"Elders! It's me!!" It's been a while since Maggotpaw had come to check on them, and it bristles at the thought, feeling almost...almost....what? What is the feeling, when you hurt for someone else?
Maggotpaw doesn't find the answer because the painful twinge doesn't linger long, but it knows it hates it. That feeling, of course—not the elders (never the elders) who must have somehow caused it.
The scruffy white cat marches in, looking thoughtful. It's been waking up shivering each morning, so it can only assume that the elders must be having a similar struggle. Elders are fragile things, Maggotpaw knows. They hurt and they itch and they stink and they shiver, and they need help with all of those things.
"Elders, do you hurt? Do you itch? I can help. Is your den warm enough? If it isn't I will make everybody make you warm, okay? Everybody." After seeing how easily the clan had been organized and mobilized (with a few exceptions) during the fires, Maggotpaw's wondered about what else everyone could be ordered up to do. Warriors! Make these old-cats warm and happy and safe at once! Maybe it could shout that, or it could make some other more important cat shout that, and the task would be handled with the same dedication that those fires had been snuffed out with.
A curious thought.
In the meantime, though, it is only Maggotpaw here, peering wide-eyed around the den, taking note of what all it might be able to help with on its own today.

[ responses aren't required if you don't feel up to it, maggot is just checking in once more ]
Fidgetberry looked up from where she was trying to get a tick at the base of her tail.
“‘Ello Maggotpaw,” The brown elder meowed, “as a matter of fact, I do have a tick stick in my fur, right here.”
She pointed to the spot where the tick was.

Duckthroat looked up at the chatter and smiled “Hey kiddo, how’s it goin” he stood shakily up his health was slowly declining but he hid it the best he could and padded over “I don’t need much just someone to chat too”
"A tick has your tail?" Maggotpaw's ugly little face softens with sympathy for poor Fidgetberry's plight. It's so unfair, to be so slow and old and weak that bugs always want to come and eat you. "I will fix this okay? It won't have you for forever." They'd need to get that tick-stuff from Lightningstorm, but in the meantime Maggotpaw fixes its very meanest glare right at the base of Fidgetberry's tail, as if it might scare the ugly little fiend bothering her right out of her fur.
As their eyes move to Duckthroat, that nasty grimace washes right off. Maggotpaw chirps wordlessly, wandering over to butt their litte head against the elder's shoulder—softy, of course, because Duckthroat walks very carefully and doesn't need other cats messing with that.
"It's good. I am being a good apprentice." It lies as cheerfully as ever. "My friends are apprentices now, too. Which is sad because that means they're not Fallenkit and Maplekit anymore. They have to be Fallenpaw and Maplepaw. But also it means we can all go outside together, which hasn't happened yet but it will. You guys should come with us too. Maybe when it isn't cold anymore. I hate it being cold!" Maggotpaw happily chatters away, weaving back toward Fidgetberry to give her a friendly head-bump, as well. "I'll go and get the tick stuff, okay?"

Fidgetberry nodded to the apprentice and settled down in her nest.
