Daywhisper exited the warriors' den, taking a moment to yawn and stretch before making her way over to the fresh-kill pile. It was still early enough she wasn’t worried about starting training later. Both of her apprentices had proven themselves to be committed learners, much to Day’s relief. She had her paws full with two apprentices and now taking Fallenpaw’s training into her own paws unofficially.
She’d been working herself ragged ever since leaving the nursery, she’d been doing her best to keep her mind off her outsider mate and her fear she might not ever be able to bring him into Windclan. The windclan she-cat sighed softly as she picked a rabbit from the bottom of the pile, ate it, and then dropped the remains off with her kids.
The mostly white Windclan warrior glanced up towards the sky, nodding, it seemed like a good time to make sure Applepaw was awake and see if he was ready to train. She peaked her head into the apprentices’ den, clearing her throat before quietly calling out Applepaw’s name. Her gaze swept over the apprentices who were currently ”Applepaw, are you in here?”

Applepaw had woken up as the sun was coming up, so excited to have a new mentor after his last one wasn't the best. Nothing against that warrior of course! Maybe they just weren't ready yet and then they didn't want to learn which was fine with Applepaw! It just means that he needed a new mentor! Which he had! Daywhisper! The apprentice continued to fluff the nests around the apprentice den after he finished with his own. Maybe he would have time to get new moss for some before Daywhisper came by.
But just as she was thinking that she heard her name called, and she turned to see Daywhisper. Yes! She couldn't help her excited squeal and she quickly finished the nest she was messing with and hopped to her paws. Rushing, and tunnel visioned on her mentor, and ignoring the way her paws tossed the nests she just made as she ran. Then she was so focused that she hadn't even realized how quickly she was approaching and before she could slow down and stop she was running right by the warrior and out of the den.
"Oh- Wowzers, too fast too fast! Break break break!" The apprentice dug their paws into the ground only for their momentum to carry their head and body over them into a somersault. They landed with an oof noise on their back. Though they recovered quickly with a grin. "Too quick! But that means I'm quite the Windclan cat going that fast! I bet you're even faster aren't you! Aren't you, Daywhisper!"
His mind flooded with possibilities now, "ARE WE GOING TRAINING?!! My last mentor wasn't very on top of things, not like bad! I think I was their first apprentice so they weren't very ready yet but now I am with you and you have already found me and that means we must be going training, right?" Hunting? Or going into the territory? And the borders? Or or or or maybe they could be doing something else like fighting! Or something! He grinned, "Are we doing hunting? Or fighting? Or seeing the territory? OR ALL OF THAT!"
Daywhisper couldn't help but smile, amused by the apprentice's antic "Be careful!" She said followed by a soft giggle "I like to think I'm pretty fast, though I'm a little out of practice having just gotten out of the nursery" She said with a soft purr, her tail gently swaying behind her as she looked down at Applepaw.
The bombardment of questions surprised, but delighted Daywhisper as well. She nodded enthusiastically in response " Yes! I was thinking that we would start with the basics. We'll go to the borders, then hunting on the way back... that's what I did with Ashpaw anyways-" she said, humming in thought "We have plenty of time to learn the rest though! If you'd prefer to learn anything before something else feel free to let me know" She said, smiling at them.
(might just like, breeze over the borders part bc I'm running out of my already very limited fun facts about each clan lol, if that's okay with you! i can still roleplay them out if you want though!)

Applepaw was literally trembling with excitement and as soon as their mentor finished speaking they were jumping up and down and doing circles around the older feline. “That’s soooooo cool! Do you have kits then? Little itty bitty guys, they'll be great warriors like you, I’m just sure of it!” The apprentice exclaimed happily as they stopped to pad at a slightly more normal pace at Daywhisper’s flank. “I don’t think I’ll ever have kittens, I just don’t think I would be a very good parent. I’m not patient enough to watch over some lumps of no fun until they could finally play.” The apprentice continued before turning their focus to training once more.
“That sounds super fun. Who’s Ashpaw? I probably have seen them around but also I kind of forget which names to what faces if I don’t see them very often. OH that reminds me!” The apprentice recalled the lesson that Warmsun had given him recently enough and how the hunting went mediocre at best but today he would get more practice which was super good. “Warmsun took me hunting not too long ago, I’m not very good at it, like… at all. But with some practice I’m sure I’ll be just dandy!”
He finished speaking finally with a friendly sway of his tail behind him and looking forward to seeing the borders proper for the first time. What were they like? Will they see any cats from the other clans? Will they get into a border scuffle? That would be frightening, but being a warrior was frightening and Applepaw was brave! Though without any fighting practice not much could be said about his ability to defend. He would certainly try though!

