Snapjaw padded into camp, her eyes dull and tired. She hadn't slept well since the loss of the rest of her family, which was bad in the sense that she had duties to take care of, and on top of that, had just been assigned her first apprentice.

She felt like she was a candle, lit at both ends, and it was only a matter of time before eventually the she-cat was burnt out. She took a deep breath, trying to ground and center herself, but was struggling.

Thoughts of how it should have been her and not her sister, or none of them if she was being completely honest. The battle felt petty and pointless now, especially with the loss it caused. The Riverclan she-cat's gaze locked onto her paws as more and more thoughts swirled in her mind.

If Snap hadn't suggested hunting along that border would any of this have happened? Would Cedar still be here? Would her brother have run away still? Would her whole family have been torn apart if she'd just decided to hunt somewhere else?

The mostly white she took notice of snapjaw, It wasn't really her place to worry, But the small she tends to worry about the clan a lot, including the cats in it. The cat was pretty big. But even the big fellows need comfort occasionally. Then she makes it her duty to help the other. She pads over to Snapjaw with a soft smile " Hey there, you look quite down." she spoke as she approached she offered a soft smile to the fellow warrior.

The She's light grey paws dig in the dirt as if trying to ground herself, she's a very anxious lady. Her yellow gaze flickers to the ground below at her paws as well before looking back at the other warrior. She wasn't one to pry but it still bothered her seeing a cat so down in the dumps. Not in a bad way but made her wanna help.

She looks away after studying the cat for a moment and results back to looking at the ground. " May I ask what's wrong?" She mews.

Snapjaw glanced up from the ground to the shorter she-cat. Her hazel eyes narrowed as she scanned her clanmate slowly. She'd seen this cat around a couple of times, though Snap was never around much so she had never had any time to speak to her.

hey there, you look quite down yeah. Probably. She thought to herself, still looking down at Lilyglide through narrowed eyes. After a quiet pause, she let out a soft sigh. She glanced down at her paws once more, being cold to this cat wouldn't fix anything, she seemed to be showing genuine concern. It was sort of sweet actually, and unbeknownst to Snapjaw, very much needed.

The riverclan warrior took a breath before speaking "I lost my sister in a battle with rogues a couple of moons back... We were ambushed by rogues, when she got knocked out then thrown into the river-" She choked on her word, forcing her to stop. Damn it! you will NOT cry.

She breathed in deeply through her nose, exhaling through her teeth as she tried to ground and calm herself. After she'd calmed down enough to speak properly "I never found her and I haven't... really... known what to do with myself other than burying myself in my duties" she said, her gaze remained fixed to the same spot on the ground.

she remains calm, she wants to be helpful, she fails to do that a lot sometimes, But she does her best to listen, as the cat speaks her yellow eyes soften until she lets out a gentle sigh.

"An ambush." she sighed shaking her head " I have never had to deal with losing someone so close to me but if I did.." her eyes showed great empathy, as she imagined how it would feel "I would probably blame myself." she mews " even if it was not my fault.. or I'd wanna die with them." she mews softly.

she smiles softly looking over " You were recently given an apprentice, right? Maybe focus on training them. That's how I handle my anxiety. " she mews, she knew that was nowhere near grief. grief takes time to get over.

"Grief is hard to overcome when it comes to cats who you love." she mews "But it can be done with time .. even if it seems impossible. " she smiles, she's trying, but she's not good at it.

The Riverclan warrior flinched at her next words. She knew Lilyglide meant no harm, but the words caused the she-cat's pelt to bristle a bit. She did her best to hide it as she swallowed the feelings, she was probably just overreacting anyways "Yeah I uh- I did... wish that, I wish I'd died instead" She said with a dry laugh, looking down at her paws.

The next attempt was another swing and a miss "Yeah, Salamanderpaw, I haven't seen or heard from her at all since she was assigned to me" She said with a sigh, looking towards Lilyglide, a hint of amusement flashed in the warrior's eyes. Watching her clanmate flounder was kind of cute in a way. Lily seemed to be a sweet cat, that was undeniable.

Snapjaw nodded slowly "I... know time can heal and all that other... stuff" She motioned with her paw to emphasize the lack of importance of the 'stuff'. She furrowed her brows before continuing "but... I don't know... It's still so fresh and still in my mind- I should have noticed- I should have been able to do something" She said, her gaze falling to rest on Lilyglide's front paws.

"That's a normal feeling." she mews, trying to be as understanding as she can be. "when you lose someone you're close to... you make yourself believe you could have done something different when in reality, it couldn't have been helped." she purred softly. Her yellow gaze flickers over to the warrior, she smiles softly, her paws are fidgety, at least her front ones, and she keeps moving them side to side while she sits.

"Losing something I care about.. that sounds horrible because then you're forever haunted." she mews. her eyes gaze at the ground. gently nudging the other "How about we do something to take your mind off it, hunting, a walk maybe?" she's trying to help.
