[first part takes place still in windclan patrol area]
Before they had left, she had heard Maggot say that they were getting something better than flowers.
Well that definitely peaked her curiosity, but she'd have to see later. "Okee dokee! I'll see you when we get back!" She had said in reply, noting the wanting to trade patrols around.
Silly, fun stuff. But, she should definitely stick with her mentor for now due to... well, take a guess.
She'd hang out with Maggot as soon as possible, though!

Oops, right.
Whiskers!
Keep the whiskers in mind!
Remember they do, in fact, very much exist!
"Gotcha, I'll get the hang of it. Super duper promise." Leopardpaw replied to her mentor.
As Dreamlight mentioned the tail being useful too, Leopardpaw waved her's around a little.
Okay, she should probably remember that too.
Now! Border time!
Patrol!
Super epic!
Following Dreamlight and Buttercuptwist, and trying to use her whiskers as much as possible, and it was hard, by the way, she did notice change in air.
Did that mean they were about to be there?
Soon, based on Dreamlight mentioning marking the border, she figured out they were there.
Okayyy... marking.
Using whiskers.
She could do it, easy peasy.
Leopardpaw... sorta figured it out.
She ended up using her tail a little but more but, she acknowledged her whiskers existence and it definitely helped her find where she was going a bit.
And she ended up marking... pretty successfully?
Then Dreamlight asked of Buttercuptwist saw anything over the border.
Was something wrong?
A rounded ear twitched as she heard a tiny but of movement.
She tensed.
Eugh, she didn't like the incident this reminding her of in the back of her mind.

And they were off. Seemed like leaf-fall was beginning to strike, the grass being a little droopier than usual, and when they reached the Whispering Wetlands, it became clear that it’d rained far more. Dreamlight was explaining some standard apprentice stuff to Leopardpaw - it seemed the two were mentor and apprentice. Sweet.
She quickly marked the border, before Dreamlight asked her a question. Did she see anything moving?? She certainly hadn’t noticed anything, but she honestly trusted Dreamlight’s judgement above her own. Not that she doubted her own skills, just that she wasn’t all that perceptive - aloof, if you will. She didn’t fret about that fact, it’s just the way she is, she could accept that with ease. “Anythin’ moving, huh??” She squinted at the border, the willow tree’s old branches swaying in the wind. Trees, water, mud, grass -
Then, she saw it. It was almost as though the grass itself was moving, but it was instead a very well camouflaged serpent - heading right for them. Well, not by intention - it seemed to simply be on a leisurely slither. Still!! “SNAAAKE!!” She called, voice quivering,
Ohh no. Oh nope. She wasn’t exactly an analytical thinker. Had it been a cat, or something she knew a little better, perhaps she’d had some kind of idea of what to do. She took a quick breath, "Just ahead - uh, I don't think it's seen us yet, but it's coming right this way!" That's the best she could do, give some explanation. After a few seconds, she'd have some idea of what to do, but right now?? Her mind was blank.
Ah, so that's what it was? It wasn't a cat or anything with legs at all. Dreamlight's fur bristled at the announcement of the snake, but after hearing it hadn't spotted them yet she slid into a hunting crouch. "Leopardpaw, stay back." She ordered the apprentice with a sharp flick of her ear.
Crowtooth asked them to hunt. Snakes counted as prey she was pretty certain. She has never hunted a snake before but they couldn't be much different from normal prey. Dreamlight's hunting style had changed a bit with being blind. The she-cat froze, ears twitching erratically as she listened to the slithering creature get closer and closer. It was only when she heard it pause and hiss she pounced.
Her fangs bit into the underside of the snake's throat and clamped down as the creature thrashed back and forth before laying still. "Got ahhhh!" The feline's words twisted into a screech as hot pain blistered through her back leg. The she-cat whipped around with her front claws extended and ripped at the snake biting into her thigh. Dreamlight heard a second one slithering towards her, but she was a little busy trying to get the one biting her leg off.

Snake? Oh yikes.
Not good.
Leopardpaw easily listened when told to stay back, even if she didn't like it very much.
She heard shuffling and stuff, but then she heard Dreamlight sound like she got hurt.
Oh, StarClan, she wanted to help, but what could she do? This is just like before. "Dreamlight!? Are you okay!?" She said.
For now, she could only hope Buttercuptwist was helping.

