Riftpaw felt his ears grow hot at Rainpaw blinked so innocently at him. He hated seeing her in turmoil…wait. That didn’t make much sense to him. He didn’t like the way she normally made him feel and yet he felt…pity? No…sympathy? He wasn’t sure that was the right word either, but he knew he didn’t like seeing her like this.
”What? Of course nothing is wrong with you- you’re perfect.” Despite the bluntness of what he said, the young tom didn’t even seem to realize how that would come across. He shrugged at her reasoning. ”I dunno. Maybe she thought you needed a better mentor. Brokenstream says Stormstar doesn’t do things without a reason. Maybe she saw potential and gave you to someone she thought could teach you better?” Ah, yes. Words of wisdom. He briefly glanced back at a rather irritated Ravenpaw, shooting her a look that seemed to say ’Like this?’.
Brokenstream nodded approvingly in response to both Ravenpaw and Rainpaw. "Swimming is just the best, isn't it? Not long ago, I used to be scared to swim, truthfully." He admitted with an awkward shrug, casting a glance at Floodsight. "Wouldn't you say, Floodsight?" He mewed to the silver-furred she-cat, green eyes sparkling with laughter. "She saved me, wouldn't you know it?" The tom said quietly with a nudge to Ravenpaw and Rainpaw respectively before turning his attention back to Stormstar. Ah! New apprentices! What a wonderful time for the Clan. "It feels like just yesterday you and I were up there becoming apprentices." He murmured fondly to his fellow warrior. "Look at us now."

Riftpaw sniffed at the twins response, a twinge of...huh? He wasn't really sure, but it wasn't a good feeling in his chest when he learned Rainpaw went swimming without him. "Hmph." He huffed, but at her pleading gaze, he felt himself awkwardly soften. "S'okay." The young tom mumbled, scuffing his paws on the ground.
If aspenpaw hadn't looked up when he did he might have missed the look stormstar had sent him. It was enough to convince him to shut his trap and sit silently. whether the reason for the glare was because he was talking to much or maybe she heard his tone, it really didn't matter all he knew was that he rather not be on the leaders bad side. Sitting quietly it is! From Seabreeze's silence it didn't seem like the warrior was going to answer his questions anyway.
Aspenpaw zoned in and out of the meeting only paying a bit of his attention when the kits- or more so his soon to be new denmates stepped forward to receive their rank. Fawnkit and duskkit, he didn't know either personally but he cheered their names loudly anyway. Becoming an apprentice was one of the best moments in his life and he was sure it would be for them too, maybe he'd teach them a thing or two from what he already learnt. You know, be a friendly den mate an all.
After duskpaw and fawnpaw greeted their new mentors, stormstar continued the meeting moving on to reassignments. Aspenpaw rolled his eyes, seriously this again? It felt like every meeting some poor apprentice was getting a new mentor because their former ones had been very neglectful and undeserving of the rank warrior. Aspenpaw was just about to zone out in a spiral of other thoughts when her a specific name announced. Salamanderpaw. Again? But hadn't she just gotten a new mentor last meeting??? Seapaw too? Infact there was a pawful of his den mates getting new mentors. Without really thinking about it, his eyes sought out Mander and seashell. If their mentors weren't going to actually do their jobs then he would just drag them along with him, he knew a decent amount of stuff to teach them and he was sure Floodsight wouldn't mind-
Floodsight.
For a moment he felt angry again, still offended. Still feeling petty but then shame and guilt started to overlap the previous emotions. He had a great mentor, who was responsible and caring. She trained him well, taught him so much, she was patient and never once neglected or forgot about his training. He'll and what had he done in return? Throw tantrums and act like a bratty kit! He'd been so.... ungrateful
It was time to suck up his pride an apologise.
Risin' to his paws, he bumped seabreeze with his shoulder, "don't think I'm done, I'll be back later" he informed the tom. Bet he was also a bad mentor. With not even a goodbye, he was off making his way through the crowd of seated cats in search for his mentor. When he finally found her it seemed he had been the second to approach the warrior. Usually he would just turn tail and find something or someone else to bother and leave her interact with her friend? But today was different. He had to apologise, something he'd rarely done before.
