''Hey!'' Tornadopaw yelped as he landed into the water. He shivered from the coldness and stared daggers at his mentor, before laughing. ''Touche.'' He replied, padding into the water. ''How deep do you think I can go? How long do you think I can hold my breath?'' Tornadopaw asked while swimming around. He ducked his head quickly, seeing a group of school fish underwater. He begin paddling towards them, and quickly sliced one with his paws. He brought his head up, grasping for air, and with the fish neatly clinging to his paws, he padded to the shore to let it go. ''There's one for you.'' He chuckled before getting back into the water. It wasn't as cold as before especially since his body warmed up to the heat. ''Are you going to come into the water? Or are you scared?'' He joked. The events from earlier were clearing from his thoughts. And, for the first time today, he felt brave again.

Lilyshade rolled her eyes at him before diving down. She opened her eyes wide, searching the water. There! A trout, swimming lazily underneath her. With long strokes, she swam down and quickly grasped the fish in her jaws before exploding out of the water. She swam over to the bank and deposited her catch. She grinned at Tornadopaw. "Let's see who can catch more," she suggested. A flash caught her eye and she dove underneath the tom, slicing into a fish. Coming back up for air, she held up the minnow. "Another one for me," she grinned triumphantly at him and then launched the fish next to the others. "See if you can catch up," she said, winking. Lilyshade dove down once more, not waiting for Tornadopaw. He would catch up quickly. He was a good swimmer and hunter.

Tornadopaw swam quickly, ducking his head underwater to sight several fish. He begin padding to them with unsheath claws. He swiped one up, letting it dangle on his claws. He threw it to the shore before going back under. He knew how to hold his breath a bit longer, gaining the skill in his lonely time. He swam up to another group of fish, slicing his claws into it, before coming back up and gasping for air. ''Wow!'' He shouted, excitedly and flung the fish to the shore. He wondered how many they caught? It was surely making him hungry, but he knew he had to catch more. He took a quick glance at his mentor, wondering what she was up to. Then, he dived back under and lingered there for a while. Just holding his breath. His eyes stared at a trout, and he went farther to catch it. When it saw that he was after it, he was forced to come up from air from being under for too long, but he refused to give up. Ducking back under, he caught sight of the fish again and gave gentle strokes to not scare it away. In a flash he sunk his claws into it, and went back up for air. He flung the fish to the shore, coughing a bit.

Lilyshade had stopped fishing to watch Tornadopaw fish. He was a remarkable swimmer and would be a good warrior. She watched as he flung 3 fish onto the shore and then, on his next dive, she dove with him. Motioning with her paws, she indicated to a group of carp on the bottom, telling him that they should both go down there at the same time and kill them. As a signal, she flicked her tail on his flank and then swam down, slicing into any fish she could reach. She used this method because she knew the fish would float to the top, allowing them to follow the fish up and herd them over to the bank. However, it could be a problem if the current was fast, as it could sweep the fish away. Luckily, the current was lazy today and didn't carry the fish too fast, allowing them to swim after it should it be carried down the river. Lilyshade surfaced and carried some fish in her jaws, while also snagging some fish with her claws. Even though it made it somewhat hard to swim, it was still an effective way to carry fish. Throwing the fish she had on the shore, she turned to survey the surface, looking for any fish she missed.

Tornadopaw followed after his mentor, acknowledging what she wanted him to do. He watched as she sliced a fish, and when the fish swam up; he strikes. He pinned a fish into his claws, and quickly flung it onto the shore so that he could catch more. He admired the truth of his mentor and was happy that he was assigned her.
He kicked his hind legs in the water, waddling to another large fish. He was getting cold, and he felt numb while in the water, but he wanted to catch this last fish. He needed to catch this last fish. He swam to him, clawing at it with all his might. The fish somehow dodged the attack, and Tornadopaw missed. He hissed under his breath and ducked his head under to struck the fish in the side, sinking his claws into its flesh. With the fish attached to his claws, he swam to the shore. His body was numb, and he curled himself in a ball to exert some type of heat. He then heard his stomach growling, and he turned to stare at his mentor. ''Do you think we can get something to eat?'' He asked her.

Lilyshade purred at the amount of fish they had caught, it had been a good day. She noticed Tornadopaw shivering and pressed against him to warm him up a bit. She shook her head at his question. "Not yet. Elders and queens eat first, remember?" With that she picked up some fish and started walking back to camp, looking back at Tornadopaw before she went too far. "Come on," she mumbled around the fish. "We can get some other cats to go and retrieve the rest of the fish if you're too cold to come back out here." Lilyshade felt proud of her apprentice. He had learned so much today, and he didn't complain once. She stared ahead, already thinking of tomorrow's training session. They would probably practice some more battle moves, and if he's not too tired she'd teach him land hunting.