Daywhisper giggled softly and nodded in response "I do! Hollypaw and Fallenpaw. They were just apprenticed last meeting actually" She said, puffing her chest up a bit. She'd never had anyone hype her up about her kits, but it was nice. "Thank you Applepaw, I think that you too will make a wonderful addition to the warriors' den once your training is complete" she said, followed by a loud purr.
She nodded, walking along to the first border as Applepaw spoke "Mm, that's fair- I can't say that Holly and Fallen were exactly planned." She paused for a moment "Honestly, the first moon or so before they began eating solids was so peaceful. Once they opened their eyes and started eating solids that ended though- then they decided to cause trouble in whatever way they could" A soft sigh escaped her maw, as fond as she was of her kits they certainly were a pawful "They definitely do take patience though" She said with a gentle laugh.
Once more her thoughts returned to the task at hand, listening as they padded along "oh! Ashpaw was assigned to me a bit before you were, the same meeting my kids were apprenticed actually- He's a sweet kid" She said with a fond smile "ah! good to know! Don't worry about being good or not, we all have good days and bad days" Daywhisper beamed, continuing "In fact, just the other day I took Holly out and completely mistimed a jump and missed the rabbit I was stalking, he sure had a laugh about that" she said, rolling her eyes playfully
With all the talking, she hadn't even noticed as they neared the Thunderclan border. Oh! She'd gone the opposite way that she'd gone with Ashpaw. Oh well! It's not like any of the borders were going anywhere anyway.
"This is the Thunderglade, we share this border with Thunderclan, the treeline marks where our territories meet" She said, giving Applepaw time to respond and ask any questions he wanted to.
After that, she leads the way to the next border "Here we have the Whispering Wetlands, We share this border with Shadowclan." She felt a shiver run down her spine as they approached the winding willing that seemed to engulf not only the border but the majority of Shadowclan. "It's a nice border to be patrolling during summer- It's fairly shady, though given it is Shadowclan territory that's not... entirely surprising" She said, furrowing her brows.
The Windclan warrior squinted, seeing the white fur of a calico Shadowclan warrior in the distance, though the cat in question seemed to be out of earshot, and even if they weren't, it probably wouldn't be the best look to stop training just to get the attention of a cat she didn't even know.
Once more she gave Applepaw time to make any comments and ask any questions before turning toward the direction of the next border.
So far so good. she thought to herself, finally the final border, and unfortunately, the one she'd been dreading the most. Ever since their return, Daywhisper had felt uneasy around their border, unsure of how they felt, not knowing much of what had been happening at the gatherings.
As they padded over the rolling hills of the Windclan side of the border Daywhisper slowed her pace "This is Sedgewater Valley, this is the border we share with Riverclan, Be careful venturing near here though- I'm sure things are... fine... but I don't necessarily trust that Riverclan isn't... uh... mad" She said, swallowing a bit nervously, glancing towards Applepaw, pausing once more, waiting for them to say anything they needed to.

