Willowfang stepped into the clear patch of grass and flicked her tail towards her apprentice, Foxpaw. "Alright, Fox, it's time for your first official border patrol. Tawny's the leader, so you have to stay behind her and not mess around." Willow ended her sentence with a hint of a growl spicing her voice.

Tawnyflame quietly padded beside the other warrior and mentor, enjoying the sounds of the forest. She turned aa Willowfang explained to her apprentice who she still hadn't seen catch up, but hopefully the apprentice was just a few fox lengths behind. With a flick of her tail she neared the border and sniffed at the air for a moment.

"Just make sure to be quiet, and don't cross the scent markers. We don't want to be long." She said before rubbing her cheek against a tree along the Shadowclan border. There shouldn't be any trouble today.

"Fine. Fine. Fine." Foxpaw sighed dramatically as she walked around the path beside her mentor. "I'll try not to mess around...." Fox half-closed one eye. "But I'm still itching to get Riverclan fur under my claws! I would rip them to shreds protecting Shadowclan!!"

[Willow_fang]

"Shh!" Willow snapped at Foxpaw. "Did you not just hear Tawnyflame? She told you not cross the scent markers and to keep your big mouth clamped shut!" Even though Willowfang was whispering in a soft, chiding voice, she still sounded loud to herself. All of this mentoring is growing on me... she thought with a sigh.

Tawnyflame turned back with a finaly look of warning as they pushed along, ears perked and mouth constantly tasting for anything out of the ordinary as she crept along marking Shadowclan along the trees.

Foxpaw clamped her mouth shut. She didn't want to be caught talking again---especially by Tawnyflame. Fox wanted to impress another warrior so bad, it was gnawing at her from the inside out. Sure, Willowfang was proud of her, but that still didn't change the fact that her parents were gone and she wasn't great at making friends. Flitting her eyes over to a tree, Fox rubbed her cheek against it as Tawny had done. Then she attempted to taste the air... but Foxpaw couldn't really taste anything.

Galedust slowed back to a comfortable walk once they had reached ShadowClan border. The RiverClan's tail flicked back and forth; hopefully, they wouldn't see any ShadowClan cats today. "Okay," he meowed to his apprentice, "T-this is ShadowClan."

Fogpaw followed behind his mentor to the Shadiwclan border. His nose wrinkled uo and he let out a cough at the scent. "That is worse than Windclan. Oh Starclan that stinks.", he meowed. The deaf tom let out a shudder at the thought of having to live in that.

Willow stifled a yawn; she was always feeling tired night after night. But for some odd reason, she could never fall asleep in her bed. She had shut her eyes tight on occasion, but swirling thoughts never dissipated. That's my problem, she thought, I worry too much. I never just sit and enjoy the present. Willowfang flicked her ears back- -stretching her radars to see if she could detect any Riverclan cats. But, as usual, Willow's worries weren't anything out of the normal.

Galedust let out a small laugh and a purr of amusement escaped him at Fogpaw's obvious disgust at the opposing clan's strong scent. "T-told ya so!" he meowed lightheartedly, tapping the young tom on the shoulder in a friendly gesture. "Though our f-f-fishy scent isn't that n-nice to th-them either."
