Bluestrike stood up from the patch of grass he was comfortably lying on, his legs wobbly and head dizzy. His mind spun with quite happy and exciting thoughts, and there was only one other thing he needed for a perfect day. His brother.

Quickmoon was sitting a little (well, three-fox-lengths and behind a tree) away, looking up at the sky. He had always loved the sky. It was calming. He glanced up as he saw his brother, Bluestrike, making his way over.

"Hey," Quickmoon meowed, shifting his gaze back to the sky.

Bluestrike jolted out of his thoughts, startled to see, well, just what he was hoping to see. His ears perked at his younger brother's words, nuzzling him affectionately. Quickmoon! He exclaimed, happily searching his brother's eyes, which had flicked up to the sky.

Quickmoon let an amused smile slip on his face, nuzzling Bluestrike back. He loved his older brother and it was nice to see him. He tore his gaze away from the sky, looking back at Bluestrike.

"What are you doing here?" he asked, hoping he seemed polite and not rude.

Bluestrike purred. His apprentice, Bouncepaw, was so close to becoming a warrior. He was so proud, not only of himself, but of his apprentice. I was resting. He meowed, a lopsided grin appearing on his face. My apprentice is a handful!

Quickmoon let out a mrrow of laughter, having met Bouncepaw once. He could easily understand if they were a handful. He was still a little young to have an apprentice, but he looked forward to getting one.

"How are you doing?" He asked, shifting his body to lean against his older brother.

Me? Bluestrike laughed, looking his brother in the eyes. I'm fine. Living the best life! He joked, flicking his tail. But what about you? This time, he was very serious. He only wanted the best for his brother.

"I'm... Good, I guess." Quickmoon mewed, his tail twitching slightly. "I led my first patrol recently which was nice. One of the warriors who was supposed to be with me left though."

The patrol really wasn't that bad. Hollypaw was nice company, and he never really liked Blueclaw. Other than the patrol, he'd just been feeling lonely and... empty. He wasn't sure how to tell Bluestrike this, so he just stayed silent.

Bluestrike nodded encouragingly. Led your first patrol? He mewed, his eyes gleaming with excitement. That's great! He exclaimed, tilting his head. Who was on it? Bluestrike asked, flexing his claws.

"Hollypaw and Blueclaw. Blueclaw was the one who left." he replied, shaking off (figuratively) the feeling in his head. The empty one, the one with the little voice saying, 'no wonder Blueclaw left. look at you.' He had to stop thinking like that. It wasn't helping. It needed to stop. Why didn't it stop?

In order to slow his thoughts that were racing by, Quickmoon did the 'frog blink'. He would blink one eye, then the other, very slowly.
