Ashpaw made a disgusted face when he heard that ShadowClan aura these creatures, but said no more.
Ashpaw nodded slowly. Maybe he could get more details from other cats later on.
“Okay, sure!” he said, pretending not to notice his mentor’s nervousness. It looked like she really hated approaching RiverClan. Or it could be because he said something he shouldn’t have, but he didn’t think so.
{ ohh haha I did that again this time }
Daywhisper • She / Her • Windclan warrior • 35+ Moons A mostly white she-cat with cream patches and soft green eyes
Daywhisper was mostly worried about ending up in a battle, she wouldn't be prepared and didn't want Ashpaw to get hurt... or worse. She figured things had settled down between them, but still felt unease.
The Windclan she-cat slowed her pace as they neared the border "Be careful- There are cliffs that lead to a river- I'd hate for anything to happen to you-" She said, worry filled her tone as she glanced back at him.
After waiting for any questions he had to ask she finally moved on to the last border. Thunderclan. She really didn't have much to say "I've heard they eat a lot of squirrels and are really good at climbing trees" She said, humming in thought as she looked across the border.
Daywhisper then turned to face Ashpaw "So! What do you know about hunting? I know you're not clanborn but I also know you are pretty young." She said, curiously tilting her head.

Ashpaw thought for a bit. “Not a lot,” he said. “I’ve caught some prey before, but I don’t think the method I used was a good method…” Ashpaw had barely caught some prey while travelling towards the clans, but it was enough to let him survive. Two mice in three days of travel. “Do you want me to show it to you?” he asked.

Daywhisper hummed softly in thought before nodding "If you wouldn't mind demonstrating what you know, I can give you tips and correct anything i notice wrong." She looked around the clearing before finding a pebble and bringing it over.
The mostly white she-cat set the pebble down, clearing her throat before looking towards Ashpaw "Pretend this is a mouse" she said with a nod, sitting down before wrapping her tail around her paws.
Re: [training] is this how all my time gets wasted?
Ashpaw crouched down in the grass. “I usually wait for the mouse to get close enough,” he said. “Then, I jump on it.” just after saying that, he leaped towards the rock. “Sometimes, the prey can escape from me though” he added after landing — not exactly on the rock, but about one quarter tail length from it.

Daywhisper nodded, humming softly, she wasn't sure what she was expecting exactly, but it wasn't that "I... I see, I mean I suppose if it works it works, but that's definitely not very efficient" She said with a gentle laugh, before clearing her throat
"Typically we go to our prey versus letting it come to us." She said, pausing for a moment "When we smell prey, we get into a crouch like this." She said confidently demonstrating the hunters' crouch before continuing " Then you find out what direction the prey is, and figure out if you're upwind or downwind." She continued, perking her ears up, she was currently upwind of the pebble. Day nodded to herself before slowly creeping forward.
"Then, when you're about a tail's length away-" She said, barely above a whisper "You leap at the prey, like this" She said, skillfully springing from the tall grass she was in and onto the pebble, landing almost perfectly on it.
"Then the most important step, the final blow" She described how to do it in the best way she could without actually having prey to show him on. She then smiled down at Ashpaw, waiting for him to repeat her demonstration to the best of his ability.

Ashpaw nodded each time his mentor told him some tips, occasionally saying “ok”. He then crouched, similarly to what Daywhisper did — but not perfectly, that was expected. He figured the wind was coming from his side and repositioned himself to the right angle. He approached slowly, making sure not to make too much noise. He looked at the ‘prey’ and then leaped. This time, the pebble was between his four legs. Ashpaw searched for the pebble, and then found it. He tried to do what Daywhisper told him for the final blow — it took him long enough for the pebble - if it was a prey - to stream and alert others.
