Fadingsun had been on one of his daily patrols out to the outskirts border when he came across a sickly looking pair of kits and a somewhat-familiar face. It took him a few moments to place the name, but it eventually clicked in his brain. Dapplewing.
He didn't have to ask the tom for an explanation for his absence, as he often had to do with cats trying to return to RiverClan. Leaving RiverClan was something that a good number of cats chose to do, for one reason or another. While it wasn't Fadingsun's preferred way of dealing with things, he understood why cats chose to do it.
Blue eyes shifted down to the two kits that Dapplewing had with him. They looked like they certainly needed a home; if they stayed out here any longer, they might very well die. Dapplewing called his decision to return selfish, but in Fadingsun's view it seemed rather selfless. If he was returning primarily for these kits, that was an admirable thing.
"I can admire the decision to put the well-being of these kits before your own," he said. "RiverClan has been in shambles for seasons now, so I don't blame a cat for wanting out of it. There's nothing wrong with needing to experience life beyond RiverClan's borders, as long as that time isn't spent with any of the other Clans."
He nodded down towards the kits. "What are your names?" His tone was a bit gruff, causing regret to immediately flash through him. Trying to rectify the situation, he quickly added, "I'm not going to hurt you." That was probably obvious, but they were children.
Hunting hadn't been something that Fadingsun had done much of lately, so it was nice to get out and do some. He didn't bother taking anyone with him; he still preferred being out in the territory by himself. It gave him space to think, to just be in a calm place where nobody could get at him about anything.
The world seemed to have other plans for him this evening, however. Only a short while into his hunt, he caught sight of Skyfall staring beyond RiverClan's territory, out into the outskirts. He seemed to be staring at something in particular, which piqued Fadingsun's interest.
Upon approaching, he saw that the warrior was looking at a loner, who hadn't seemed to notice either of them yet. Glancing from Skyfall to the loner and back again, he wondered if they knew each other. If they did, Skyfall certainly wasn't making it obvious.
Deciding to just find out himself, he called out to the outsider. "Hello! Can we help you?"
Ele couldn't help but flinch when she heard a voice behind her. Turning around speedily, she finally noticed Skyfall and Fadingsun. "...Oh, right. Uhhh... M-My owner just died and literally no other cats would take me out of sheer paranoia... C-Can I join Riverclan? I-I promise I'll do whatever it takes to prove myself." She had a jittery, yet very soft and warm voice. Her tail had curled around her legs slightly as she spoke.

Once again reminded of the fact that this cat had already met some cats of RiverClan it seemed what with the mention of Birdsnow, Dusklion watched as the sprig of wisteria fell to the ground before her. "Uh... I much prefer stones, but thanks I guess?" Not used to receiving gifts the dark tabby pawed the... admittedly pretty plant towards her, looking up from it towards Melody. She reminded her of someone she hadn't thought about in some time, and within her chest Dusk's heart tightened.
An amused snort left the head Lionheart's maw as the former kitty-pet seemed to take what she had said too literally. "'S long as you contribute your share, 'n defend the Clan with your life, you'll be able to eat." Stars, she was just like- "But yeah, you'll need trainin' for sure. Fightin' first probably, incase we get thrust into another battle." Another small droplet of guilt fell into her paws as Dusklion recalled her unknown role in the escalating tensions between her home and WindClan.
"...You've got spunk, I'll give you that. But this isn't gonna be easy, Melody. There's a real chance you could die joinin' us, 'n life isn't gonna be easy... but if you dedicate yourself, you'll have the entirety of the Clan with you each time you set paw out in our territory." At that Dusklion felt her chest swirl with pride. Being the one to introduce this Clan, her home, to an outsider... it felt surreal. Jerking her head back in the direction of camp, the small dark tabby started to head back after picking up the wisteria spring and sticking it somewhere in her fluffy fur so it wouldn't fall out. "Come with me. Birdsnow isn't in charge anymore, so you'll have to talk to my brother if you want to join. His names' Fadingsun."
As they started to walk back with hopefully Melody in tow, another thought dawned on her. Looking towards the she-cat, Dusklion smirked. "You also gotta take on a Clan name - don't know what a 'Melody' is, but you'll need a new one - a warrior name." She mulled it over in her mind, then blinked. "...How 'bout Wisteriawren? Wisteria like the tree, 'n wren like the bird... because you're 'chirpy'."

