Birchpaw bounced over to Elmshadow, excitement written on her face. "Where are we going, Elmshadow? Somewhere cool?" She was pretty excited, it was her first patrol after all.

Robinfeather laughed at the apprentices excitement. She remembered her first patrol as an apprentice and could imagine how Birchpaw was feeling.

~ IVYSNAKE OF SHADOWCLAN ~

Ivysnake licked one paw and drew it over her dark brown ears. After everything that had happened, ShadowClan was finally back in its home. The tall tabby repeated the motion, thinking as she did so. There were many things on her mind. Centipedepaw still had many things to learn - hunting and fighting being the most important - and Ivysnake made a mental note to teach him those things as soon as possible. Then there was her duty as ShadowClan's medicine cat apprentice. They needed herbs. Desperately. Marigold came to mind. It was one of the most important herbs, detrimental in both preventing and stopping infection, and it could also be used to stop bleeding. Finally, there was the matter of having a family. Ivysnake didn't want to have one now - she was too busy - but in the future, it would be good to find a good, worthy cat to have kits with. Perhaps more than one. ShadowClan's numbers were dwindling, and the she-cat believed she could help them by providing kits.

A flicker of dark-gray-and-black fur caught Ivysnake's attention. Turning, the medicine cat apprentice saw Elmshadow sitting down in the clearing. The tom looked alert and commanding. He's about to send out herb patrols, I'd assume. She was thinking of volunteering when Elmshadow called her name. The black-striped tabby rose to her paws and listened to his instructions. She was to bring a patrol of whoever she wanted. "Yes, Elmshadow," she meowed, dipping her head. Then she scanned the clearing with her sharp, piercing amber gaze, thinking and picking out cats she wanted to bring with her. She also kept an ear out for who Elmshadow called so she didn't repeat anyone's name.

Unfortunately, he called Sharpfang, so Ivysnake wasn't able to bring the flecked she-cat with her. Other than that, she was free to bring who she wanted. The dark brown tabby barked out orders quickly, flicking her tail for each name she called. "Vixensnarl! Orchidmoon! Herb patrol - come here." Ivysnake waited for them to hopefully gather, then meowed, "We'll go out into the territory and look around. Our main goal is marigold. That's a yellow-and-orange flower with a scent that's a mixture of sharp and sweet. Come on - there's no time to waste." Trusting that they had heard her directions, Ivysnake began to head out of the camp with just one backward glance.

The gray she-cat walked over to Elmshadow. She'd be on a herb gathering patrol - How stressful. The descriptions of the flowers seemed easy enough to recognize, but how many other plants matched those descriptions? She'd still try her best.

Grayscar looked around for her patrol mates. She was excited to spend time with her apprentice, and she wasn't too familiar with her other patrol members, so it would be an interesting experience.

Orchidmoon padded over as she heard her name called, tail-tip twitching as she searched for her former apprentice, who I it seemed was also going to join them on this patrol. She had begun to notice how often she and Vixensnarl were assigned to work together, and it struck her as a bit odd, but she wasn’t going to complain. It was true that she did mentor Vixensnarl, and did a wonderful job at it. Perhaps the clan was just able to recognize that they worked well together.

Vixensnarl's ears perked at the sound of Ivysnake's voice calling for her. She quickly gave each of her legs a stretch before padding over towards the medicine cat apprentice and her former mentor. "Okay," the Enforcer said as she memorized Ivysnake's description of the plant. Hopefully, the twolegs hadn't destroyed everything when they were running wild in ShadowClan's territory.

The young molly heard her mentor's name called by her father, and by some miracle, decided to investigate. Oh, so she was half of "your apprentices". Coldly giving her father a brief glance, she lashed her tail before approaching Grayscar. The split faces chimera waited almost eagerly for her sister, though, because what could be better than having her first patrol with her sister? Nothing!

