Snakepaw padded around the queen to get a good look at the wounds and choked back a gag when he did. Oh stars was that... Maggots?! How did they even get in there?! The whole wound would have to be vigorously cleaned and the maggots plucked out before he could even begin with the herbs! And even then there was no guarantee the infection wouldnt leave a horrible scar or cripple the leg much less if this effected the kits in the long term. Snakepaw knew Coldamber wouldnt let a queen get to this state so he had to wonder how long this queen had been wandering the forest after fleeing her clan.

"Right before anything else Im giving you poppyseeds to numb the pain and let you sleep for this you must be in agony and Im not keen to make that worse while I fix this. Lotusheart...." She'd been reasonable in here if not in the leaders den and was genuinely apologetic... The warrior would get a second chance here if she failed the tom would know for sure "you can stay and help if you wish and have a strong stomach. I could use a second pair of paws to help clean the wound out."

Lotusheart looked over at the horrific wound. It really did not look good. She wasn't sure how to clean it out, but she'd listen to Snakepaw's instructions. The only thing she was good at.
"Ok, how do I help?" she mewed.

Redkit stared at Snakepaw for a moment, then glanced over at his cut. He shrugged and padded into the den. Smiling he sat down. If only he could explain how he got his wound to Snakepaw, and the little kit sighed.

The tom reassured completely guessing (and wrongly) the reason the queen was no longer with her clan due to his own hatred for shadowclan. Now for the poppyseeds. The molly would probably be unconscious for most of him fixing her up but once she woke again and felt better they could talk more about what might be the best options for her kits and upcoming birth. For good measure though he slipped a burnet leaf to improve the queens strength among the seeds though as he passed them to Brightwish.

(Aw poor brightwish thats horrible hope shell be ok after....)

Brightwish went into a numbing sleep soon as the poppy seeds kicked in. She dreamt of her family, of Snowkit screaming at her to leave, or Cloudfoot leaving the clan to be a kittypet again. Then she thought of her kits. They probably stayed in Windclan. They'd be about 6 moons now, were they apprentices? Were they still orphans or did a queen take them in? She let out a whimper, not from pain, but from her dream. Snakepaw probably thought it was pain though, so she struggled to wakefulness for a moment to tell him: "I'm ok, its a just a dream...", before passing out again.

Snakepaw bit down a look of pity for the poor queen as she collapsed into sleep but quickly rallied and prepared to start working.
"Gently use your claws to start plucking the maggots out and put them in that leaf, Ill discard them later. Once you clear an area I can clean it with some moss and water both of us working to get rid of these disgusting bugs I can move on to the burdock root and actually getting this sorted out. Oh and if youre going to have a weak stomach and puke please leave the den to do it..... Stars let's get this started."

Explanation finished Snakepaw started grabbing the disgusting little bigs between his claws and taking them off the poor queens flank wound and placing it on the leaf wrinkling his nose the entire time. The medicine cat had seen plenty of horrific wounds but this one seriously pushed what he was used to. Still at least with his small patch cleared and Lotusheart probably working on getting the rest he could start using the moss to clean the infected wound.

The medicine cat asked levelling the kit with a look while he simultaneously cocked his head in confusion.

Ah well whatever he couldnt just wait around for the baby to stop being scared or whatever was keeping him quiet the cut wasnt going away on its own. Snakepaw grabbed and chewed up a piece of marigold and applied it over the wound before grabbing a bundle of cobwebs and covering the cut. That should keep it from getting infected plus keep it clean and covered until it healed. Now to figure out why the kit was so quiet.

Lotusheart nodded. She tried to gently pluck the maggots. It wasn't too bad, just kinda gross. She had a bit of a struggle since her paws were too big for the delicate work, but eventually she managed. Lotusheart's mountainous size did not make her suited for medicine.

In her sleep, Brightwish muttered about Snowkit, then groaned and winced at the memories of his claws raking her, and how her other 4 kits joined in too, That was the worst day of her life, even worse than Blossoms death. The poppyseed painkiller had started to wear off a litte & she could feel claws touching her wound, but she sighed. This was nothing compared to the pain in her heart she'd had since Blossoms death, and since her kits attack.

Redkit stared at Snakepaw for a moment, then flicking his tail, pointing at his mouth. Then she shook his head. The kit hoped the Medicine cat understood.

Streampelt stumbled into the medicine den, looking slowly and painfully around for Snakepaw. He attempted to pad farther in but he stumbled again and fell. His body was too full of pain to stand up so he just lay there, hoping Snakepaw had heard him come in. Streampelt suddenly felt tired too, but he kept his eyes open, not wanting to die just yet.

"Right thats off and Ive cleaned as much muck and filth as I can with the moss Im going to move on to the burdock which should help the pain and numb the leg. Im worried about her temperature though. I can treat fever causing sicknesses like greencough but I dont think it'd help this... Lotusheart go grab some wet moss and groom the water through her fur maybe that'll bring the temperature down."

In the meantime it was time to murder his mouth with the burdock. After he applied this herb he would be lisping like mad from the numbness he was certain. Ah well it was really effective, he reflected as he crunched into the root chewing it into a smooth salve. Spitting it into the wound Snakepaw kept chewing and applying it until the entire thing was covered and proceeded to rub it in. The wound was infected enough already to risk letting any bit be untouched by the powerful burdock. Now for a protective layer of cobweb to shelter the wound and keep the herb on, Snakepaw might've been a bit heavy pawed with it applying more then necessary but this was a bad wound so it wasnt a bad thing.
At least the main work was done now though....