Using his body to keep his sister steady, the ginger tom watched the new cat carefully. He hadn’t re-raised his fur, in case it spooked Pumpkinkit, but this time he tried to follow what the two big cats were talking about. Riberclam, shambles, experience- what? These words make no sense. Riberclam.. What is that? Clams? Like the shell momma showed him? But before he could dwell on it any longer the new cat turned his attention to the twins, causing Silverkit to instinctively lift a paw to step back. He managed to catch himself before he did, his sis was balancing on his side, so if he moved too much she might fall again. He stood his ground.
Silverkits careful watch quickly turned to more of a glare, as his gaze narrowed. ‘I’m not going to hurt you’, as if you even could. Both kits were super duper strong, need be they could probably defeat the big cat in 0.0005 of a second with only one paw. This cat didn’t deserve to know their names, no matter how unfitting ‘silver’ was (fur brained drample-whim). “..pumpkinkit and silverkit.” his sisters meow was quiet, and sounded a bit sleepy. Alarmed, her brother ducked his head to ‘whisper’ into her ear, “what are you doing?? Stranger danger, remember? We shouldn’t tell strangers our names.” although thats not why he was so reluctant to say his own, it was a lesson his momma taught them that he just remembered.
Pumpkinkit didn’t reply, but instead gave him a look. She didn’t want to tell either, but they had to. She needed food, badly, and both of them were still too small to be able to hunt. Backed into a corner again. Silverkit hated this. He hated it bad. He didn’t want to have to rely on cats other than momma, Pumpkinkit, and himself. It felt bad. Reluctantly, Silverkit raised his head to face the big cat, glare still as sharp as his claws. “Silverkit and Pumpkinkit.” he repeated firmly, as if to say the two had agreed upon this decision. This better mean he can get Pumpkinkit food soon.

Tufted ears flicked and swiveled cheerfully as Melody listened to Dusklion speak. Aha, stones! She could collect those! She could collect soooo many of those! Eyes brightening with a newfound plan in the works, Melody canted her head to the side as she thought about aaaaall the stones she was going to gift Dusklio-
Oh, wait. She was supposed to be listening. Snapping back to attention, she caught the tail end of Dusklion's third statement. Fighting first? Another battle? What did that mean? Melody had only recently learned fighting was a thing - she had seen two cats from afar and another alley cat had pointed out what it was called and told her to stay away when she'd shown too much curiosity. Either way, everything had been moving too fast and Melody only had a vague idea of what fighting entailed. Hurting someone else with your own paws. She didn't much like that... but she supposed... if this Clan needed it to get by in life, it couldn't be that bad?
"What is spunk-" She began, and then cut off when Dusklion kept going, because duh, Melody didn't want to not hear what her companion was saying. DIE??!?! She was gonna die?! Oh, wait, there was a chance. Phew. Wait-
"Miss Birdsn-" But Dusklion was already leaving, leaving Melody to gape after her. Scrambling to her paws, the ex-outsider..? Ex-outsider! She was a Clan cat now! Or... almost, but still! Aha! Oh wait, Birdsnow. "What happened to Miss Bir- A Clan name?!?!" The classic tabby instantly perked up with delight, eyes shining. She needed to stop getting sidetracked so much, but that was a task for a later time.
A warrior name? What was a warrior? "Oh! A Melody is a... uh...!" Melody trailed off awkwardly. What was a Melody? How had she never questioned her own name. Oh wait, of course she knew the answer to that. "It's me, duh!" Oh, it wasn't her anymore.
"Wisteriawren!" The pretty molly exclaimed instantly, echoing Dusklion's words ... except much, much louder. It seemed the name had been approved, apparently. The rest of that walk was spent with the newly named Wisteriawren prancing after her first proper Clan acquaintance (and duh, her new bestest friend ever).
“Trust me, I never spent even a moment considering joining any of the other clans.” Dapplewing had left Riverclan, yes, but it was where he had grown up. It was where his mother was born, and although she wasn’t here anymore, he owed it to her to be loyal to this clan.
With a sigh, the speckled tom looked down to the kits again as Fadingsun had done the same. Frightened little things, but he admired their bond with each other. He always appreciated familial bonds, just as long as they were healthy, of course… And these two were like two peas in a pod. Obviously. Because they’re littermates, Dapplewing.
The two youngins firmly replied with their name after a bit of debating amongst them, which, again, he couldn’t blame them for it. New place, new people, not a lot of trust between them. He hoped that he could help them with building that trust, though. He offered the two kits a smile, as if to say, you’ll be okay, I promise, before he looked to Fadingsun again. Dapplewing did not speak another word, though, as he simply watched the tom, waiting for a conclusion.
Pumpkinkit and Silverkit. Dapplewing must have remained attached to the Clan way, if he had taken the care to give these two Clan names. Pumpkinkit seemed to be the more trusting of the two; whether that was a good thing or a bad thing, Fadingsun was undecided.
"Very well," he said after a moment. "The three of you have a place in RiverClan. Dapplewing, I think it would be best for you to stay in the nursery with them for now, at least until they've become acquainted with Clan life."
Turning in the direction of camp, he nodded back at them. "Come. Let's go home."
( I'll get Dapplewing re-added! Apollo, go ahead and submit Pumpkin and Silver! )
How did this recently-orphaned (was that the right word?) cat know about RiverClan? Fadingsun's eyes narrowed, and he glanced briefly at Skyfall before returning his eyes to this outsider. "Who told you about RiverClan?"

