Beachpaw nodded numbly and descended into a slow shuffle toward camp while doing what they could to support Wolfhive’s balance.

The downer information weighed on Beachpaw like a heavy fog settling in, uncomfortable anxiety chills climbing their bones. Guess they would just… go back then, and that’d be that, and Wolfhive would have to figure out his own recovery somehow.

The total lack of control made them uneasy. And they didn’t know how to dispel that.

Beachpaw just wanted to yell and scream, and lash out. Preferably, at someone. It was the only thing they could think of, and even that wouldn’t fix the situation.

Sooo her patrolmates hadn't arrived and after quite a long time of waiting, Nightgaze had hesitantly gone out on her own, hoping that they might just be running a bit late and join her soon. The trip to Sunkissed creek went relatively quickly due to the swift pace she often kept and she soon found herself looking around for the herb she was supposed to gather.

Burdock, burdock, burdock.. a tall-stemed thistle with dark leaves and black roots...ah, there it is! After a few minutes of searching, Nightgaze came across the plant and was quick to quickly pluck as much as she could, wincing as it's bitter juices seeped into her mouth. Yep, this should be enough!

Sparrowpelt came barreling through the undergrowth, huffing as he came up to Nightgaze with a mouthful of herbs already. "So sorry, kits are a pawful!" he huffed, catching his breath as he padded up to the next patch of Burdock. Giving the plant a sniff, he crinkled his nose and let out a sigh. "We're gonna be tastin' this fer weeks!" He complained light-heartedly as he leaned over and snipped the roots. The bitter taste nearly made him gag, but he held the bundle in his jaws and turned to look at Nightgaze. "Right, then," he nodded, glancing around for Silverleopard. "Did da other come?" he spoke muffled around the plants.

´´I´m here! So sorry!´´ Silverleopard bounded over to the two. She padded over to the burdock plant and grasped a few stems in her jaws, careful not to damage them.

And her intuition seemsd to be right! Nightgaze was thrilled as she saw her two patrolmates join her. Sometimes ya just gotta be optimistic and things will turn out alright. Forcing through the sharp taste on her tongue, she offered them a light smile or what could be confused as a grimace in the wrong context. Bleh! This sure was gross! "It's no problem!" she reassured, spluttering a bit.

"I'm gonna puke if I hold these any longer! Let's be quick and return these!" the small hornet half joked after surveying each bundle Sparrowpelt and Silverleopard had gathered. With an urgency to deliver and wash out the horrible taste taking over her mouth, Nightgaze was quick to start speed walking back to camp, allowing her patrolmates to overtake her if they could.

Cypresspaw let out another racking cough that made his throat burn even more that before. His nose ran freely, not even bothering to crust anymore. His eyes were dull but glazed over with a cold fear, remembering the ordeal when Willowkit died and how quickly the sickness took over him. He couldn’t die! Not now! He had to keep fighting.