[PATROLS ARE DUE SEPTEMBER 17TH. Make sure to report to Cinderblaze in the patrol place, as incompleted patrols WILL result in punishment. VM me if you need to be replaced within 2 days, and if you need an extension let me know before the deadline.]

Cinderblaze slipped out of the warrior's den, padding to the base of the Shadowledge and craning his neck to look for cats he could put on patrols. He bunched his muscles, sending out patrols was a routine for now, but he'd have to be a bit more careful with this round due to the twoleg trash lying around."ShadowClan, listen up! I'm sending out patrols! When you're out there, be aware of the twoleg junk that's spread everywhere. I don't want every patrol reporting back to me with injured cats."

[OPTIONAL PROMPT: The border seems quiet. Eerily quiet. You are startled when a branch snaps under someone's paw.]
First of all, the ThunderClan border. "Owlstorm [ @Morning! ], head to the ThunderClan border with Wildpaw [ @marshall ]. Make sure she doesn't cause trouble." He didn't trust Wildpaw, but he knew that Owlstorm was responsible and surely she could handle the troublemaker.

[OPTIONAL PROMPT: The mud at the border is really slippery. One of you slips and falls face-first into the mud.]
"Spiritfire [ @RiztheHuntress ]!" he called as he started selecting cats for the next border. Normally, he would place three cats onto border patrols, but he decided to go with just two this time. "Take Fallenpaw [ @Katlike ] to the RiverClan border."

[OPTIONAL PROMPT: The wind starts getting colder and stronger, and you return home shivering.]
And lastly, the WindClan border. "Garfield [ @error ], I want you to take Iceeyes [ @Willowfern ] and Darkpaw [ @Darkclaws ] to the WindClan border." He figured he'd send three cats on this patrol because he wanted to place his apprentice on one to asses Darkpaw, but at the same time he also wanted to make sure the newcomer Iceeyes was responsible enough to complete a patrol.

[OPTIONAL PROMPT: There seems to be a lot of twoleg trash in this specific area. Does anyone get injured?]
"Roanpaw [ @birdie ], I'm taking you to Mourning Ruins for some hunting," the deputy mewed. He was curious to see why Dawnstar had selected Roanpaw as her apprentice.

[OPTIONAL PROMPT: There are odd noises coming from... somewhere, but after investigating, you find out that it's just the leaves being rustled by the wind.]
"And lastly, Badgerscar [ @Spotty ], take Ruepaw [ @neptune ] to Croaking Swamp and bring back prey." Once he was done he turned to look for Roanpaw.

Roused by the sound of the deputy shuffling towards the Shadowledge, Ruepaw lifts his head from his choice napping spot, in a little shallow dip by the elder's den just within reach of some sunlight, if the time was right. By now, the sun had moved off of him though. Yellow eyes peer at the tom across the clearing, and as patrols start to get ordered, the apprentice gets up.

He was already padding towards Cinderblaze, preparing to head out with the tom once he was finished selecting other cats to go other places. But when the deputy finally gets to himself, he chooses some random nobody to go out and hunt with instead. Citrine eyes spark with surprise for a brief moment before the young tom turns to gaze around for Roanpaw.

After another moment, Ruepaw decides that he would invite himself along too- That was his mentor, after all. And... He hadn't yet done any mentoring (to him). But, as if reminded of Ruepaw's existence, Cinderblaze assigns him to the final patrol with some warrior, and the slender little calico grits his teeth. He was too pretty to talk back, but too petty to want to let Cinderblaze leave with some other apprentice. What drama.

"Fine," he says, though Cinderblaze couldn't read the internal monologue the pretty tom was stewing. "If the deputy wants to train his leader's apprentice," Ruepaw chirps with mock cheer now, lifting his chin up, "his own apprentice will happily get out of the way." Perhaps Cinderblaze's eyes weren't even on him, and truly they didn't need to be- Ruepaw was just theatrical, and relished the thought of antagonizing whoever might hear it.
