everyone was busy, stars above. everyone but sleepysunrise, seriously? no matter. an assessment was an assessment.

"hey sleepysunrise can you assess me so i can be a warrior, please?" she tried to be polite.. hopefully successfully, but she'd have to see. not literally see, but... metaphorically see.

Her eyes were narrowed in perplexed thought, silently judging the apprentice's demeanour in this request. Their last once-over had concluded Duskpaw needed to get to training, and now she was assessment-ready? This had to mean the apprentice heeded her words and had gotten to work, and even if Sleepysunrise was not all too close with her cousin, she wouldn't turn down any possible training.

She waved her tail across the apprentice's nose to gain her attention, a subtle sign Duskpaw needed to followed as the enforcer guided them into the territory. Her whiskers twitched observing Duskpaw from her side.
"Hunt."
She ordered first off, deciding they would move on to battle training afterwards, as she always did.

her nose twitched in mild annoyance as her cousin's tail brushed over it. no matter, as long as she were to be a warrior, she would bear it. and so, she followed the enforcer, a small dip of her head acknowledged sleepysunrise's words.

"Hunt."

a simple instruction, a basic command. easy to follow, right?

[duskpaw has rolled an 8!]

ears pricked, her pawsteps silent, she listened, scented the air, searching. until a mouse's scent drifted on the air towards her.

slowly, but surely, she crept towards the creature, pawstep after pawstep, she waited, quietly listening for an opening... until she found one. getting ready to leap. one heartbeat... two... she lunged for the rodent, narrowly missing it as it let out a soft squeak of alarm whilst it began to dart off.

[duskpaw rolled a 19! (redemption!)]

acting quickly, her paw shot at the mouse, pinning it down before quickly snapping it's neck. turning back toward her cousin, duskpaw inquired; "would you like me to catch more or are we gonna move onto the next part?" an honest question, and yet so dull.

Sleepysunrise regarded the apprentice in question, and the mouse she had caught. Normally the apprentices returned with a little more prey and they could move on to the next part swiftly, but given Duskpaw had nearly failed to catch the mouse, Sleepysunrise felt it wasn’t the right time to move on.
“Again.”
She told Duskpaw in a dull tone, gaze ever so unblinking as it was. The apprentice had to be able to do better than this, and the enforcer wanted to see at least one more actually clean catch. This is why she made hunting a part of the assessments, even if it wasn’t usual for ShadowClan (or so she heard); they couldn’t have cats unable to hunt become warriors.
