"Why would I want a new mom." Maggotkit's flat tone makes it clear that this question s rhetorical, insincere; it can't imagine wanting to replace its mother even if she really was dead. "Stop asking or I'll say you hurt me."

Maggotkit also knows that this is another easy way to make warriors talk the way it wants them to, so it throws the threat out casually before its attention is drawn by Frogkit's injury. Oh?

"Your mouth is bleeding. Frogkit's mouth is bleeding. Can I touch it?" Maggotkit has no interest in the emotions present in this moment. It wants what it wants. "Frogkit I wanna see. Say aaaah."

Maggotkit looks crestfallen for all of two, three seconds before its features clear, unbothered once more. "Oh," it mews. "Okay."

It can't think of what to say to make these two act the way it wants. Flowerheart has already called its fib. Maggotkit doesn't like that.

"No," it says simply, but it doesn't try to embellish the lie any further. It leaves it at that since the pair are moving away, now, and will no longer be Maggotkit's problem. It stares after them, rolling the image of Frogkit's bleeding mouth over in its head. Interesting.

Maggotkit steps back, peering around the clearing. Its sunny patch from before has fled, eaten by a cloud-cast shadow. Now what?
