Defense Moves Training{private}

The white tom padded into the meadow that he had taken his apprentice the first trip, thinking it would be a nice place to do some more training. It was quiet and there were no cats distracting them. Cottonstrike turned to his apprentice. "Today I've decided to show you a defense move.", he meowed.

Flicking her tail as she bounced into the clearing, Echopaw smiled. She had grown a bit more since their last training session, and felt she would have a good chance of beating him. Plus, this was their first battle training session! She couldn't wait to start! Echopaw nodded cheerfully. "A defense move? Good idea! But Fawn-guy needs to learn defense!"

He loved her enthusiasm and it reminded him of himself when he was an apprentice. "Defense moves is good for every cat no matter what rank they are.", he meowed. Cottonstrike knew how much use defensive moves were. "In this move we'll be using your small frame.", he meowed.

Echopaw smiled happily at Cotton-guy. THEY WERE FRIENDS. EVERYONE WAS HER FRIEND. ESPECIALLY FAWN-GUY. "Okay! Even Fawn-guy's?" Echopaw chirped. "I have a small frame! Is that good? Is that bad? Is that okay? Are you mad? It's not my fault!"

Cottonstrike looked at his apprentice as she spoke so he could get what she was saying. "Being small isn't a bad thing and plus soon you'll be bigger. Being small means you have the upperpaw.", he meowed, softly. Small cats could easily slip underneath a much bigger cat as long as they were fast ad quick.

Echopaw sat down with excitement. She twitched her tail happily. "Oh, okay, great, thanks, and?" she meowed. "Ooh. Upperpaw. Who's Upperpaw? I'm Echopaw, and you're Cotton-guy, right? RIGHT?" The fluffy apprentice widened her eyes excitedly at Cotton-guy.

Cottonstrike let out a chuckle at her words. "underpaw means you got the better of someone.", he meowed, trying to find the words to explain. He thought that was the best option. Now he was just ready to start. He was anxious to see how well she would do. "Okay despite that I'm going to teach you the tuck move to dodge your opponent and maybe show you my signature move.", Cottonstrike added.

Echopaw smiled cheerfully at Cotton-guy. Well, she did basically everything cheerfully. "Ah, okay. Thanks for-for clarifying that!" She sat up, proud of her new word. "Alright. The tuck move? Sounds....GREAT! Your...signature move?" She was learning so many new words! How fun! "Is the tuck move like rolling around?" Echopaw asked happily.

Cottonstrike smiled. "Well not exactly. When a cat attacks you it's a good way to get past them easily. It's a well known move in all clans.", he meowed. The tom let all of that sink in. "Okay so I'll demonstrate it first. I want you to aim a blow at me. Make sure to keep your claws sheathed.", Cottonstrike meowed.