"S-Someone called F-Frost... I think that was just it... could be that or he had 'paw' at the end..." Ele replied softly. Her tail swished as she tried to remain small and harmless. Skyfall spoke up.
"Fadingsun, I recognize her. This loner... she's the same one I escorted out of the territory without a fight." He tried not to seem very big and scary, so he didn't frighten the loner further.

Fadingsun glanced at Skyfall at his words, then back at the outsider. If she had come back after being chased off, then she must be sincere in her interest in the Clan. Everything had worked out well so far with Wisteriawren, so perhaps it wouldn't hurt to extend an olive branch to this cat. He figured this "Frost" she referred to was the same cat Larkstar had turned away from RiverClan long ago.
"Clan life isn't easy," he said. "Our relations with the other Clans right now are poor; we're on the brink of war with one of them. Outsiders much harsher than yourself threaten us from time to time, we face predators who want our prey, and on top of that disease and disaster are always threats. It's a much nicer life than living alone in the outskirts, but don't mistake it for easy. If you join us, I'll expect you to remain loyal and dedicated. You'll need to take on a Clan name and train to learn our ways."

"I can do that. My dad used to say I had his resilience, I'll take any challenge. A-and for the clan name part, I think my fur pattern slightly looks like clouds on the moon so perhaps Moon could be in it somewhere." Ele replied gently. Her ears flicked gently as she tried to sit up and almost bonked her head on a low branch, but then quietly moved away from the branch and sat up.
Skyfall observed with a slight look of worry in his face.
"I-If its alright, I'd like to train her. I think she'd be the most used to me talking to her." He meowed gently. His tail swayed.

Fadingsun nodded. "Very well. If you think you're up for the challenge, I'll allow you to join RiverClan."
Glancing at Skyfall at his offer, he considered it quietly for a moment. Skyfall had been quite present around the Clan, so he didn't see it as too much of a problem to allow him to train their newest member. "Alright, I'll allow it. Make sure you don't slack off, however."
Turning back to the outsider, he said, "You'll be called Moonpaw until you finish your training. Skyfall here will be your mentor. Come along, we'll head back to camp now."
[ Done! Moonpaw has been accepted; go ahead and submit her to the allegiances! ]
