The tortie stared at the larger she-cat, her amber eyes narrowed. "Touché." For some reason she thought Clans as the honorable type, the type with strong morals who would show mercy to a cat down on their luck like she was. It seemed as though she was terribly wrong. Staying on her own may have been the better choice, but it was too late to leave now. Certainly the bigger cat would follow and hunt her down, and Toad was in no shape to even attempt an escape. There were very few options left, but Toad remained composed in the face of potential death.

Her razor-thin pupils followed the other cat as she circled around her, as though Toad was her prey. The tortie felt a strange relief hearing that she didn't smell like a kittypet. She was one once, many moons ago, and she sometimes feared the scent still lingered. It was rather heartening to hear that the stink of twolegs had finally faded; Toad smirked slightly, probably looking even more brainless than the stranger thought she was.

"I knew of a Clan nearby, but not much else," she meowed in response. As a loner, she had been been traveling for moons, not staying in any place for too long. Being pregnant forced the tortie to stay put for once, and she thought it would be wise to seek protection from other cats. Maybe that was a fur-brained idea.

Her expression changed suddenly at the mention of a mate. For a second, her eyes looked dark and distant as though the she-cat was recalling a bad memory. "No," she answered simply, her expression softening again. "Look. I just need shelter, somewhere I can have my kits without worrying about predators or twolegs or other cats. I'll even hunt for my own food. After that, your Clan can have my kits to raise as warriors, if you want." Toad was serious. Without the kits' father in the picture, motherhood was a horribly daunting thing to face alone. As heartless as it seemed, leaving them with a clan seemed like the best idea to her. She was a young and inexperienced drifter, surely the stability of clan life would be preferable to whatever Toad may face in the future.

With her wide amber eyes pleading, she looked right at the larger she-cat. If she couldn't find shelter in the clan, she hoped she could at least convince the other cat to let her leave alive and intact. But what could she say to someone so unafraid of killing her where she stood? If this cat didn't want kits, want more mouths for the clan to feed, there was nothing she would lose by killing the tortie. Toad lowered her head, her amber eyes still focused on the muscular she-cat. Her words didn't come out calmly and confidently as they did before, now her voice was breathless, scared. "Please."
(sorry this turned out way longer than i meant)
[You're fine, I never mind length]
It seemed to take a long minute for the queen to finally realize that walking into a clan's territory might not have been the smart idea. Her tone and scent changed pretty quickly. No mate, it didn't sound like she had any family to take care of her either, and weirdly enough it didn't sound like she even wanted her kits. Kits were rather important within clans, their future, so Dawnstar felt justified feeling a little spiteful at how easily so many cats threw their kits away.

"You make it sound like you don't want them. Do you care so little for them?" The queen was a bit of a walking contradiction, she wanted her kits to be somewhere safe but also made it sound like she'd be throwing all the responsibility of raising them on the clan. This wouldn't be a problem since it wasn't like ShadowClan wasn't used to providing for orphaned kits.

"What happens to you after you have the kits? You go off and play loner again?" That's what bothered her the most about this. This cat didn't seem to have a loyal bone in her body, nor comprehend that when it came to clanmates the clans were anything but selfish. They took care of their clanmates, even the useless ones when push came to shove. Not to mention, Dawnstar put cats through the ringer to get a chance to live in ShadowClan. If she just wanted to join and then depart... it felt insulting somehow.

The queen's willingness to dump her kits in a place she hadn't even bothered looking into was concerning. She was a younger mother, but even so, the lack of common sense was troubling. She could be taught and provided for in ShadowClan, but her commitment issues bothered Dawnstar. Clan's run-off loyalty, this cat didn't know what that word meant.

Willowpaw nodded, not sure what to say. She was but an apprentice, and it wasn't her place to talk to a clan leader. She glanced up at the large she-cat, her eyes pleading.

@Undertaker
So these idiots don't seem to comprehend the trouble they were getting into trespassing in her territory. Outsiders were one thing, but cats raised and born in the clan knew how disrespectful it was to walk into another clan's territory like this. ThunderClan must not teach their cats any manners, but it was ThunderClan.