It was both from the cold and the stress; her whole body was responding from the emotional stress she was experiencing. Her jaw clenched and her quiet cries were silenced, the violent shaking making her legs cease up. She slumped against Mistfall's side, depositing a decent amount of weight against the she-cat, who though taller and stronger than Geckoleaf may not be able to take the weight of the medicine cat for long. Her paws slid against the ice, as she was unable to keep tension on her joints. She completely fell, laying on the cold ground, the heat being sapped from her body. She curled into herself, shuddering.

Images floated across her eyes continually. They were ever increasingly horrible, and she couldn't tell them from reality. They were her reality now, even if just perceived. Blood, blood was everywhere, thick and dark. The snow was no longer red, but strikingly red. The trees dripped it, and the river flowed with the crimson liquid, and her fur was stained a darker orange. She let out a screech, piercing and unearthly. Geckoleaf squeezed her eyes shut, and tears trailed down her cheeks, and froze there. But the memories did end, just intensified. She saw every manner of horrible image, many conjured by her own mind. Dead mothers with stillborn kits, warriors with throats slit and guts spilt. Elders with rattling breaths as they died from incurable diseases. She wailed louder, unable to proccess the waves of memories.

It had taken moons and seasons to lock away the fears and memories that haunted her. The barrier she erected had always been precariously thin, but with the recent torrent of patients, the mention of the Evil Era had tipped her over the edge, and it snapped. She convulsed violently, completely overcome. She felt her breath squeezed out of her, and she couldn't breathe either. Geckoleaf felt like she was drowning in memory, in the blood of those she hadn't saved.

Mistfall's words slowly entered her mind, whispering through the painful memory. She slowly opened her blurry eyes and looked up at the silver molly; she looked strange and distorted, and covered with more of the sticky red liquid. She whimpered, a strange fear of the tabby filtering through her; would she lose Mistfall to injury or illness. Like Marshsnow. She could almost envision deep wounds stretching across her sides and throat. More blood.

She squeezed shut her eyes, and turned her head to the side, heaving up the meager meal she had had that morning. She dry vomited, feeling woozy and sick from the images that just wouldn't stop.

She howled, trying to escape. Needing to escape. She desperately clung to the soft rasping of a tongue over her head, the fur being flattened and smoothed. Her wailing quieted, and the visions of gore slowly dissipated, and she pulled herself back to reality. She opened her eyes, brows furrowed in worry that she'd see blood. But all she saw was white snow, and her own orange legs. She softly whimpered again, more out of embarrassment, and the fear that she'd have another attack.

She tried to stand up, the strength having been sapped from her. Softly she grunted, and pulled herself up to a sitting position. She looked towards Mistfall, and let out a low moan. "I-I'm sorry. You shouldn't have had to see that.. I'm just weak, it's not... Not anything..." She quietly whispered, ears heating slightly. No one, not even Cougarstorm, had been there to see her break down, and she'd never had one so bad.

Geckoleaf began to tear up, feeling guilty for making Mistfall deal with her. She frowned with more guilt, tail flicking nervously. "Oh. I'm so sorry.. I really.. Really just... Oh, please forgive me!" She softly exclaimed, shame burning through her.
(oh god, sorry this took so long! :c)

The warrior's ears were flat as she continued to watch the medicine cat shaking. She could understand what was going on in the fiery molly’s head. Mistfall was clearly worried about her, watching a sudden mental breakdown was quite terrifying for the company of the person that was breaking down. Mist herself had broken down a bit after her mate had been murdered and her sister was still struggling to recover after Ravenwing’s attack… but it wasn’t like this. She hadn’t been shaking like this, panicking and crying out things like Geckoleaf was. Claiming that she had killed them, but she hadn’t meant to. That she couldn’t save them. She was crying and shuddering.

It was actually quite heartbreaking to see this happen to someone.

She watched as Geckoleaf let Mistfall pull her closer in her attempt to help her calm down. The medicine cat quickly went limp and just let all her weight rest on the multi-grey warrior. What’s going on with her? Does she need some help, like from a medicine cat? Mistfall began to wonder if they should head towards one of the other clans in search for help. Despite knowing it was a mental issue rather than physically, she believed that medicine cats were their best bets… but at the same time she wasn’t sure that they could even help this. [I[Is this just… is this just something that will go away soon?[/I] She hated to see the respected molly breaking down like this.

