Slypaw padded out from behind the warrior's den. He gave one last glare behind him before turning to his mentor. "Sorry for bein' late" he said, putting on a smile. "A... Family matter came up, but I took care of it". He winced slightly at the pause. You can do better than that Slypaw he scolded himself internally

Acornfall could practically sense Briarmask's presence near him above everything else. But he forced his focus on Chasmpaw's response. He opened his mouth and was about to say that maybe she should go back when Slypaw approached. Acornfall could feel his eyes narrow slightly, tail tip flicking from side-to-side. The brown tabby decided he'd keep an eye on things for now rather than jump to any kind of conclusion. "It's okay, Slypaw." He meowed, keeping his tone reassuring.

"Alright all, who's ready?!" Acornfall shouted excitedly, sweeping his tail to gather his patrol. Stars this was a full party! Acornfall set out to lead his tour patrol, glancing behind him to keep tabs on his apprentices, but also Briarmask. "We'll start with the borders alright? Let's get out blood pumping!" He mewed loudly, picking up the pace of his patrol to a steady bounding step. Trying to keep his mind focused as they approached Herondive Hollow. Acornfall paused near the ThunderClan side of the border and turned, facing his patrolmates and his apprentices. "This is Herondive Hollow, our ShadowClan border." He explained, waving his tail at the line of trees that stopped at the gorge.

"Learn this scent well. I know it's rather unpleasant," he wrinkled his nose as he spoke, "but it's important to learn the scents of the other clans." He angled his ear behind him. "Hunting here isn't ideal. And I'd rather not take y'all over the tree bridge to mark this border. So if it's okay with all here, I'd rather move on to the next border and show you how to mark borders there." He meowed, glancing at his patrolmates before resting his eyes on his apprentices. "Any questions?"

Nightwhisper nodded. Following the Tom in an eery silence that only those close to him would call normal. Nightwhisper looked at Acornfall. Nodding slightly as he heard his best friend lecturing his apprentices. Nightwhisper looked at Slypaw and decided to answer the apprentice half dumb question. "They think we smell like dung to. Different cat scents different enviroments." The blck furred Tom added in a gruff tone, "Different levels of loyalty" Nightwhisper had held a grudge against Windclan and Riverclan ever sense the battle. Riverclan had killed his mates beloved sister, and Windclan had a certain Tom he'd get his claws on one day. Nightwhisper flicked his tail once as he noticed Acornfalls look. Rasing a cat brow he mewed. "Acornfall...?" Nightwhispers tone softened ever so slightly as he placed his jet black tail on his friends shoulder and gave him a questioning. "Are you ok" look.

Briarmask may be low-key freaking out. Of course, she may look as if she's constipated, but she's really just very uncomfortable being near so many cats. What does she even do? Is she expected to teach? What would she even say? Wasn't Acornfall the one who the apprentices needed to teach them? Would he feel like she's over-stepping her boundaries? Or is she supposed to be making small talk with him right now? That would probably be distracting if he's leading a tour, right? Starclan, her brain is shutting down from all these questions! She can't even answer them herself.
A small squeak escapes her lips as a realization comes to light, which leaves her momentarily paralyzed from embarrassment before she shakes it off and notices she stopped walking. So she swiftly pads after the group, refusing to actually run, as that would only draw more attention to herself. When she catches up, she proceeds to fall in line with Acornfall, her face pointed in the direction of her own paws.

"Hey, Acornfall..." She mumbles, taking a deep breath and adjusting the volume of her voice, "Am... w-what should I-I be doing? T-teaching? Because I don't know how... and- and I don't know if y-you are b-b-busy, but... and I-I'm much too awkward for my own g-g-good... I also d-don't know how to- how to interact w-with younger cats... uh- BUT ANYWAY...!"