Right, Right. She needed to focus, she couldn't get freaked out by some little snakes, she needed to help her patrolmates. Dreamlight had already sprung into action, another snake latching onto her leg seemingly out of nowhere - were they in the mud? The water? The grass?? Her head swivelled round, seeing yet another one approaching Dreamlight - time to bite. "I'll hold this one off!" She yelled as she sprung into action, racing toward the snake, before grasping it's body in her mouth. The head thrashed clearly trying to get a bite of her - though it didn't seem like it had the space to. How wrong she was. Teeth sunk into her shoulder quickly, though she quickly shoved it off with a paw, trying her hardest to push its skull into the ground. Truth be told, she never was that strong - fast, but not strong. Age hadn't helped. She knew she had to act quick, she wouldn't be able to keep its head down for long. She went for the neck, just below the head, biting as hard as she could. Should be good enough. Her head flicked back round to her patrolmates, seeing if she needed to help.
The bite hurt something fierce. Dreamlight barely processed Buttercuptwist's words or Leopardpaw's concern. It was a struggle to ignore her internal alarm screaming panic at the top of its lungs. Her front paws flailed before finally getting lucky enough to sink in finding a purchase beneath the scales. She pressed down hard to keep the snake's tail still while leaning in and biting at its taunt body till it snapped into two like an overstretched vine.
She dropped the lower half of the snake and carefully yanked the fangs out of her leg. Dreamlight dropped the snake's head and body on the ground and sniffed at her bleeding leg. "Everyone alright?" She meowed after a bit of silence.
Her leg hurt, and it was bleeding, but aside from that she was good to go. She perked her ears listening over the border, but wasn't hearing anything else. "These reek of pine, they must have come from ShadowClan's side." She mused, carefully testing how much weight she could put on her hindleg before it became too much. It wasn't a lot but she could limp on it. The pain was far less than when she lost her eyesight to the minks.
"We have to get back to camp relatively quickly. We can bring the snakes as prey since we're not getting any hunting done with my leg." Dreamlight adds, noticing after a few licks that the blood wasn't slowly down. She could feel blood trickling through her fur and down her leg.
"Buttercuptwist, if you don't mind leading the way back. Leopardpaw, walk with me. You'll have to carry the other snake too." Dreamlight brushed off the whole situation with ease but when you live as a warrior stuff like this becomes the norm. Leopardpaw was still pretty young and Dreamlight wanted to ensure she was alright. Buttercuptwist was a warrior more seasoned than Dreamlight, so she wasn't too worried about the older cat.

It... sounded like everything got resolved.
That was good.
Buttercuptwist had helped and the warriors had killed the snakes.
They came from the ShadowClan side?
Eugh, unlucky for ShadowClan.
Sounds like they were bringing the snakes, and Leopardpaw was instructed to walk beside Dreamlight and carry one as well.
Okee dokee, easy peasy. "Okay." She said, walking over, managing to find the dead snake and pick it up, and stand beside Dreamlight.
SQUIRRELRISE she/her. 16 moons. small, scarred russet molly with brown markings and yellow eyes.
[ chill of death, hulk SMASH ]
wormpaw is the first to show up, and squirrelrise nods. "r-right," she confirms. yellow hues flicker to bluebellbrook once the warrior shows up, shaking her head softly. ".. it's alright. l-lets..go.." with that being said, her bushy tail gives a flick to gesture for her patrolmates to follow as she leads the way out of camp.
arriving at the border, the molly's fur fluffs as a breeze blows by. her first thick and typically shields her from the cold, but she swears it's colder at windclans border. "...alright.." she starts, turning to face the fellow warrior and apprentice. "wormpaw...I want you..to s-stay either..near me..or b-bluebellbrook," she looks at wormpaw, then to bluebellbrook.
"to make..it quicker..b-bluebellbrook, I think..you sh-should take..that s-side..of the border," she pauses shortly, gesturing towards the half of the border to the left of her. "if..that's..okay with you."
Wormpaw • He / It • Shadowclan apprentice • 9 + Moons A smoky black tom with white flecks throughout his pelt and pale yellow/blue heterochromatic eyes.
Wormpaw bounced alongside Squirrelrise "It's so nice to get out of camp and stretch my legs- I've been so bored lately" it said with a laugh, its tail tip twitching behind it as it listened to Squirrelrise speak.
It hummed in thought, debating if he should stick with his mentor or take up the opportunity to meet a new cat. Generally, he'd stick to familiarity, but after a bit of thought, he decided to go with Bluebellbrook for this specific patrol, a bit curious about the warrior.
With a nod to Squirrelrise he padded towards Bluebellbrook bowing his head in greeting "Hello!" it said with a wide awkward friendly smile. He looked towards the side of the border Squirrelrise had pointed for Bluebell to go to.
He looked around is there where I met Fallenpaw? He furrowed his brows in thought. It'd snuck out and made it's way to the Windclan border while still a kit, meeting one of the weirdest cats it'd ever met. He shrugged off the thought though, looking back to Bluebellbrook.
