Re: no man's land [semi-open]
[ alright since it's been over a week since i bumped dirt.... ]
As excited as Lionstar was to get rid of Sunkit once and for all, he wasn't stupid.
Dirtfur had done very little upon being reintroduced to his son. It was almost like he wasn't even there! .. And as much as he disliked the stupid overgrown baby, he didn't desire to see him die from neglect.
"Look, Sunkit." Lionstar jabbed his paw harshly at Dirtfur's direction. "You have no idea how much I'd love to dump you on your father and call it a day, but his seeming lack of interest in you is killing my desire to do so.
".. So, I'm going to give you a choice, since you're a big..ger boy now. You can go with Dirtfur and be an outsider with dear old dad. You'll be stripped of your Clan status, of course.. and not allowed back until you've matured and come to your senses.
"Or, you can remain in RiverClan. But I want you to drop the 'woe is me, Lionstar's so evillllll' act because frankly, it's tiring. It's stupid. I know you have the capacity for intelligence and I know in time you could make a good warrior, but you're not going to get anywhere chasing after this layabout's shadow." He scrunched his nose at Dirtfur's direction. "Take a leaf out of Sparrowpaw's tree, for Star's sake." Despite his early grievances, Sparrowpaw had been doing fairly well in his new role. "Look at your father for a moment, Sunkit. Is this who you want to model your life after? He hasn't even acknowledged you."
If that didn't get his cogs turning, maybe Sunkit wasn't worth Lionstar's efforts.
"Decide now." Or Lionstar would pick for him, and he likely wouldn't appreciate it.

Re: no man's land [semi-open]
So this is why Lionstar kept him in the nursery for so long, to dump him on his father because he spoke against the Riverclan leader? Well it did make sense. Casting his eyes upon the outsider Sunkit took a long look at the tom he once called father. "I stood up for you when no one else did. I told everyone that what they said about you was wrong." The fiery tom furrowed his invisible eyebrows at Dirt with his ocean eyes narrowing. "I called Lionstar a liar and that he spread rumors about you. I had my apprentice ceremony delayed because I stood up for you! And all you can do is sit there on your ass and not even say hello?" Sunkit could have been an apprentice by now! But he was still a kit because he believed in his father.
What a fool I am...
The fiery tom stepped a few paw-steps back. There was no way in hell he was going to end up like him. Shaking his head and turning to Lionstar the tom felt ashamed for building up so much anger and hate towards the wrong cat. "I stopped that 'woe me' act a long time ago because of something Firehawk said to me." Ocean blue eyes meeting amber. "I'm sorry that I called you a liar. I want to stay in Riverclan." With that the tom moved closer to Fawnsqueak and Lionstar, obviously showing where his loyalty was now.

Re: no man's land [semi-open]
Somehow, watching this breakdown of Sunkit's perception of Dirtfur was more satisfying than.. kicking him to Dirtfur's custody would ever be. It was a wake up call, one that Sunkit wouldn't forget anytime soon.
How awful, in every sense of the word, Dirtfur was.
Once Sunkit had said his piece, Lionstar spoke, smoldering gaze on the disappointment that was once his deputy. "I want you to get out of my territory, Dirtfur, and never return. Time has done little to improve your behavior and.. frankly your refusal to greet your own son is despicable." Talk about being on the list of 'world's worst dads!'
To Sunkit, he was gentler as he swished his tail over his back. He didn't know what Firehawk said, didn't really care. The important thing right now is Sunkit's eyes were finally open. And.. Lionstar was stupidly proud? of this dumb baby? Well, he couldn't really call him a baby anymore when he was long past his apprentice ceremony.. "Why don't you get some rest?" Lionstar offered to him with a small smile. "I think you're ready for your apprentice ceremony in the morning."
