☘︎ She listened to him speak, and her heart sort of sunk for him… She felt it, and related to him deeply… She too wondered why she was allowed back, and why they let her stay even after all her empty promises… Why did she come back and not someone else more worthy, more important…? Shaking her head, Pebblesplash pries the leaf off her paw, turning to face the younger warrior… “The world works in a strange way, doesn’t it…?” She spoke after a long silence, clearing her throat. the conversation took a darker turn, but Pebs wasn’t gonna let it remain gloomy.

☘︎ “Y’know… I learned something up there though, while I was in StarClan… I know you feel alone Seabreeze, I felt it… but even though your sister isn’t here, she still believes in you, and loves you. Even in death, those that you love are still there, and you really aren’t as alone as you believe yourself to be…” If anyone knew that, it was her, as she had to be the one loving those for a brief period of time. “That’s why you can’t give up, and throw it all away. Live the life your loved ones would have wanted you to… Let that be the way you honor them until you reunite again,” She smiled. “You need to live the life they would have wanted for you, one where you are happy…”

Pebblesplash took a moment to speak, and that was understandable logically, but for every second that passed… every moment, it felt like he was getting closer and closer to suffocating. Each beat of his heart grew louder in his ears until he feared that he might not even hear her when- if she spoke again. It was a building pressure. Like being under the water. And can’t break the surface. You can feel your chest grow tight, your head pounding with need, and for a terrifying moment you can’t see or understand anything… you think you’re going to die.

Seabreeze lifted his gaze up, blue eyes catching on the sunshine colored markings along Pebblesplash’s eyes, he couldn’t look her directly into them. Ocean to sea. What as a sea to an ocean? What was a spirit brought back to life to a dead cat walking.

Someone who can understand.

Pebblesplash started to speak. It was something he’s been told a million and one times before. That your lost one’s up in the sky love you, and miss you, but want you to live a happy life until you join them up there. He grew angry when be was younger, upon hearing this. Something about it felt fake when it fell from other cat’s mouths. Like a lie that they fed themselves, like yew berries and honey. But it was different, when Pebblesplash said it.

It was like feverfew… or dandelion… or marigold. It was bitter, but it helped. It helped take away the edge. It smoothed down the sharp, stabbing corners. Because she did know. Pebblesplash knew what it was like to be apart of the constellations. So it meant that she had truth behind the words rather than blank nothings when it fell from other cats’ mouths. Seabreeze dropped his head, a few tears dropping to catch on the leaves littering the ground.

☘︎ Pebblesplash allows a natural smile to creep onto her face, looking at the younger warrior. “At first, I didn’t believe it… l didn’t believe that those I loved were actually there, waiting… But then I saw it for myself… But, to prove a point, I lost what mattered most…” She was talking about losing stuff… when being reunited with those she loved…? “You never know how much you really have until you lose it all… So you should keep those little things close.” She was having trouble explaining what she was trying to say, but she wanted to say it nonetheless…

☘︎ “When you die young, you are left with empty promises, and a lack of fulfillment… You realize your life is never really over because it never even started… So start living…” That was her biggest regret… Not enjoying everything, and giving up on it all… “Find the little things you love, Seabreeze, and hold onto them dearly… And live with the promise to fulfill whatever you need to do… not for others, but for yourself…”

"I see... thank you, Pebblesplash.." Seabreeze managed to choke out around the tears that were clogging his throat. He coughed a bit, trying to clear it as he raised a paw to wipe away the tears stinging his eyes. He looked up, meeting Pebblesplash's eyes for a moment, which was more than probably this whole interaction, "I'll try." Perhaps looking at the good things, even if small, will make it harder to think about the constant bad all the time. "Speaking of the small things, the thicket is pretty during this season." He changed the topic. The whole touchy-feely conversation made him feel slightly better but he didn't want to talk about it any longer and hoped that the other, much more social feline, would get the idea.