The warrior began to feel the weight from the smaller cat, and shifted slightly as she tried to keep from giving in to Geckoleaf’s weight. Despite Geckoleaf being about half the size of the average warrior - therefore even shorter than Mistfall herself - one’s body, especially when limp, is still heavy nonetheless. Though before it got too difficult to continue to hold her up, the tabby’s slipped causing her to fall to the cold ground. Mistfall quickly bent down and brushed Geckoleaf’s side with her white tail. “Are you okay?” She mewed softly, hoping that when she slipped she hadn’t cut herself or perhaps even twisted a paw.

But as the images of blood in Geckoleaf’s mind increased, causing the whole territory to be drenched ominously in red, the medicine cat let out a screech and made Mistfall leaned away and even took a small step away from the tabby. The cry had been piecing, and even hurt the warrior’s ears and it rang through. But then the medicine cat went back into silence, her orbs were shut tight and tears were rolling down her orange cheeks. What should I do? Am I even helping? AmI making it worse? She was worried and glanced around with her pale orbs, unsure if anyone happened to be around.

She wanted help, but at the same time maybe it was best no one else was around to see their medicine cat in this state.

Once again, Geckoleaf looked up at Mistfall, her eyes teary as she did so. She seemed to have a similar reaction compared to the last time she had looked at the warrior. This time she simply shut her orbs again so that she couldn’t see the blood all over her pelt - or at the blood that she was imagining was all over Mistfall’s pelt. The medicine cat began to dry vomit, and Mistfall pinned her ears back and glanced away, awkward but still worried. She didn’t want to watch this, she didn’t want to feel so helpless as she knew something was going on Geckoleaf’s mind… it hurt her to see this happen to the respected molly.

But Mistfall turned back to her and continued to draw her rough tongue softly against her forehead… still trying to comfort the panicking molly, hoping she would soon calm down and hopefully get better - or at least to how she was before. When she seemed more pleasant and had her protective wall in her mind in order to prevent these images of death from scarring her mentally.

The warrior felt a wave of relief splash over her body as Geckoleaf seemed to be pulled out of her mental torture and back to the snowy reality, lacking the blood that had covered her visions. Mistfall continued to lick her head, though she could have probably stopped. She suddenly felt almost… motherly as she licked Geckoleaf’s forehead in order to calm her down like a mother would do to her kit - though she didn’t see Geckoleaf like a kit, but rather more of a friend. I wonder if this is what being a mother feels like… She had never thought about having kits before, she had always been to preoccupied and even as she got into a relationship Fallow had been a molly as well. Though the two did adopt a kit, he quickly came to hate Mist and after Fallow was murdered the two hadn’t seen each other.Besides, Mist never thought about taking in another mate, not now nor in the future. Of course, her and Fallow had been mates for a very short time and she was still very young, but she still loved her and she didn’t want to replace her late mate.

Her tail twitched as Geckoleaf gave out a small whimper, but she was glad that she had stopped crying out. She was turning away or shutting her eyes nor was she really panicking and dry heaving anymore either. What ever had taking over the medicine cat seemed to have passed, much to Mistfall’s pleasure. She wanted to ask what had happened, but knew it was best not to ask about it so soon after it seemed to have finally passed. In fact, she doubted she should ever bring it up again. The warrior wasn’t sure what had triggered it, but she never wanted it to happen again. Had Geckoleaf ever gone through this before? Is it something that she lives through often? Mistfall still was unaware about the border and the horrors that Geckoleaf was constantly going through back at camp, especially now with most of their clan-mates becoming sick.

As the medicine cat struggled to get up,Mistfall offered her shoulder for the orange tabby to use as support. When she looked back up at Mistfall - this time she didn’t glance away or shut her eyes - the warrior made sure to meet her gaze. Her spotted ears flicked as she tried to keep themfrom flattening while the tabby apologized for her break down and claimed that she was ‘weak’. The multi-colored molly watched with a sad look in her pale orbs, a look of pity. Not just for the break down, but also because she saw herself as weak. “Don’t say that,” her voice seemed to lack the gentleness it had contain earlier and now was more strong as she spoke. “You are not weak - you are stronger than many other cats,” it wasn’t a whole speech, but she meant what her words honestly. “And there is nothing to forgive,” she continued. “I highly doubt that was anything you could control. Don’t blame yourself for that.” mistfall paused for a moment, remembering how Geckoleaf had cried out that it was her fault they died.

“Don’t blame yourself for anything.”

