He knew it. Darkfall already had an idea that was the case, however, he couldn’t stop the small twinge of happiness resulting from the confirmation of his suspicions. Some part of him should feel guilty, he knew, that he was excited about Larkfire being on her lonesome, but right now that didn’t matter.
A slight twitch of the whiskers was the only outward reaction he gave in response to her words. Bright blue eyes blinking slowly, he thought about his next words carefully. Well, he could tell the truth of course, but where’s the fun in that? ”I was just… curious. You’ve been all alone with Sleepykit so the question had been on my mind for a while. Ignore it for now,” he mewed, licking a paw before drawing it over his ears - slightly embarrassed. The large tabby had instead chose to tell her parts of the truth so that he wasn’t exactly lying to her.
”I didn’t just drag you out here to harass you about that though. There’s something I wanted to show you,” he said, a more gentle tone than the one he used previously. He had taken note of his companion’s frown and decided he may need to take things in a different direction than they were headed. ”Come with me,” he said, one of his toothy grins accompanying his words. Getting up, he signaled for her to follow with a flick of his tail and began heading to their true destination, sending occasional glances back at the she-cat.
After walking for a bit, Darkfall pushed through a hole covered some overhanging vines and stepped onto a small ledge. The ledge was in a small clearing surrounded by the pine trees that covered the territory. The high hanging moon cast a silvery hue upon the bounty of tall yellow flowers (with some orange and red ones mixed in: black-eyed susans) that were in the clearing. Taking a couple of steps forward, he turned to Larkfire, bright eyes twinkling ”We’re here, this is what I wanted to show you.” The time he had taken to look for this spot had been well worth it, he hoped that the she-cat would appreciate it the same way he did.

Larkfire
She/Her | The Wraith Shadow Fiend & Beefed Up (T1) Purrk
Watching Darkfall from the corner of her eyes, Larkfire couldn't help the pinpricks of sadness tugging at her heart. He was right. Prince was gone, for all she knew. She was all alone. Raising Sleepykit. She didn't know how to raise a kit. Hell, she'd named Sleepykit on a whim, without any thought except how adorable her little daughter had looked, snoozing quietly. All Larkfire knew that she would never let anything happen to her daughter -- and one day, she'd find her lost son again, even if it meant finally facing Fablespinner.
Swallowing roughly, Larkfire turned away when Darkfall's voice softened and lowered, as if he'd caught sight of her distress. His gentle voice caused her heart to tumble and trip over itself, sending an impossible amount of butterflies in her stomach off their perches and straight into the air. Hells, with how queasy she was suddenly feeling, Larkfire could have been pregnant all over again. (Of course though, duh, she wasn't. That was a silly thought... right?)
Shaking herself, the young enforcer drifted back to reality and turned back to her Clanmate as he mentioned for her to follow him. Her breathing hitched at his smile, and Larkfire... well, she was ashamed to say that she probably grimaced on accident at the amount of newfound butterflies flitting rapidly in her belly. A hurricane, really. Staring after Darkfall as he set off, Larkfire had to shake herself all over again and then slink off after him. He kept looking back at her. Why? Was it good? Bad?
...She didn't know.
Opening her maw as Darkfall disappeared behind a wall of overhanging vines, Larkfire readied herself to ask him where he was taking her when she stepped through... and her words died on her tongue. Oh. Forgotten were all the questions she'd had for him, because the young enforcer was now too surprised. Stunned into silence as she gazed around at the clearing he'd led her to. "It's lovely." She breathed softly, amber eyes widening. On cautious paws, Larkfire approached the cluster of tall flowers, taking in the vibrant colors. A tentative, happy smile lit her face. Why? Because it was so... simple. So simple a gesture, to take her someplace just to make her happy, but it was one that no one had ever extended to her before. "I've never... how did you find this?" Whirling back around to face the tom, Larkfire forgot her stoic mask of stone as she waited for a reply, amber hues bright and grin even brighter.

Darkfall, who had anxiously been awaiting the younger enforcer’s reaction released a small sigh of relief when Larkfire expressed her sentiment about the location. The young tom could feel his heart starting to beat faster within his chest when his companion turned to him, a bright smile plastered across her face and amber eyes bright.
