue things outside of working to keep the clan safe and fed.

“Well,” he eventually answered, “I would prefer the clan not know that I think about these things. I guess I just prefer to be seen as one dimensional- and planning out a tournament for the clan isn’t the most intimidating thing i could be doing. It’s not like fighting off a rogue or catching prey for the pile.”

Rushingmoor knew that ideas bettered the clan just as much as physical activities, yet the discomfort still urged him to stay in his lane. He wasn’t a big thinker type. He wasn’t a senior warrior or a medicine cat or leader- he did the physical things. He ran and fought and hunted. That was his lane.

Gentlemoo smiled as he realized that his daughter seemed quite happy with his licking so he continued to lick her pelt, despite his tongue was getting tired from grooming her, plus he didn’t want to lick her fur off, so he stopped.
