Rosekit listened. As Splashleap showed the kits how to move around in the hunting crouch, the little kit replicated her movements to the best of her knowledge. Noticing that the warrior's tail was up, she fixed her positioning. She creeped, as well as she could, following Splashleap's circular path. "Like this?" She silently hoped she was doing it right.

Good, Aspenkit didn't have any questions. She was worried the amoynt of information she had thrown at the kit might overwhelm him, but he seemed to understand it. Algaebird answered his question of what the other clan's territory was like, and she elaborated on the other warrior's answer.

"ThunderClan's territory is tightly packed with trees. ShadowClan has mostly pines, spruces and firs, and a lot of it is marsh. WindClan's territory is almost completely open." That was about as much as she could give him about the other clan's territories given she had never explored them, so she moved on to another topic.

"I'm sure you know our relationship with the other clans, but I'll give you a brief summary of the history between them and us. A lot of this you'll probably already know, but I think it's worth telling you to fill in the gaps. WindClan has the most reason to invade us; we killed their deputy, some warriors severely injured one of their apprentices after she crossed the border, and three of their warriors invaded their camp." Annoyance pricked her pelt as she recounted how the stupidity of their warriors had contributed to RiverClan's demise. And, of course, Dusklion's rashness. She would respect her, but the fact remained that she was the one who had tipped RiverClan over the edge.

"We have a very rocky history with ThunderClan. I won't cover the specifics, but we've caused them a lot of grief." And they had returned the favour. They were even now, but rage still ignited in her chest when she thought of them. The slate should have been wiped clean long ago; it wasn't her generation that had antagonised them. But clearly Bumblestar had been nursing a grudge for a long time. And now the cycle would continue.

"On the other paw, we haven't done anything worth being invaded by ShadowClan." Anger laced her words, but she forced herself to keep her cool. There was no score to be settled with them, no reason for what they had done to RiverClan. "I believe Dawnstar agreed to win favour with the other clans." And she was probably itching for a fight after moons of peace.

aspenkit frowned at the words he was told, first off he couldn't think of anything in each clans territory that would make them weak and second of Irisfrost's words about the other clans....they were not even! Nothing justified their attack on riverclan. He knows Fadingstar had told him to let it go and leave these worries to leaders like him but it was too difficult. Being in this territory made it difficult, this wasn't his home! "But it's not fair! Shadowclan didn't need to attacks, thunderclan had no right to attack us and for whatever reason Windclan decided that they should attack as well- they deserved what happened to them! They're all a bunch rogues, murders- disgraceful and deserve to rot-" aspenkit cut himself off and instead looked at his paws, he had many words, some he shouldn't say. He was close to being an apprentice and he was going ruin his chances behaving like this. Like a kit. "I- sorry.....I just thought others agreed that.....yeah sorry" He apologized. Good now he wouldn't get into any trouble. Yep totally. What was there to get in trouble about?

Algaebird looked at Aspenkit before ßpeaking. “Well, Dusklion, our deputy killed Windclan's deputy,Fallenear was his name if I remember correctly but Thunderclan and Shadowclan had no reason too attack us." (If I have the lore incorrect, please tell me!)

"Oh."

Salamanderkit deflates a bit to hear that they're not going to do real war stuff, just 'the basics'. Whatever that means. She's sucking her teeth and rolling her eyes in disappointment before recalling the brief lesson she'd picked up from Splashleap. Fighting means a lot of thinking and planning, and sometimes making your paws do different things at the same time. The word she's thinking of, but doesn't really know, is coordination. And while she only knows the concept and not the term, Salamanderkit knows she's not very good at that thing. Or the planning aspect. Or...well, any of it. Besides being big and daring and strong and awesome, of course—she was born knowing that one.

So maybe 'the basics' means knowing how to do that bothersome, tricky, thinking-and-planning part. Or maybe knowing 'the basics' will make that stuff easier somehow. A kitten can hope.

Resolving to hope and not mope, Salamanderkit fixes her face and comes out of that temporary disappointment looking significantly less glum. This will be good. This will be fun.

"Are we all gonna get to hit each other?" She asks, watching with a wicked glint in her eye as the group of defense-class kittens steadily starts to pack together. Perhaps Salamanderkit wants a reason to punch a denmate. Not that she typically ever needs a reason, but...well, a reason would be a nice change of pace.

Aspenkit went on a montage about how RiverClan didn't deserve to be invaded and the other clans were pieces of fox-dung- not something she necessarily disagreed with, but her green gaze was disapproving. It softened, however, when Aspenkit apologised. "You're right, many of the cats in this clan have that view. And you're right, ThunderClan and ShadowClan had no right to invade us. Especially ShadowClan. But you can't go around saying that without a filter. Especially when the day comes that you attend a gathering; they are times of peace between clans, and saying something like that will provoke the others. You may want to aggravate them, but StarClan will be angry if you cause the truce to be broken."

Irisfrost glanced at Algaebird as they explained why WindClan decided to attack them. A frown crossed her features as they got Fallownose's name wrong; she had expected every warrior, or even apprentice, would know what he was called. He had been WindClan's deputy for many seasons, and he had come up in many of the clan meetings before RiverClan's exile. Maybe their mind had blanked on it; that was the only reason she could think of. "Fallownose," she corrected them, before turning her head back to Aspenkit. "But Algaebird is right."

They had covered everything, she believed. Talents, high ranks, territories, history and relations. The other lessons seemed to still be ongoing, so it would be best to continue if there was something else to teach. "Is there anything else about the other clans or our history with them that you would like to know?"

Algaebird turned to Irisfrost “Right, Fallownose. My brain can't keep up with my age." They joked but it was true none-the-less. The blue-grey cat thought for a second. “I can't think of anything else either."
