Windpaw's look of surprise was instantly wiped away and replaced by concern. Her ears drooped slightly at the other apprentice's stutter and apology, moving closer to him and hovering her tail over him in an attempt to comfort him.

"Hey, hey, don't worry 'bout it! I'm not hurt, and you're not hurt. That's good. You don't need to apologise about something that's not your fault!" Windpaw gave him a warm smile, dual coloured eyes twinkling. Aaaaaaand oh no, what had she done? He was going to cry. Uh oh. Feeling a slight wave of panic wash over her, Windpaw gently ran her tail along the other apprentice's back. "It's okay! No need to worry about it! Hey, on the bright side, you bumping into me made us meeting happen!" She paused between her words, not wanting to ramble and overwhelm the already tense cat. "Ok, hmm.. Let's start simple. I'm Windpaw, you?"

Cottonpaw’s ears slowly began to soften as this cat ensured that he was indeed okay. But that she was too, he hadn’t hurt her, or upset her and that felt good. It rang true, this meeting wouldn’t have happened unless his clumsy self bumped into her. Windpaw, a nice name, reminded him of the clan wholeheartedly.

”I..i’m Cottonpaw, it’s n..nice to meet you!” His stuttering began to ease off slightly as he realised he’d be okay. His stub of a tail still nervously wiggling, an involuntary habit of his own. He was glad he didn’t have a long one, it would end up thrashing all over the place.

”I..I wasn’t quite looking where I was going, c..chasing after a butterfly”, his head swivelled looked through the den but it seemed to have made its escape now. His lips turned upwards with a sheepish smile thinking about its beautiful colours, he wasn’t going to ever catch it and hurt it. Maybe just look at it for a while.