(hey, i’m doing this thing with tawny~ where Mist gets attacked by Boreas and almost dies, would it be alright if that happens later on in this roleplay? Then Gecko could use Mist as ‘practice’ for her healing powers - you don’t have to say yes, i was just asking ^u^)

Tornadopaw nodded, and he carried a couple fish into his maw as he trotted after her. He cursed himself for being selfish and thinking of himself. He knew the queens and elders had to eat first, and he was perfectly fine with that. It was just how the clan works. The elders needed all the strength they could get and the queens needed food to produce healthy kits. Tornadopaw knew he had enough strength to hold himself together, and he was excited about the skills he'd be able to learn on ground instead of in water. He was overjoyed with the feeling of catching something that's running on ground instead of swimming in water, especially since the river was beginning to take a cold turn because of the season. He noted to himself to practice some of his battle moves just in case Lilyshade wanted to train. He deemed to impress her in that field! His eyes sparked at the thought.

The shuddering stopped, she righted herself, attempting to regain posture. Her muscles had been drained from energy, and she found it hard to inasmuch as stand straight. She clenched her jaw and worked at her posture for a moment more, until she was drawn up to a suitably straight position, though her legs still shook slightly beneath her. She gave herself the smallest of shakes, attempting to loose debris from her fur. Her muscles felt flimsy and weak, too limp to even rid her of the dirt that stubbornly clung to her. Cold air rushed in, between the layers of thick hair, chilling her skin and making her shudder slightly. She gratefully accepted Mistfall's help, this time only depositing a fraction of her weight onto her newfound friend.

Her tail twitched slightly, and she shifted weight awkwardly, feeling deeply guiltily for what she had done. Geckoleaf tended to be overly self reliant- instead of admitting that she occasionally needed help, she would pile herself high with work and expectations, never letting another help her bear her burden. And omitting to assistance felt like personal betraya; she felt as if she were to help her clan mates, without them being allowed to reciprocate. So Mistfall providing emotional support felt wrong, but it was near necessary; even now, the snow had a strange pink afterglow, the world even now not a pure white. The light filtering through icicles was a soft ruby, and the white of her own fur smacked of red undertones. Despite having settled, she was still so fragile, as if the slightest thing could hurt her.

She helped others, and selflessly gave, but Geckoleaf needed to be healed. Cougarstorm had been a reliable figure, something sturdy to rest herself upon, but still not what she needed. The medicine cat needed a sister, a kindred soul who could provide unique help. And she was realizing that maybe, just maybe Mistfall could be such a special friend. But that would require the milky opening up, which she was bad at already. And, to her, showing someone the darkest depths of her fear was not necessarily the pea hurst way to open up a new chapter.

She stood still as Mistfall met her gaze; the milky green eyes were surprisingly piercing, and she felt rooted to the ground, ready to here anything that the grey warrior spoke to her, much as a deer freezes at the sight of headlights. And she listened to everything intently, still feeling the need to tether to herself to something, while she was adrift in the sea of red that was the nightmares and pain of her past. Each word brought her closer to being completely present; it washed the film of red away from her eyes, and the world seemed clearer.

It took her a moment to proccess Mistfall's words; at first she only heard sounds and syllables, until they seemed to gain meaning, a moment too late. Compliments, reassurance- someone telling her she was strong. It was refreshing, really. Everyone always told her how pretty and talented she was, never that she had any grit, or that their might be things in her life she couldn't control. And though she usually shied away from praise, this time she soaked it up, like a flower leaning towards a shaft of sunlight. Yet, she couldn't help but still feel abashed, shame for her meltdown still smarting and fresh. She tried not cry, feeling stupid for feeling things that she couldn't control. She bit at her bottom lip, eyes burning slightly. Her gaze skirted away from Mistfall's, her skittish nature prevalent. But instead of crying, she acted impulsively- in a move, she had pressed her face against the grey she-cat's chest, ears still flattened, eyes pressing shut. The feeling of being able to press against something sturdy and real assured her she was alright, and mopped up the remaining feeling of guilt.

Softly, she mumbled; "I.. I still am... But thank you... It makes a world of difference that somebody still cares for me. I'm just glad you didn't leave me.. Like everyone else." Her words were soft and weak, but filled with her gratitude. She was too emotionally exhausted to cry for all her loss- but nonetheless, a bit of childish fear filled her that Mistfall would just suddenly leave. Like her parents- like her sister, her mentor, her leader. She drew back her head, just enough so that she could look up at Mistfall. "Y-you won't leave me, right? I don't.. I don't think I could stand it.. Please stay." She didn't cry, just looked tired and miserable, a pitiable specimen. If the warrior less, she would shed no tears, only sigh in exhaustion and walk on.

(of course you can! geck can run off after she smells some herbs, then we'll she's gone, mist gets attacks, so that she's not interfering with plot, then she can cone back and help mist?)