"Well, that's not entertaining at all." The leader flexed her claws and fixed the pair of cats with a dull glare. "Did you honestly think 'I don't wanna be part of ThunderClan' would be enough to get you into another clan? That's not even a good reason for such disloyalty." Dawnstar could cut RiverClan minnows some slack, the clan of fish did suck. But ThunderClan didn't seem half as bad as RiverClan. Bumblebrat often booted cats for legitimate reasons, and Dawnstar wasn't nearly as interested in the brat's scraps.

If they weren't going to explain why they were in enough detail for Dawnstar to judge them their time was up. "Get out of my territory now and I'll let you leave alive. This is the last mercy I'm offering you."

Deernose sighed, knowing the leader had made up her mind. "I guess you won't be needed these than." She tossed a couple of shrew's they had caught off of clan territory to the ground, padding away. "Goodbye, Dawnstar. May StarClan light your path." She nodded respectfully, although a tad bit dissapointed. As a kit she had always dreamed about what living in ShadowClan was like. Maybe Riverclan would take them in.

Willowpaw's heart sank and she turned away, padding after Deernose. Deernose. It was her fault that they were ever exiled in the first place. "It's all your fault, Deernose." She hissed. "Getting us exiled from the only clan we've ever known."

"Toad" | 14 moons | Loner, mother-to-be

[purrks: Silver Tongue Tier 1]
Did she care that little for them? Toad paused for a second. Did she? She had no strong feelings towards them thus far. They were just some hypothetical that she didn't have to deal with until now. Did she want the safety of the clan for herself, because she'd be vulnerable while kitting, or did she actually want a future for these kits? The tortie honestly hadn't given them too much thought until her belly started interfering with her movement. The idea of being a mother honestly terrified Toad; she usually avoided thinking about too much, but it was getting harder to ignore.

A frustrated sigh escaped her lungs. "I don't know. I just know I can't do it on my own," she mewed weakly, her amber gaze falling to the ground. "I've never had to look after anyone other than myself. And clearly I'm not doing a good job at that since I'm wandering into dangerous territory in hopes of finding shelter."

Toad lifted her head to meet the larger she-cat's gaze. "I wasn't sure how open you were to outsiders," she meowed, sounding intrigued. "I'd join your clan, if you'd have me."

Thus far, Toad was certain she wasn't making a very good case for herself. She wandered into clan territory to beg for shelter to abandon her kits in. She assumed a clan would welcome some new future warriors, but apparently the whole abandoning thing didn't bode well. It just seemed like the best offer at the time! Still, she had this cat's attention so she'd keep trying to appeal to her.

"But. I've lived on my own for most of my life. I'd have a lot to learn," she explained. Cats like humility, right? Or would that make her sound too weak? Maybe she needed to talk herself up a bit, too. "I'm a very fast learner, though. I'm a pretty good hunter, too. And once I'm not so round and clumsy anymore, I'll carry my weight just fine, and the kits' weight."

The Queen of Mean flickered her tail tip and dragged her eyes back to the she-cats. She was purposely showing off her belly to a stranger, not wise. She hasn't learned that not all cats are swayed by morality. The scarred leader would and could rip the she-cat apart without a second thought. It'd be smarter to hide her heavy belly rather than place blind trust in strangers.

"You stepping into my territory without permission tells me otherwise." Dawnstar drawled with a crooked grin. "Who said I'm looking for sport or glory when hunting?" This cat was rather presumptuous, wasn't she?

"Do you even know where you are? Unless you're one of mine few would call this neck of the woods safe." The muscular dark tabby warned, slowly circling the molly. "You don't smell like a kittypet that doesn't explain the lack of brains." So this cat was just generally stupid. "No mate?"
Look at this weird outsider spitting! Dawnstar couldn't think of a retort for those words. It was very nice to have some purpose in this life. From birth and onwards, all true clan cats live for their clan. They train, hunt, fight, and die for them. There was always some meaning in your life to be found in a clan if one looked hard enough.

