*EmeraldNight sighed* Alright, fine, I'll come a little bit closer... a little bit *she steps towards the younger feline, her step light so as not to scare him. She stops so she was three feet away* That better? *she asked, sitting once again. She flicked her tail, then immediatly stood as her gaze locked on a squirrel a few feet away. She flicked an ear towards HerringPaw* Alright, Herring, I want to see your hunting skills. Can you show me how you hunt that squirrel?

Herringpaw gazed at the warrior as she came closer, a bit scared as she did, his ears twitching slightly, he gazed at the squirrel and shook his head. "I-I don't want to, the others are gonna laugh at me." He mewed and this time, he was the one who wanted space, backing away. "I don't want to..." He repeated, sitting down, he was stubborn, yes, but he was like that, and he wouldn't change for anyone.

*EmeraldNight's eyes softened a little bit* Hey, HerringPaw, it's alright. I won't laugh at you... If there is anything I am not good at, it's laughing *she said this in a slightly soft way, this being the first burst of kindness she had shown to the Tom since he had come up to her*

Stepping out of the Apprentice's Den quietly, Rabbitpaw's fur stuck up in static as she yawned, eyes sparkling in the brightened sunlight. She was tired, but the morning sun would've woken her up anyways if she hadn't dragged herself onto her feet anyways. She hadn't trained with her new mentor, Mistfall, yet, though she was quite excited for her first lesson. She was apparently a good friend of her father's, which was a nice thing to know- she didn't know much about the tom's connections besides the fact that he'd been growing closer to another cat- Whisperblaze. Shaking her head at the thought of all these cats she used to have no idea about, she padded into the clearing loudly, her paws trampling into the frozen ground as if she was a charging bull- it was clear that stealth wasn't this cat's greatest asset. Her tail swung from side-to side as she glanced around the camp, eyes widened as she saw so many cats doing their day-to day routines- it was the first time she'd really seen how busy the RiverClan camp was in the mornings. It was surely overloading her senses, but she didn't mind the feeling- the nursery seemed to always be crowded when she grew up there, anyways. It didn't look like she would be training today, however, and she still couldn't go out of camp without a warrior escort, and so the small she-cat looked around for somebody to talk to, preferably somebody she already knew. Thankfully, her eyes caught the sight of a familiar curly-furred pelt- that of her friend, Littlepaw. Grinning in relief, the new apprentice called out towards the tom as she scampered over to go talk to him. "Hey, Littlepaw!" She exclaimed in her usual high-pitched chime. "How are you? I'm so excited, I swear!"

[ahh, i know i said i was going to respond last night or early this morning but i just suddenly lost all my motivation to write /: sorry!]
[also i remembered that pineneedle was the former mentor of russet and ofc i just had to incorporate that somehow]
Littlepaw paused mid-scratch at a well-known meow, brightening visibly; he could always rely on his wonderful friend to pull him out of potentially boring situations. "Rabbitpaw!" chirped the LaPerm tom, lowering his paw from his nose and turning to face his pal. "I'm super excited, too!" he meowed, beaming with happiness. "Oh! My mentor's name is Pineneedle, which is really cool," he started to ramble, "but I heard from one of my older friends that she also was the mentor of Russetstar, and I mean yeah, that's, like, super awesome and all, but Russetstar's also kind of the leader of RiverClan? Which is also really scary. But then that means I could be on par with the skills of Russetstar!" he exclaimed, then suddenly hesitated, eyes wide. It seemed that he had forgotten quite an important bit of information. "Oh, wait—Russetstar is your... dad..." he trailed off. Littlepaw dug his small claws into the dirt, realizing that his speech might've actually made Rabbitpaw a touch uncomfortable. Although he despised the feeling of dirtiness, he grew nervous at the drop of a hat, and this was no exception. He racked his brain for another topic, hoping that Rabbit wouldn't be as awkward as he had just become. As he was terrible at transitions, he decided to just blurt out a subject change. "Do you think you're gonna visit the nursery anymore? I might, but I don't really talk to Flickerstream all that much, and I wouldn't really wanna see Silverpool," the small tom meowed, thinking about his new topic. He had almost completely dismissed the earlier subject, one out of his many mechanisms for ridding himself of embarrassment. "I think I would like to visit the nursery, but I might be too busy. I dunno if Pineneedle's going to be strict or not, but if she is, I wouldn't have enough time to stop by!" Littlepaw said, leaning his head back to look up at the bright sky. His pupils contracted into slits as he stared up at the glaring sun. Releasing his grasp on the dirt underneath his paws, he let out a long breath and tilted his head back forwards to meet Rabbitpaw's gaze with a lopsided smile. Although he felt a bit better, much of his excitement had dissipated.

