The last couple moons had been rough, to say the least. Wolfhive hadn't been badly wounded in the attack on RiverClan, but had acquired an unforeseen complication from the fight... Illness. If the fish were good at one thing, it was confining Wolfhive to bed duty.
Recovery had been hard. Springlight hadn't been around lately to tend to this affliction, and admittedly he was a little too stubborn to someone else try to treat him. Springlight had proven herself to him time and time again as a healer, others... had a lot of work to do before he'd let them near him with herbs.
Today was the first day he'd actually felt fine enough to leave camp. His body still had tell-tale aches and found himself trying to catch his breath once they were out of camp, but other than that? Great, just a little tired. Better than throwing up like he'd done after taking out those two traitors.
"Good.. day for an outing," he breathed softly. The sun was shining brightly, spreading warmth through his fur as they passed through the sun-spotted woods.
"'m glad you're here, 'ma." If there was ever company Wolfhive longed for, it'd be Bumba's aways.
"No one's been around here in a bit," he mused after a moment, as they neared the outskirts of the Haggard Ruins. Maybe it was his nose being messed up still.. he just didn't really smell ThunderClan all that well.
Instead, what he smelled was dampness. Water? Wolfhive twitched his nose in confusion. It hadn't rained since he was confined to camp, at least as far as he could remember. And it certainly wasn't raining right now, as the sun continued to shine overhead, but the closer they got to the ruins the more mushy the ground became, as if it'd been soaking up rainfall.
"Why the hell is it so wet over here?"
