Willowpaw padded into the clearing.
She wasn’t really sure how to personally address the clan leader, so she settled for, “Twilightstar! Could you please come here?” that sounded good, and she added, “there’s someone here to see you!”

Leafpaw crouched in the clearing, tail held high and curved towards her back. The apprentice's blue eyes were fixed on a butterfly that lay between her snow-white forepaws.

Leopardpaw, bored as usual when she was in camp, needed someone to talk to again.

She spotted another apprentice, Leafpaw.
Okee dokee, that was fine with her!

She trotted over to the other apprentice, having noticed she was crouching, but she hadn't noticed the butterfly.

"Whatcha doin'?" Leopardpaw asked curiously.

The brown-and-white she-cat jumped at the sound of her denmate's voice. The butterfly - having noticed Leopardpaw - fluttered away before Leafpaw could catch it.

''Mouse dung!'' Leafpaw cursed, giving a lash of her tail. Blue eyes fixed on Leopardpaw, but they were not angry. Instead, they were unreadable.

''I was trying to catch that butterfly you just scared off,'' The Clan Leader's apprentice complained, settling back onto her haunches, plumy tail lying flat on the ground. Leafpaw's ears flattened against her head slightly.

"Oh, sorry!" She said, looking enthusiastic again.

"Anyway, how are you doing?"

Leopardpaw grinned cheerfully.
"I'm doing awesome!" She said happily "I learned to hunt a little bit ago, I caught a vole! It was really cool."

She was still really proud of that vole.

"I'm sure you'll learn too!" She chided "Plus, I'm sure, having Twilightstar as a mentor and all that, you'll get through your apprenticeship fast! She's really smart and strong, and stuff."
