that's...right, yeah, squirrelrise reasons as she looks at irispaw. "yes that's..right. you might...also s-smell..heather." she meows, brows twitching as she hums. "though...considering t-the..winds..s-scents do..get..muddled." all the scents typically got mixed up together, so it was hard to pinpoint anything specific. with a nod, she gestures for her apprentice to follow after her once more.

her fur bristles as they approach saltmeadow marsh next, unease etched on her face. she doubts that there will be any problems, considering what happened to riverclan last time they caused problems but...still. she feels like she should be extra cautious. "s-saltmeadow..marsh...our border with..riverclan." she says. "what..do you s-smell..this time?"

Irispaw listened at Squirrelrise explained the scents, before following her to the next border.

As he checked the scents after she asked, he recoiled a bit.
He didn't like this smell, it wasn't a good stench.
"Something that stinks." They said "I'm guessing fish."

That was his guess since RiverClan is usually associated with fish and such.

squirrelrise lets out a soft chuckle at irispaw's answer, the response managing to amuse her enough that her anxiety was momentarily forgotten. "it does..s-stink a bit," she agrees. riverclan's scent was definitely one of the more yucky ones, as mean as she feels to say so. "during..rainy s-season..it gets very muddy..around here. s-so keep...that in mind..for the future," she informs before gesturing for her apprentice to follow her, padding off to the next and final border.

approaching the thunderclan border, she comes to a stop. "this is..our border with..t-thunderclan, herondive..hollow. what's the..s-smell like..this time?" she meows, gaze falling upon the gorge that lay a few tail lengths ahead. "oh! while...we're here.." she murmurs, approaching a nearby plant. "to mark a border...just rub against..a plant or..tree, l-like this." she explains, rubbing her cheek along the plants stem.

Irispaw then followed Squirrelrise to the next and final border, herondive hollow, thunderclan's border.
He took a few sniffs "Rodents. Squirrels." Was his answer.

They then watched as their mentor showed how to mark a border.
Hm.
Okay.
He rubbed on the nearest plant.
"Like that?"