She was so beautiful.
Of course, Darkfall had always thought this about the young queen, going back to when they were apprentices. He just… it was like he’d forgotten, like he hadn’t wanted to see it as he distanced himself further and further away from her over the last few moons. That was all in the past now, as he found himself unable to keep from staring as a grin of his own found its way onto his lips.
Blinking slowly, he remembered that she had asked him a question. What was it again? Oh yeah, she was trying to find out how he find the spot. ”It wasn’t easy,” He admitted, as he moved around her (adding a wink as he passed) to slide down the slope of the small cliff into the patch of flowers. Carefully, almost meticulously, he picked out own of the vibrant orange ones, before carefully nipping the length of the stem and grabbing it his mouth. He then hauled himself back up to where Larkfire waited for him before dropping the flower at her paws. ”I spent most of the time after the battle searching for a good spot, and the color of these flowers-“ he gestured to the one he dropped at her paws in particular before smiling ”- reminded me of you. Your beautiful eyes in particular.”
He’d mentioned it to her before, ages ago upon a night like this that the reflection of the stars looked beautiful in her eyes. He probably mentioned how pretty he thought those amber hues were at some other time too, but he couldn’t quite remember at this moment, watching the she-cat was making his heart do backflips and his thoughts become all jumbled together.
The older of the enforcer duo cast his eyes to the sky above for a moment, a low purr rumbling in his throat. He walked around until he was right next to where Larkfire was standing, before sitting down and turning towards her. ”You know Larkfire…” he began in a smooth, rumbling tone ”The stars are extra lovely tonight, I wonder why that is.” His confident grin grew a bit as he recalled having said something similar during their first interaction. Would she notice? Would she figure out what he was trying to do? Oh gosh, he was nervous. The drumming in his chest was steadily growing louder and louder until it was almost deafening as he sat in anticipation.

her bushy feather like fur brushed against the bracken in the territory her new found annoyance trailed behind her. After a few moments she pauses. Listen here I ain’t nice nor do I give others a break. If you want to train under me you will obey by my training regime and shift yours to fit mine. I will not tolerate any funny business, remember we are shadowclan and we are to be feared by others. she pauses to catch her breath. Not only will be be doing a territory tor today but also hunting and bringing the clan food afterwards. wasppaw nodded vigorously as he listened, his dark tabby tail twitching behind him. R-right ma’am! he pipped up. Let’s wait here and see if vulturefang is sending anyone our way.
@Eliaf - send cats our way ^^ I’m fine with anyone
@LostSoldier - if cobweb wants to learn because I saw he was missing hunting
The tom stalks towards the others, until he stops in his steps at the familiar sight of Wasppaw. He comes up to the other cats, and dips his head as a sign of respect to the larger cats. "Hey. I was sent here by Vulturefang." He mews before looking at the warrior. He tries to ignore the presence of Wasppaw, but he looks at the other warrior after a moment.

A slew of chortles and snorts escaped the muscular tom at his companion's words, thoroughly amused. Sir Bits was being silly, of course. Silverlark would never, ever forget about having his first task as an enforcer being with Hawkbite. True, it might have ended peacefully and without much action, but that wasn't always a bad thing, nope! Especially when there were apprentice aged felines involved. It wasn't like he was much older himself - he arguably was still rather apprentice aged as well - but it still didn't sit right with him. Beating up a poor kit just because the grown ups had made bad decisions for them. What was he? A ThunderClanner? Ew. Never.
Turning around to follow the older tom, his tail in the air mirroring his high humors, the silver throated warrior turned to his companion once more, a curious look on his face. The curiosity was soon dissolved, replaced by a cheery, open mouthed grin. More time with Sir Bits? More adventure? Yes please! It's not like he had to go tell Dawnstar that the intruders were gone. He had admittedly left on his own to ensure that they were truly out of the territory. There was no reason to not follow through and make sure in his eyes, but just the same no real reason to bother the leader with no news. She had enough to worry about, he was sure.