Dawnstar scowled silently seething in defeat. "You're infuriating, but you make a fair point. I'll give you your chance in ShadowClan. You'll only get one. You disappear or toss it away and don't expect getting back in here will be easy." She warned.

"You're old enough to have enough experience to be a warrior, so you'll take the name Frogslip. However, you'll have much to learn since you have no proper training or experience in the clan. So you'll be serving the clan as a warrior in training. You'll be treated and trained like an apprentice with a mentor, and have the same restrictions." Dawnstar explained to her.

"Once your mentor has approved that you've learned everything you need to know to be a fitting ShadowClan warrior, I'll allow you to move to the warriors' den and give you more freedom."

[Done. You can submit her to ShadowClan. You can find her a mentor yourself otherwise Dawnstar will choose one for her at the next clan meeting. She is not allowed to be outside of camp by herself, if she is found without a warrior accompanying her, there will be consequences.]
"Thunderrodents," The voice was disembodied for a brief moment before the speaker made their presence known. She slides out of the blanket of shadows with her golden orbs blazing like miniature suns, glare scorching hot.

"Whether you are a part of another clan, exiled, or left, it's all the same to me. You're not mine, not allowed to be here, and are trespassing. That is all I need to water my forest with your blood." Dawnstar's large head was lowered predatorial, muscles tense so tight they quivered beneath her scarred pelt eager to be put to use. The ruler of shadows looked so very ready to hunt.

"Your story better be super quick and entertaining lest I slit your throats." Dawnstar was looking forward to the slitting of throats, she recently sharpened her claws and they were begging for a test run. Lucky her running into two imbeciles.

Frog
female | she/her | loner | kitty softpaws tier 1

Frog’s heart leaped in her chest. “Thank you so much! I promise you won’t regret it.” Though butterflies fluttered in her tummy with gratitude for this cat, she was also smart enough to know she had bettered the tough clan cat in their wordy dispute, she had a way with motivational speaking like that. In her recent past, she would have never really had a chance to use that talent, but now maybe that would be different. “Okay. Where do I start?”
Wonderful! I’ll add it to my list to submit her to shadowclan. I can’t be bothered to post a finder so just pick her any old mentor in the next clan meeting like you said.

Dawnstar didn't have anything against cats abandoning their kits if they truly didn't want them for some reason or couldn't provide for them. But when cats were leaving their kits behind because they didn't even want to try and be a parent, that irked her. If you were bringing new life into the world at least put some damn effort into caring for it before giving up!

"You're weird,"Dawnstar meowed after hearing the queen out. She came all the way here to drop off her non-clanborn kits, and didn't think that the clans took in outsiders. "Or maybe you're just dumb I'm having a hard time deciding between the two." She was starting to see why the feline would fail at this parenting job.

She was somewhat amused by the conversation, however. This was more entertaining than the usual nonsense she heard. "I'll let you and your unborn join my clan. But you better carry your weight, I'd hate to kick you out for being lazy. You'll have a lot to learn, but so long as you put in the work you'll have help rearing your kits. We all take care of each other in a clan so you'll have to change your loner mentally of fending for yourself." If she couldn't work with the clan they were going to have some issues.

"You'll start in the nursery with the rest of the queens and kits reside, but once your kits are weaned you'll need to focus on training. I'll find you a mentor when that time comes, until then you can ask questions and learn while you are in the nursery. Name?"

"You'll start after the next clan meeting when I assign you a mentor. Meanwhile, you can roam around the camp meet your new clanmates, and learn what you can. You are not to leave camp once you enter unless told to or accompanied by a warrior." Dawnstar yawned, beckoning the cat to her side with a lazy wave of her tail, and began leading her toward the camp.

