Tawnypaw shifted, feeling a wave of discomfort course doqwn her spine. She looked around, at the pines, the shadows, the floor, and finally, she looked upwards towards the sky, glittering triumphantly with uncountable stars, as if to say "hey, here we are, we ruined your life, have a good day!" She growled, turning her head away. She didn't like stars, but nor did she like the sun much. It was no better in her opinion. She looked at Ratpaw, tilting her head. “Are you gonna leave someday?” she asked, her tail tip twitching every few heartbeats.

Tess was so kind to her and forgiving, he seemed so nice and she was looking forwards to him joining her back to Shadowclan, but he had disappeared. She was only left with her mind to worry about what could have happened to him. She stalked the woods that she had been absent from for so many moons. This was her home and she now learned to treasure every moment she had in it. This was the place that had taken her in as a kit, so lost and alone. She couldn't imagine any other place to be than here apart of Shadowclan.

Halestar exited the clearing, her tail flicking gently as she continued forward. The leader needed to go on a quick walk to clear her mind of the stresses of the clan- she took a small breath and sighed faintly. The responsibility of being the leader- and now she was even having suspicions about Moondancer's ability to be deputy. She just needed some time to think.
The leader continued along the path before spotting a very familiar pelt- Smokeblossom, her past apprentice and close ally. She smiled ever so softly and sped up her pace in the direction of the warrior. "Hello." she called out.

Nothing was stressing her out though, she just felt lonely and didn't feel like moping around camp. So the toms invitation was welcome with a nod,"I could use the company,I don't mind." she said sweetly, using her long limbs to balance herself on the rock again, this time leaving space for the tom if he wanted to settle next to her. She twitched her here at the protection comment, giving a snort in reply.

Jaguarclaw smiled at her welcoming gesture and jumped up on to the rock beside her. There was clearly enough room for them both so he say down and allowed his thin tail to wrap around his large paws. As his olive hues glanced upwards to the sky, he was momentarily at a loss for words. What now? The Bengal lowered his gaze and gave his chest a few licks, making it appear he was simply smoothing down a few ruffled fur clumps, however he was giving himself a few more moments to think without it being an awkward silence. After a few moment, he raised his head again and peered over at Inkjoy. How had he been so rude? He never even introduced himself to her! "I'm Jaguarclaw, apologies for not saying so earlier. I understand if you thought I was just some strange tom waltzing about," he joked a little. Giving her a moment to respond to that, he continued on. "So what do you like so much about sky gazing?" he asked, allowing his gaze to rest on the sky again. He knew that too much eye contract made some cats feel awkward, and assuming she was one of those cats, he allowed his gaze to wander about. Not something he did often.

Smokeblossom was startled by the sound of her leaders voice. Unfortunately for the she cat, she was beginning to see Halestar more as the leader than as her past mentor and friend. That was on her though. It wasn't Halestars fault that she was busy now leading the entire Clan and cleaning up from the aftermath of the Evil Era. It wasn't Halestars fault that Smokeblossom had few friends in Shadowclan. None of this she could out on her. But she smiled, like her normal self and greeted the leader as a friend.
"H-hello Halest-tar!" She chirped happily. Halestar was one of the few cats who she didn't feel weird talking to due to her stutter. "W-what are y-you up t-too t-today?" She asked, trying to carry on a conversation instead of sitting there in awkward silence.

Halestar looked at the younger cat, her smile widening faintly as the other talked. "Hello, Smokeblossom." she mewed, waving her tail as if she were saying hello again. "I am simply walking- or patrolling the territory I suppose." she stated.
The leader paid no attention to the stutter of the other cat and simply brushed up against her pet. "What are you up to?" she asked, tail flicking.

Smokeblossom smiled back, as she seemed to always do when she was around her closest friend. Besides, Halestar had always been there for her, what was to not smile about? "N-nothing m-much. J-just l-laying h-here w-waiting for s-somet-thing t-to do." She responded calmly. Nothing these days compared to the number of catches she had to get while in exile. She spent most days now just laying around camp, or apparently like in Halestars condition, strolling through the territory.
Then she got an idea. One that might seem rude and upfront, but she know Halestar, and didn't think that she would take it as rudeness. "C-could I c-come w-w-with you?" She asked hopefully. Just her and her previous mentor alone in the territory taking a stroll, close enough to her past days.

Orange hues watched the sky as he settled himself on the rock next to her. She laid her ears back at his introduction, chuckling a bit, "O-oh nice to meet you! I'm sorry I didn't introduce myself either. My name is Inkjoy, nice to meet you." she gave a genuine warm smile before her gaze trailing back to the sky at his question. "Well," she didn't know how to correctly answer that question,"when times get lonely I like to skygaze. It's better at night when the stars are around but, the sky's just as pretty if you find the beauty in it." her orange eyes reflected the bright blue of the sky, giving her eyes a blue hue to them, "I'm lonely often, so I skygaze often. It's comforting when you have to much on your mind." There had been a lot on her mind lately, she wasn't the oldest warrior (nor the youngest, either) and wanted to do her best after Ratnight and all. The thought scared her- of being a disappointment which after left her mind to wonder. She wanted to be good as the ancestors whom she gazed at everyday, but her nervousness and anxiety sometimes got in the way of her usual positive thinking at times.

