Caveclaw thought for a moment "Mice have a sort of... sweet smell." They explained the best they could "They're one of the easier things to catch on land. Voles too, if there are any around. They're about as common as mice."

Dewpaw nodded, her mouth open to take in all the scents. She.. didn't seem to really understand any of them. Too many scents. She looked back at Caveclaw, "I can't seem to find any thing.. There is a weird scent nearby, but I don't know what it is."

Mouse.
"That's how mouse smell." She explained "Memorize that. But, before we go after it, I'll show you the hunting crouch."
Caveclaw began to get into the hunting crouch.

Dewpaw eyed Caveclaws crouch, going around them a little bit to see what they were doing. She crouched down, her form was okay, a little odd. Her tail wavered in the air. Dewpaw opened her mouth again to take in the smells. "I'm ready." Dewpaw awkwardly positioned herself to the direction where the mouse was.

Caveclaw knew that some cats adjusted the hunting crouch slightly to something they were more comfortable with.
So, she would test if Dewpaw's form was effective for the apprentice.
"Now, focus on the scent of the mouse." They said, voice more quiet now "Creep towards it, pounce before it can escape, and give the killing bite."
If Dewpaw didn't succeed, Caveclaw would simply give a demonstration.

Dewpaw crept towards the smell, the scent becoming stronger and stronger. Her flank wiggled, she prepared to pounce!
Dewpaw leapt, clumsily pouncing the mouse. The mouse started to run away, being free from the apprentices claws. She sprinted after it, she grabbed it in her maws and killed it. She almost lost the mouse!
Dewpaw happily trotted back over to her mentor to show them what she caught.

"Good. With practice, prey will be unable to escape you." She said "We'll catch a few more things for the clan, and then head back, so as many cats as possible are fed."
Honestly, the sheer amount of kits right now would be the ones eating half the prey.

Dewpaw had wandered off, stalking that odd scent.
(Dewpaw is now currently in the private rp location and will appear back here after they're done, sorry for the short post)