"I-I still don't want to... Ma'am..." Herringpaw mewed shyly, barely audible for her, he gazed at her, surprised at her sudden kindness, he had never seen her like that before, and by the expression on his face, he was a bit- definitively surprised.

Re: RiverClan Clearing
Leafclaw padded out into the sunlight, eyes glinting with amusement as he glanced towards Herringpaw and EmeraldNight. The large tom found a warm spot in the dirt to sit down on and began grooming his luscious fur. He let the chattering of the apprentices slip by as he starting on his paw, before moving to his haunches. Leafclaw was in a lazy mood, which was why he wasn't out hunting or otherwise annoying his clanmates.

Re: RiverClan Clearing
Morktfur slid around the camp nonchalantly as he veiwed the other warriors he may or may not want to go hunting with. He was truly itching to go; he even thought about going by himself, then decided that if he turned up empty pawed, he'd have no one to back him up that he was really trying. He sighed, curling his lips into a frown. Why wasn't he as good at hunting as he was at fighting?

Re: RiverClan Clearing
@Crow (thought i'd leave this for now c: )
A rustle of the camp entrance could be heard as Larkflight slid through, pieces of debris still clinging to her fur and droplets of water falling from her maw. Her fur was weight down, still damp from the frozen river water that she'd so clumsily fallen into, although she no longer felt the cold it had initially pushed through her fur. Her ears were pinned back and head down as she trudged into camp, leaving a wet trail behind her until she finally paused to catch her breath, sides heaving with each one.
Today had been a rather nice day, and all the RiverClan warrior had intended to do with her time was check downstream for any parts of the river that were unfrozen and prey-filled near the ThunderClan border. What the she-cat hadn't expected was to see the ThunderClan apprentice Sorrelpaw, her daughter, in the midst of warrior training. She hadn't meant to get so distracted and entranced by her daughter that she stepped forward, only to end up the fish herself, flopping around in the pool. Of course, it had alerted the cats on the ThunderClan side of the border and Sorrelpaw had come racing over, pulling Larkflight out of the river. "Are you okay?" Her daughter's words swiriled around in her head and the dark furred warrior shut her eyes tight as if to block out the sound. She hadn't even said one word, just backing away before turning tail and fleeing. Running, like she always did.
As she thought about it now, opening her eyes, Larkflight felt shame wash over her in waves of grief. She had been so young, just barely a warrior, when she had fallen in love with Sorrelpaw's father - a Syndicate cat whom Larkflight now hated with every fiber in her body. Back then, things had seemed so simply, and when she had given birth to three beautiful, healthy kits, all the broken pieces in her life seemed to come together. Now, with her family scattered across the forest, Larkflight felt the weight of the world upon her shoulders. She sighed once more, gathering herself up just enough to start grooming her fur dry, anger now radiating from within her skin as she began to fluff up her fur.

Re: RiverClan Clearing
Swanflower watched the this new cat with fascination. She seemed to be upset, or at least, that is how it appeared. The white long-furred she-cat watched as the other cat began to radiate strong feelings of anger.
Swanflower didn't know the cat very well, but felt a feeling of sadness for her. What had made her so upset.
She had never been noticed in her Clan, as she was a little shy and could be a bit standoffish at times. She hesitated before asking, "Are you all right? Er...Whatever your name is?" She ruffled her fur in embarrassment, wishing she could take it back. I dearly hope she won't dislike me
@ Lilly (Sorry, I'm so awkward)

*EmeraldNight's eyes widened in surprise* Ma'am... *she lowered and shook her head, chuckling to herself* A cat actually called me Ma'am... *she looked up at him, her eyes shining* Well, how bout I help you out? I may not be a Mentor, but I am happy to share my hunting knowledge with others *she nodded at the younger cat* The point about hunting, fighting, or anything, really, is to focus on what you can do, not what you can't do. If you focus on what you are actually able to do, you'll succeed *she licked a paw, then lowered it, twitching her ears as she gazed at HerringPaw* With my wisdom of the day aside, why don't you show me how you hunt, and I'll give you pointers on what you need to work on, and also tell you what you're skilled at. Go ahead. It is important for you to know your abilities and flaws, and this is the best way to start *she gazed at him, tail twitching, waiting for him to go after the squirrel*