"Toad" | 14 moons | Loner, mother-to-be

[purrks: Silver Tongue Tier 1]
The tortie glowered at the larger she-cat through narrowed eyes. Sure, she was weird, maybe kind of stupid. Definitely irresponsible and impulsive, but she didn't appreciate others pointing it out! Still, the molly held her tongue. She knew it wasn't the time and place to argue.

It seemed as though a massive weight was lifted from her shoulders when the she-cat accepted her into the clan. She breathed a deep sigh of relief, her serious expression softening a bit. "Thank you," she meowed with a bow of her head. At least she had concepts of a plan for the future now, instead of constantly worrying about what was next. She'd be safer now, and her own safety was always her biggest concern.

Her ears twitched slightly as the larger she-cat asked for a name. Her name? The one her twolegs gave her long ago was Princess Toadstool, but she was never fond of it. Her kittypet past was far behind her now, it was time for a new start. "My name's Toad," she replied. It was a strange nickname, but one she rather liked. She thought the contrast between a pretty young cat and her unappealing namesake was pretty funny. It still had hints of her kittypet past, but more warrior-like. At least that's what she thought. These cats were always named after nature and stuff, right?

[ I was thinking of Spottedtoad as her warrior name for the future if that's okay! ]

Reason for Joining: seeking another clan after the devastation of their own
--

At long last, she found the border to the unknown Clan's territory. Her paws ached from the seemingly endless journey, and she let herself feel a twinge of relief.

It had been many. many moons since she's found another Clan. It was weather just like the one today that spelled the eventual downfall of her late Clan: a gradual demise that left only her by leaf-bare. It was still quite a sore spot for her, a wound that never -- and may never -- heal quite right.

Neither here nor there... It was time to focus now. Her gut was telling her that she was in danger and she needed to remain on high alert. If this Clan was anything like her old Clan, she needed to stay as vigilant as possible; else she might not make it to try her luck elsewhere.

Taking another step, her stomach sank the closer she got. Her dusty grey fur fluffed out, hackles slightly raised in anticipation. Bonedancer took a deep breath, inhaling the heavy scent of pine mixed with mud, and crossed the semi-fresh border marking. Hopefully, it wouldn't be too long before she came across a Clan cat...

Name: Rat
Age: 3
Gender: Female
Rank Request: Kit
New Name: Mousekit
Reason for Joining: Was left to die, can't survive on her own.

(I have a plot for this kitten in the future)

Near the Shadowclan border, a soft tiny kitten about the age of 3 moons was crouched down on the soft grass. Her fur was brown from her whole body but she hand tiny black spots all over her body as well....but...she didn't have eyes...and where her eyes should have been was blood. The tiny she-cat let out a soft whimper, she couldn't see and she was quit hungry. She was left to die due to causing her brother's death. But did it matter? She was the runt, she wasn't meant to survive anyway. "Help." she meowed softly.

Name: Shark
Age: 50 moons
Gender: Cis male [he/him]
Rank Request: Warrior -- can be app if needed
New Name: Sharkfang / Floodchaser / Rumblewave
Reason for Joining: His family had gone missing, but Palehound had mentioned the clans to him before. So, he's here seeking a spot within the clans in hopes to run across her or find answers as to what happened to her. Also, this might be Nightshivers future husband don't tell her.

--

There wasn't much that got him worried or anxiety-ridden, but walking up to the border of the 'clans' he was told about time and time again made him think. Palehound must've come back to the clans right? He couldn't remember which one she used to belong to, but getting into one of them was better than none of them when it came to searching for answers. Their kittens had grown up, went missing, or went on their own adventures, so it was time for him to find his mate -- or simply a place to settle down. He was middle aged now, reaching those older moons and knew as more time would pass, he wouldn't hold up next to the shore. It was brutal out there, but he had always made it work. Surely, this knowledge was good enough to get him in, if he even needed it.

There must be a marker here, because the scent was strong. It was musky, hidden in the marshy grounds of the territory around him. He'd have to be careful; this wasn't the same as the sands he was used to treading on. He sat down, masking the anxiety as he waited for someone to approach him. He wouldn't go wandering, he was smarter than that.