"Floodsight" he called, not raising his voice to much. There was a meeting going on after all. Once he was close enough to the warrior he headbutt her shoulder and sat down. "I'm sorry, you were right. I shouldn't have lied and I shouldn't have thrown a tantrum after or have been upset about it for as long as I did. You've been patient with me even though I've been.... difficult. I'd like you to know that I'm glad your my mentor and that I'm sorry!" aspenpaw had never really meant his apologize before but this was the first time he did, had he done it correctly? Was Floodsight still mad at him?? He hoped she wasn't, he'd avoided even looking at her his entire apology and had instead focused on staring at his paws. Thought the whole of it he had tried to keep his voice down, couldn't let others overhear him apologising for acting like a kit. "please forgive" he added quieter. He'd just realised that there seemed to be a warrior ceremony happening, maybe he hadn't chosen the best moments to make amends with his mentor. Aspenpaw looked up only to see it was Primrose paws warrior ceremony. Shoot! Well atleast he hadn't been talking loudly! Maybe his quiet charter had been disruptive though. Aspenpaw stared apologetically at prim however he was unsure if she would see him anyway.
Floodsight ✦ RiverClan | 23 moons | Mind Reader ; Beefed Up T3 ; empty slot
"Haha, of course. Never have been a big fan of drowning myself." She greeted him with a small purr, and gave both Rainpaw and Ravenpaw a warm smile. Floodsight's soft voice echoed back with a light hearted tone, joking under subtle exhausted look. Though it wasn't much different than the normal her anyways.
"Yet, we somehow did. A couple of times trying to get swimming right." She'd continued, giving her friend a small playful nudge. The long days of training certainly paid off and her friend could be consider one of the best swimmers in RiverClan if Floodsight do say so herself. She'd learned a lot during her apprentice days, tossing ideas back and forth, practicing till dusk and feeling of getting things right the first time was undeniably one of the best feelings. "Indeed, look at us now. It felt so long ago, yet at the same time. It feels like it was just yesterday."
As tired as she was, seeing the ever so happy Brokenstream certainly lit up her day. And Rainpaw, Ravenpaw...She hadn't seen them in a while. Ever since coming back to to the rightful RiverClan territory, they must've been quite busy with catching up on their missed training. "Hope you two have been well. Learning lots, no?"
"Sorry about all the reassignments. Sedgeflake is a seasoned warrior, he should be able to teach you lots." Floodsight gave Rainpaw a small nudge encouragingly. "If not, Brokenstream and I are always here to help."
Floodsight smiled with a sideway glance at Brokenstream. 'Dragging you into more work~'
Before she had any chance to say more, a familiar voice had peeped up from the crowd. Without looking, she already knew it was her apprentice, Aspenpaw. She hadn't seen him since the last time; a failure of a training session, but it was also a learning experience for her. With the back and forth between several cats and picking up on other apprentice's training she'd realized something major. Criticism. Aspenpaw didn't work quite well with that, and she'll have to play around it in another way. But one step at a time, she'll get this right.
Floodsight gentle frame gazed upon the little one, who came to her to apologize? Apologize? Had the little one had consumed something bad? Aspenpaw and apologies never meshed and she'd never expected it to. With wide blue eyes, she'd listened to what the little one had to say. It sounded like the current reassignments had gotten him shaken up a little.
She was glad he figured himself out and glad he knew what went wrong. Whether he's able to fix it will come later. But a small spark of hope lit inside Floodsight. I think it'll be alright.
Instead of lingering on the trembling apology by Aspenpaw, Floodsight pushed the past away and decided to focus on the present. She placed her paw on his shoulders softly. "Seems like you've grown up since the last time I saw you. Battle training, tomorrow?"
[ sorry for the late reply. this one was a long one :') ]
Owltalon sat near the Skyridge, her head high as she took note of Stormstar's injuries. She smiled at the sight of them. No doubt they hurt, but they were impressive, something worth showing off. But, if Stormstar didn't make it to the medicine den to treat them, she'd drag the leader by her ears towards the herbalists.
The deputy hadn't really made an effort to interact with anyone, perhaps an error on her part, but she wasn't in haste to talk, especially since Stormstar alluded to multiple announcements. Yeah, she could be patient. No doubt.
As perked ears twitched at each word that graced her canals, she found herself pleasantly surprised that she'd been given an appreciate, Fawnpaw. She'd never heard of the youngster before tonight, but she was plenty excited. Ooooo, another cat to teach all her wits to! Plus, it was a child, and Owltalon was fond of children.
Glossy eyes scanned the clearing before she stood to her paws. Welp, she supposed now was a good time if any to find---
Oh!