Applepaw blinked as her mentor praised her when they had barely even known each other but too be fair the apprentice was praising her offspring without even knowing who they are. Hollypaw and Fallenpaw! He thinks he remembers those names from the last meeting, but boy, unlike normal there were so many kittens being named which was crazyyyyyy. Crazy crazy even. He certainly didn't have that many becoming apprentices beside him, but who knows, there was a lot of kits in the nursery even now. "Awwww shucks, you're making me blush under all this russet fur, trust. I sure hope to be a good warrior! I wanna be named early, so I can help out the clan when the full force of the cold season hits, you know. Sometimes I worry a bit about this season with how many kits we have to feed."
The apprentice skipped a bit as she spoke, looking around at the territory. She hadn't been brought out this far before, though that makes sense. They were seeing the borders and most of what Applepaw has seen before is one of Winclan's landmarks, therefore inner territory, not outer. Though it was still fun to see how the moors started to mix with other territory types. The fields were filled with all sorts of plants that Applepaw was sure the frost would take soon, but they were certainly pretty while they were still around. "Peaceful? Well I suppose being peaceful is nice. I know I get too eager at times, maybe I'll slow down one day, though, I don't see the fun I that now hehe." The apprentice added on lightheartedly.
"I wonder what my parents were thinking of me when they had me, you know. I didn't really know about 'em. Twi'star brought me in when I was just a nubbin'." Ah, that was a bit too 'sad' for Applepaw's liking, though she didn't speak it in a sad tone, it was just a sadder topic to delve into. The russet apprentice looked around in sheer delight as Daywhisper announced that they were on the Thunderclan Windclan border. "Wha huh?!? No fair, why's it called Thunderglade. It should be named Windglade if anything." The apprentice complained playfully, before following after his mentor as she started to guide him away from the glade and towards the next spot on the list.
The next spot they walked to was very clear, Applepaw having being able to guess that it was the border they share with Shadowclan without even needing it confirmed from her mentor though Daywhisper announced it correct in the next moment. It was a bit too icky for Applepaw's liking but having lived through the fires and the latest greenleaf season, she could see the appeal of the shade during a patrol otherwise spent under the full force of the sun. Good thing that she had a lighter coat than most, which was biting her in the tail now that it was getting colder but, silver linings. "Spooky. It's strange, It makes me wonder if Shadowclan named themselves after their territory rather than like... the other way around," The apprentice started in thought, not really noticing the Shadowclan cat that could potentially interact with them, "Actually, I'm not sure where I was going with that..."
Applepaw allowed themself to trail off and followed after Daywhisper as the warrior started ot lead them away once more and towards the next border. Now then, the russet apprentice was not very good at reading other people, but she wasn't clueless when it was blatantly clear right in front of them. Daywhisper didn't like this border, and Applepaw knew clearly as day why. Windclan and Riverclan haven't been on the best terms lately. Though surely they wouldn't try anything against them? Unless they wanted to get into another fight where Windlcan pummels them again. Maybe drive them out of the territory for good and take the extra Riverclan land for themselves. He's heard that fish tend to stick around all year so that would be nice for the colder season.

Applepaw got sidetracked before finishing their sentence and padded over to the river, "Look at that! Can we fish here? Fish stay around all seasons right? That's how Riverclan keeps kicking so well during the colder season? Fishing seems fun!" Though the apprentice didn't really want to try and then risk tumbling down into the water, it didn't look the most friendly and Applepaw didn't know how to swim so uhhhhh.... The russet apprentice padded back to Daywhisper.

Daywhisper nodded along as Applepaw spoke. She too worried about the security of the clan with all the new kits that were now crowding the nursery. She was relieved to have gotten out when she did, unsure how she'd handle being crammed in there again right now "With kits, peace is always nice. I can't even begin to count all the times I've had to search the territory for Holly and Fallen" She said, a soft laugh escaping her as she turned her gaze back to Applepaw
"mm, yeah. Prey has been pretty scarce lately, and what prey there is, is barely worth it." She said with a sigh "But with every new generation, brings a whole new generation of hunters to help feed that clan" She said, though even with that, that generation still needed to grow. Hopefully, this leafbare won't be as cruel as the ones in the past.
Daywhisper gave a small frown, flashing her apprentice a sympathetic look. Her tail swayed behind her as she perked up, watching Applepaw's delight at the first border. She furrowed her brows and tilted her head "You know- I never really thought of that before... I think it was named something else before... can't for the life of me remember what it was called though, nor why they changed it" She said, humming in thought. After more thoughts, jokes, and discussion of Thunderclan, they moved on.
Arriving at Shadowclan border, Daywhisper couldn't help but laugh "it really is kind of spooky!" She quirked a brow at the next part, amusement filling the mostly white she-cat's eyes as she listened to his words, after he trailed off they once more continued.
Daywhisper nodded in response "I sure hope they are- I don't want another fight like that when it's not necessary" She said with a soft sigh, her gaze falling to the river as Applepaw noticed it, once more her smile returned to her maw "I'm not sure- I've never tried to admittedly... No one has ever tried to teach me how to swim... or fish for that matter, so I'm not sure how good I'd be at it" She furrowed her brows, her tail tip twitching behind her
"I don't think I've ever seen fish on the Windclan fresh-kill pile either." she added as an afterthought "but I suppose if a cat knew how to it'd be fine? Might have to ask Twilightstar for answers to that one-" She said simply, before jumping back to the task at hand.
"Hunting!" she said abruptly, looking back towards her apprentice "So Applepaw, I know you had a mentor before me, did they teach you anything about hunting? or did you learn anything from the apprentices as a kit?" She asked, tilting her head curiously.