"Oooh, yes yes! A hunting race! See who can catch something tasty first, mmmhmmm. Gots any rules you wanna add in for a challenge?" Silverlark asked, verdant eyes glinting with interest as he promptly decided that mixing in both ideas was the best idea, because double the time spent with his fellow enforcer; the younger tom thoroughly lacking the ability to understand that is not quite how things work.
Truth be told, the stocky tom was neither the best hunter nor the fastest. It could be argued he was not the best hunter because he was not the fastest. In his quest for absolute strength, it seemed he had over bulked to the point of - while perhaps still having his reflexes intact - sacrificing some speed. Oops. But that was okay, that was okay! While the young enforcer loved a good spar or a good contest, what he truly loved was pushing himself to the limit. Seeing how far he could go. If he did as good as he could and still lost? Well, that just meant the other cat was awesome, of course, and had to be congratulated! And perhaps he could ask for a pointer or two to improve, heh heh. And asking for pointers from Sir Bits? Always a victory!
Too dangerous? Those big old smelly things? Rushingpaw bet he could take on a pawful of em, at one time with both eyes closed!! A bit of a stretch, but still. You had to admire the spirit, no matter how inexperienced it was, right? Rushingpaw followed after his mentor, his eyes darting left and right, taking in all the scents around him with glee - he almost didn't hear Stormeye's next question,
"What I can smell?" He echoed, pulling from his trance, "Oh! I can smell.. uhm..." The apprentice raised his head slightly, opening his maw to drink in the scents of the forest. WOAH! There was a lot to take in, it was almost intoxicating.. if not slightly overwhelming. A flash of uncertainty behind his eyes gave away that, despite knowing the smell, he couldn't pinpoint anything other than just Shadowclan. So... he would start guessing!
"Uhhmmm..... I can smell, uh, squirrel!" It sounded more like a question than an observation. "And... definitely a frog, somewhere..." Rushingpaw swallowed hard, green eyes lingering over to Stormeyes.
starry ears perked at the sound of approaching steps her cold silver eyes swerved to meet a skittish looking cat. Quite scrawny in her opinion but if vulture sent him her way she would train them none the less. Right, I’m starry’whisper and I presume you already know wasppaw. I’ll be doing a territory tour then hunting practice. Keep in mind our deputy is expecting us to bring prey back so if I were you I’d pay attention to my lessons on hunting. her words were brisk yet firm. Wasppaw in all honesty was hunched over is slight fear of the she cat. He had known how strict and rather harsh this cat could be. But they were also a good source of power and intelligence. If I could get on her good side…then maybe she will keep her promise and continue to train me…that would be so cool!
Flame colored eyes glimmered in admiration as wasppaw listened to his newfound mentor address webby. He shot the other Tom a quick smile of welcome before perking up as starry turned towards him again. As for you…well both of you, I expect after this lesson you’ll both be dragging back at least three pieces of prey each. this wasn’t too much to ask of the younger fellows was it? If she usually brought back three to four pieces herself each time then three would be good for them. This thought process led to her thinking of a black Tom cat with pretty amber eyes. Scorpion. I wonder what he’s doing right now…I bet he’s sleeping. After this I’ll ask him if he wants to share something to eat.
The apprentice nods his head before looking at the two cats. "I am fine with that." He mews before looking behind him, in case other cats decide to sneak up on him. He hesitates. "Darkfall hasn't taught me hunting yet." He mews after a moment.
He pounces claws at the ready. He hits the rabbit and bites down on its spine. Crushing it easily.
Turning back towards Starry, he smiles. "I caumth itmh!" He says proudly, before clearing his throat and looking at Starry. "Wanna catch something else or head back to camp."
As she watched the other warrior land a catch her silver eyes gleamed with pride. Sitting up from her crouch she padded over with an approving nod. See? I knew you could so it scorpion! All it took was another try! she mewed playfully. At the sound of catching more prey she hesitated. Only if you want to? We should be careful though if we do. Foxes are known to be out more at night and it wouldn’t surprise me to see one passing though shadowclan territory. with a light flick of her tail the lean warrior pondered on what to do. If we head back now…then my time with him will be cut short unless he wants to go for a small walk…hey…how about we drop the rabbit off by the crow and go for a walk? On the way back we can pick them up.