Oh gosh, that last part was loud. It seems she was carried away in her rambling and yelled without meaning to, of course she didn't mean to. She never means to do anything bold or obnoxious, hopefully she didn't hurt him, she yelled right in his ear-

"Oh my- Starclan- a-ah, I'm so sorry! Did that hurt?" She splutters, her eyes wide and her face impossibly red, "I-I'll just shut up... Starclan, why am I such a bother? But what I was meaning to say, well, actually nevermind! I- I'll just get out of your way, tell me if you get a headache, when we get back to camp I'll accompany you to the medicine den... or not. You don't have to go with me, I'm sure you're able t-to go by yourself just fine, y-you're perfectly c-c-capable I'm sure... I-I'll just stop talking n-now, I'm s-sure I'm just escalating t-t-things, I'm sorry again!"

She turns to pad to the back of the group, her expression a mix of mortification and guilt, tail trailing along the ground as she takes a few steps forward. Just focus on the patrol Briar, stop causing problems!

Chasmpaw hadn't said anything, but maybe she didn't have any questions. He opened his mouth to answer Slypaw's question, but nodded at Nightwhisper's answer. "Exactly. It's hard to imagine, but just as their scent seems foul to us, our's must seem just as bad to them." He meowed with a toothy grin. "Personally, I think it's the pine needles though. It's such a...potent scent." He couldn't help but wrinkle his nose at the thought. "Serves as a good reminder of where the border is though right! If you hate it so much, you'll never trespass accidentally." He added with a playful wink.

While Acornfall didn't really agree with Nightwhisper's grudge, he didn't dispute either. He wasn't as...hardcore as his sister Mothflame was about loyalties. But he'd have to admit if asked, he didn't trust cats from outside the clan. He waved his tail to gather his patrol. "Onward!" He turned and padded off in the lead, heading to RiverClan now. He blinked as Nightwhisper asked him if he was okay, slightly confused. He nodded, assuming his friend was referring to his demeanor change earlier. Surely he's not referring to Briarmask... He assumed. "I'm just...a little worried about something." He murmured, for his friend's ears only. His eyes glancing backwards at Slypaw. He had a bad feeling he couldn't place...but he knew he'd figure it out eventually.

Then, everything in mind was broken as Briarmask pulled up next to him. It felt like his brain was filled with static and rabbit fluff. He barely had a chance to formulate a response in his head, but quickly [scrambled to] gathered himself. "O-Oh I'm sorry! I didn't want you to be uncomfortable." He murmured back, looking at her before turning his gaze back on his path. "I just...you're one of the first cats I thought of bringi-" And then she practically verbally exploded. Acornfall couldn't suppress a flinch, blinking at Briarmask before breaking out into a hearty laugh. Just like that, all of the tension was gone from him. His body language relaxed. "'S gonna take more than that to send me to the medicine cat, sorry to say." He purred, flicking her ear with the tip of his tail in hopes of easing her tension.

"Don't worry about it, Briarmask. I'm handling the bulk of the teaching." He meowed reassuring, smiling at her. "But uh...you can walk next to me if you...want to." He added bashfully, turning away before she could see the embarrassment on his face. Though he did bring his steps closer to her's, allowing their pelts to brush slightly. His attention was snatched back to the tour as he caught the scent and sound of the border. This will be a good spot. Instinctively, he turned to touch his nose to Briarmask's cheek to let her know he was going to step forward, and bounded forward. Climbing onto the trunk of a fallen tree. "Chasmpaw, Slypaw! This is our border with RiverClan." He bellowed from his perch, waving his tail to indicate the thinning line of pine trees that gave way to the clearing and the river. "This border is another hard one to miss." He commented with a grin.

Leaping down, he lead the patrol up to the border, flicking his tail for Chasmpaw and Slypaw to step forward. "This border is a little easier to mark. So we're going to show you what to do. You practice." He instructed. "But be sure not to over mark. No need to start a border dispute." He warned, narrowing his eyes in a warning, before also glancing at Nightwhisper. He knew of Nightwhisper's feelings regarding the battle, and just wanted to gently remind his friend of their orders regarding this border. Acornfall demonstrated to the apprentice's how they can mark the border, turning to face them again. "Now you try! The others will check the border as well. Be careful." He warned again. "After this maybe we'll take a break to hunt." He added with a grin, figuring that might light a metaphorical fire under his apprentice's tails