"Oh yes you can." The leader responded, a smile glowing on her fluffy face. "We shall patrol the left borders and then throughout the territory for any signs of foxes or badgers in our territory." Halestar continued, her green eyes focusing on the slightly smaller cat. Then she turned and flicked her tail, quickly leading the way to the left side of the territory.

For the time being, Smokeblossom could have cared less where they were going. She was just happy to have something to do and something to keep her oaws busy. As she followed, matching her pace so she stayed in step with the leader, she scanned the area around her, pale yellow hues sweeping the run if the land, searching for any signs of movement.

Why did it have to be in the territory so far away from the camp? There was no way anyone would hear her even if she tried shouting for help. Plus, if she did, she probably wouldn't live to see if anyone had hurt her. Mistpaw jumped slightly as Hannibal spoke again. Hannibal. Even his name was creepy. Despite her situation, a pang of realisation hit her. That's why she had never seen him before. That's why he didn't smell like a clan cat or a rogue.
He was of the Dusk Syndicate.
Mistpaw didn't know much about the Syndicate. She had only learnt from rumours, that they were an evil bunch of cats and you didn't want to bump into one. For a few, very short moments, the ShadowClan apprentice felt rather sorry for SkyClan, having to live next to a group of such terrible cats.
Mistpaw could feel herself struggling to breathe as the weight of Hannibal was crushing her. Any preference in how you want to die? Any last words? They were just words that Mistpaw would expect from a murderer like Hannibal. He had an eerie aura that just seemed to be telling Mistpaw about what he might say or do. Well, considering this was her last few moments of living, she might as well go along with it. Fear shone in the apprentice's purple eye as she prepared herself to talk. Her blind eye stayed as lifeless as ever. "I would pruh-prefer t-to be killed qu-quickly," Mistpaw stammered. The young she-cat could feel tears threatening to spill over, but she refused to let them. If you're going to die, at least die without crying, Mistpaw thought to herself, though it was harder to actually accomplish it rather than just saying it. "It would also be greatly appreciate it if you could do it in a way where I wouldn't have to feel so much pain," Mistpaw had stopped fighting. She had no more words of hope to speak. She knew she was going to die. There was nothing that could save her. She was speaking her dying words. She was going to lose her life.
Mistpaw stared into the fiery pits that were Hannibal's eyes. They made her want to shriek, just looking at them. Whilst Hannibal may be calm, his calm look was still extremely chilling.
Mistpaw quickly searched for the last words she wished to say. What words did she want to say. Something about her parents? No, she didn't want to put them in danger. Her Clan? No, same for them. A few seconds passed until finally Mistpaw made her decision. Using the air she still had in her lungs, she spoke her very last words.
"Please bury me once i'm dead."
|
How cruel fate has been it seems, that Mistpaw should be the one to find this brutal, terrifying cat, that she be the one to be spotted by him, now she would be sent of a journey to Starclan sooner than she or anyone would have imagined. Her life cut short in it's prime. Not that the thought occurred to the tom, he truly didn't care, her life was about as valuable as a piece of prey and that was the bare truth.
The tom was giving her just a little bit of extra time on earth, not because he held pity or sympathy for her, but because he wanted to see if it instilled more fear in her, her heart was very likely racing in her chest as she anticipated the final moment that would come at whatever time he deemed right. He didn't find pleasure in making others fearful, but rather he saw it as a more interesting reaction than being calm. Fear has always been an emotion he found interesting in other cats for it seemed to rival in intensity as that of anger and joy and at extreme points fear could make a cat do unexpected things. And that never ceased to perk his interest. But Mistpaw did nothing that peaked his interest so he decided to cut to the chase.
Hannibal waited for Mistpaw to reply, figuring it would be polite enough to let her get her final words out, however it was very uncertain if he would follow through with any of her requests. There was a slight twitch in the tip of his tail as she stammered out that she wanted it to be quick, something he already stated that would be carried out.
Then I suppose she wouldn't mind her body to be dismembered hm? So long as it's quick it appears I could do a great number of things to the corpse.
Regardless, the dark tom seemed to nod his head at her final words.
"It's unclear whether or not I'll have the time to bury you, but I'll do my best to make this as quick and 'painless' as possible. Again, incredibly sorry that you had to be killed today, but as fate should have it you crossed my path alone and decided to try and run. Tsk tsk tsk. Enjoy your journey to Starclan or whatever you clan cats believe in."
Now there were several ways that Hannibal could end her, but he decided to do something he quite enjoyed doing with prey. Leaning down to her head, he would snap his jaws into her skull, sharp teeth driving to the bone, cracking it and then penetrating it. Initially it would cause pain and in her last moments he would likely catch his rank, foul breath before everything faded away. Just to be sure, Hannibal would tighten his jaws and bite down harder, eyes closing as crimson leaked in to his mouth before he stepped off and looked down at his handiwork for a moment.