They found her first. Owltalon looked down at the smaller cat, a toothy grin playing on her mangled maw. "Ah, so yer Fawnpaw? Nice ta meet ya, chap." She leaned her head to touch noses with her apprentice. Fawnpaw certainly wouldn't be her first, she'd had many before her, but that didn't stop her from being excited.

Being on the ground, closer to the cats, it was easier to hear and see her Clanmates. And just like last meeting, the same trio of cats were whispering back and forth to each other like chittering birds - and during a warrior ceremony no less. Stormstar let her blue gaze shift to Rainpaw, Ravenpaw, and Riftpaw, their blue depths narrowed into a sharp warning glance. She didn't dare speak to break the ceremony she was doing, but she made a note to call them and their mentors into her den later.
"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Primrosepaw, from this moment on, per your request, you'll be known as Primroseadder. StarClan honors your agility 'n independence, 'n we welcome you as a full warrior of RiverClan." Reaching her maw forward Stormstar let it rest on the former 'paws head briefly, a beat or two, before backing away and leading the chant; "Primroseadder! Primroseadder! Primroseadder!" Her tail was raised high in the air as if to signal to the rest of the Clan to follow.
Her first warrior as the Clan's leader... it felt nice. It felt right.
Returning to her place on the Skyridge (not without some minor limping and a sharp hiss of pain as she reached the top), the gray-furred leader waited for the chanting to die down before continuing. "Movin' along, we've got a new face in RiverClan; a young kit who's joined us. I expect all the queens to lend a paw with watchin' 'em - her name is Applekit." She couldn't spot her in the crowd, but she was sure that Goldfish had taken the kit to get introduced into the nursery already.
A beat or two later, the leader moved onto the next topic before getting into the stuff that might start a bit of an uproar or two. "We've also got a warrior who came to me to request a change in her name. Otternose, step forward." She used her tail to call the she-cat forward, letting her blue gaze rest on her face. "Spirits of StarClan, you know every cat by name," she began, glancing up towards the sky. She had never done one of these, or actually seen one done before. The words she recalled being told to her in a story, but she wasn't entirely sure if they were accurate or not. Hopefully they were, and she wouldn't have any angry spirits in her dreams.
"I ask you now to take away the name from the cat you see before you, for it no longer stands for who they are. By my authority as RiverClan's leader, 'n with your approval, I give this cat a new name. From this moment on," the leader lowered her gaze now back to Otternose, "they will be known as Ferretnose." A soft, almost understanding smile tugged at the corners of their maw. "May this help separate you from Ottersplash." She knew how important it could be to want that distance, that separation from a sibling.
"Ferretnose! Ferretnose! Ferretnose!" Stormstar allowed her chants to fill the air, allowing the Clan below to join in as well. She would enjoy this moment, this last sliver of unity, before her next announcements.
Otternose padded forwards as her name was called. She sat down in the middle, looking up at Stormstar. When her new name was called, she smiled and looked up at Stormstar. She listened as her name was chanted. "Thank you Stormstar" she mewed. Otternose, no Ferretnose was glad that she was able to separate herself from Ottersplash.

As Stormstar´s muzzle rested against her head, Primroseadder gave her leader a respectful lick on her good shoulder before pulling back, her emerald eyes glittering. ´´Thank you, Stormstar.´´
The newly named warrior turned to look at Adderstrike, her former mentor, as well as the cat that Primroseadder was named after. She gently butted the brown-and-cream tabby on the shoulder with her head in a playful yet respectful manner.
RabbitFur sits near the nursery looking up at her leader she sees her mate, Waveclaw, in the crowd in front of her. she sighs at the sight of him looking desperate to hear the news of the cats in the clan. She knows that Stormstar will give Waveclaw an aprentice when stormstar thinks Waveclaw is ready. And rabbitfur supports this with all of her might. the kits in her belly give a kick
She stuck her tongue out upon her mother’s offer of sleeping. That was so boooorrrinnnnggggg. Well—that was unless she could drag new cats in her dreams! Perhaps meet strangers from other clans…but how would she? She simply willed her mother in cause she knew the cat, with a stranger would she possibly home? Perhaps think of a cats name that she heard? She’d have to test that all out. “I wanted t’ see what was happening!” she purred, looking up at her mom with wide, excited eyes as she rubbed up against the queens legs. “Mama, am I special?” she questioned, finally taking a seat in front of her mother and leaning her head back to see the she’s face. She tried her best not to fall backwards…who knew.
