stonepaw, she/her, 7 moons

As the sky darkened and the chill in the air got even colder, Stonepaw slinked into the apprentice's den to claim an unoccupied bed. It definitely smelled different from the nursery, but since this would be her home for the next few moons, she'd have to get used to having so many older roommates. She tentatively sniffed the nests to check if they'd be slept in recently, and eventually settled for one closest to the back, visibly old but still comfortable. This way she wouldn't get stepped on when everyone was waking up.
But who were the cats sleeping next to her? Would they mind her moving in? Stonepaw looked to the bed closest to hers, walking over and checking that, yes, someone had definitely slept here last night. The moon was already out, so cats would probably start coming in soon... would she meet her neighbor then?

A yawn stretched his maw as Riftpaw shouldered his way back into the apprentice’s den. Paws padded lightly past the other nest as he made his way to his own. Hmm? Oh, there was someone else here. Eyes adjusting slightly to the darkness of the den, icy blue eyes blinked at Stonepaw. He had seen her get apprenticed, but had yet to speak with her.
”Hello.” He mewed with a dip of his head, settling into his nest next to hers. Well, looks like they’d be neighbors…maybe this would be good for his conversation practice Brokenstream was always nagging him about. ”You’re Stonepaw, right? Welcome.”

Even though she had just thought that more cats would be coming in soon, Stonepaw practically jumped out of her fur as she heard someone yawn behind her. She turned around, eyes wide, gaze meeting the black and brown-furred apprentice’s.
“Ah… h-hi,” she meowed with a warble in her voice, watching as he settled into the nest she was just inspecting. Realizing that she looked and sounded a bit too shocked for no real reason, Stonepaw quickly schooled her expression into a neutral one, like how she imagined more mature apprentices looking in her head. “I mean, hello. Yes. That’s me.”
Feeling awkward that she was still standing, Stonepaw quickly got into her own nest too. It was a little earlier for sleep than she was planning, but she did feel pretty tired from doing everything today… even if she didn’t really do anything. Sometimes, even taking a lap or two around camp could make her want to crawl back into bed.
Stonepaw stared down at her paws as she said a soft “thank you,” since the warm welcome really did mean a lot to her. Now that she felt less startled, Stonepaw remembered that this cat was named Riftpaw, an apprentice about two moons older than her. Though she couldn’t remember them ever speaking before, Riftpaw seemed so cool and grown-up. He even gave her a nod when he said hello! Like the warriors did when they were being respectful with eachother. She kind of wanted to talk more with him... not that she had any conversation starters. Maybe he'd say something first. Hopefully.
