he trotted out behind the others. hunting! yayayaya! "nope! no clue how to hunt! so... hullo mister rookster!" he shut his maw quickly. no one else was talking. what a shaaaame! he liked talking. anyway! something new to learn! yay! he watched rookfire carefully, mimicking his crouch and watching as the former medic caught soooo much prey! he would have to help carry some!
sleekpaw turn to try and catch some prey of his own, [rolled a 7...] ooooh that was a mouse, wasnt it?? he crept closer, and closer, until he leapt... a moment too late, because the rodent saw him and scurried into a rock crevice. awww man! better luck next time. [rolled a 20!] he pouted but continued on, RABBIT!! OOOH it was BIG! he snuck closer, and leapt earlier this time, he learned from his mistake!! he landed on its back, a soft tussle later, he managed to bite its neck, and he returned to rookfire, a small cut on his chest. did sleekpaw not notice it??? he was too excited to show mister rook what he caught!
Reply lengths/time depends purely on my motivation, please be patient as I have Dysgraphia and ADHD, and tend to forget things!! if i label a thread or post as [open], feel free to reply to it!

Oh, how calm the pines cold be. A chill hung over the roots of the forest, marked only by a light fog that seemed to cling onto the dense layer of pine needles. The cool air lingered on the large tabby's pelt as she followed her sibling into the forest, trying to catch up to him before reaching their usual hunting grounds.
What a day it was! She could feel the pine needle carpet beneath her paws, soft and springy compared to how icy and sharp it usually was. Perhaps these were the first signs of newleaf. It was still cold, but at least everything wasn't covered in a thick layer of ice. It was hard to tell what the sky looked like from all the way down on the ground, the dense canopy only further darkening the territory under dense cloud cover.
But, Mosstangle hadn't time for taking in her surroundings. She put on another bursy of speed, if only to try to catch up to her brother.

Aldersnarl finally slowed down, looking back behind him for his sister, beaming. His eyes alight as he slowed himself to a stand-still. The muscular tabby shook his wind-struck pelt, grinning.

Mosstangle finally caught up to Aldersnarl, panting but trying to suppress it to look a little less beaten. She puffed out her chest and huffed. "Doesn't count. You got a head start." She grinned back at him and shook out her pelt.
She looked around, sniffing the air. With the late afternoon came quite a few animals awake and alert, though it was still leafbare. "Alright, best two out of three catches?" She smirked.

grey eyes darting over to the calico apprentice, he frowned at the nickname. "thats rookfire for you." he snapped lowly before moving on to do his hunting, they could take time later on to pay attention to sleekpaws training. for now, they could watch. "watch for now" the warrior ordered, dropping into a hunters crouch and going about his hunt.
at some point, the apprentice appeared to try for himself, which rookfire honoured with a nod. to nobodys surprise, their first attempt was a fluke, the second though.. he must say, he was sort of impressed by the attempt. "good work. lets go over ah proper technique" signalling them to drop and hide the prey for safe keeping. "hunters crouch, youve seen it already but the most important aspect of it is silence and minimising visibility. keep ye tail off the floor, soft steps. some prey can feel yourr movement.. once youre close enough, you propell yourself forward, pinning the prey before delivering a killing bite. minimise noise. try again now"

How many times had he worked with this apprentice and he always forgot they were blind? It took up until Wispypaw was out and about on their own before he connected the dots and boy, did he feel stupid. With a sigh a smack to his own face with his paw, Hawkbite would prowl off to search for his own prey.
It wasn't long before he'd pounce, landing on a mouse and burying. The process was repeated for another mouse and lastly, he'd prowl further before his eyes settled on a wren. His tail flicked a couple times, the bird being a bittersweet memory of happier times for the Commander, but that wouldn't stop him from darting forward and snatching it up in his jaws. When he was content with his prey, he'd pad back to where he saw Wispypaw last and gave them a chirp of approval before heading back towards the patrol's meeting point.
"We can head back whenever everyone's ready," Hawkbite spoke to Wispypaw and whomever else was here already. Once everyone would return, he'd begin leading them back to camp.
Mudburr let the wind blow through his prickly brown fur, before dipping his head at the apprentice. His suspicions hadn't been settled.
"I trust she told you not to cross it," he meowed, "because no good ever comes from other clans." Even with his mind still ticking away, Mudburr decided to drop the interrogating, for now. It didn't seem like the apprentice needed it, just some better education.
"What was it you needed to do out here anyway, Berrypaw?"
rookfire perked up at hawkbites voice carrying over, obscured slightly by the undergrowth around them. it seemed the other two had finished hunting earlier than their hunting lesson had. he glanced at his apprentice again, one piece of prey would do for now, he himself had had enough time to hunt to make up for the both of them anyway. "we'll head back, get your prey" the warrior trotted over to his buried prey, shaking the moss and soil off it roughly before giving sleekpaw and nod and swish of his tail, signalling for them to follow. taking the most direct way back to the group, he broke through the undergrowth, thorns scraping through his thick fur and along his skin. "ready" rook muttered, muffled by the prey held securely between his jaws.

”Actually no specific reason but mostly just to get out of the noisy camp.” He Said camly. He felt a bit wierd talking about evrything but he dident know why. @Cloverspring

A huff left the elder's nose at that comment, but his face remained apathetic. Was that the semblance of a laugh? No, Mudburr never laughed. Maybe it was better described as the echo of one, from the husk of what should have been a cat.
"They talk plenty." He agreed. Looking away from Windclan and back into their own territory. "Come. We'll take the long path back." He urged. The elder turned back towards the darkness and lead the trot, back into the comforting strangle of Shadowclan's towering pine.
