"H.. Hello, Kestrelsplash" Fernstream meowed shyly, her eyes full of warmth. She shuffled her paws on the ground in embarrassment. "Do you want to... eat with me?" she whispered.

Kestrelsplash looked at the mouse and smiled. "Sure. It looks great!"

He leaned over to take the first bite, then chewed slowly. He likied sitting with Fernstream, but he knew this prey wouldn't last forever, like he wished it would. They'd finish the prey, then go their separate ways, most likely. He gave her a glance.

As he finished chewing he muttered to her, "Do you have any patrols you'll be going on today? Any hunting you'll be doing? I'd love to come with you, if I can, that is." He just wanted to be around her.

"Hunting sounds pretty..-" He felt dread wash over him. He meant to call her pretty, not the hunting! "I-I mean you're pretty! Not us going hunting! And hunting sounds great! I meant to say that, too.."

Of all the things he could've said, he put two sentences together in the worst way! He sighed, "I ruined the moment, didn't I?"

Relief was almost overwhelming as he gave a small smile and nodded, taking another bite from the mouse. He was grateful it didn't mess anything up, well, for Fernstream it didn't. He still felt like he ruined it somehow, but as long as he didn't discourage her was all he cared about right now.
